I like this stitch, with or without the beads. This will be my next blanket, but I will make a beaded throw first for practice. Cheers!

Agree! I am also planning some projects using the linked double crochet (without beads) - LOVE this stitch as a fun way to work a double crochet.

I bought my beads at Walmart and they have a larger hole. I used 4mm for my beads and 5mm for the regular stitches. I also used a 4 weight yarn. Mine came out 40 inches long and 100 sts wide. I used 2-1/2 skeins of yarn and 1-1/2 "tubs" of multi colored beads with ivory yarn (Big twist)

The best instruction I have seen about this blanket and a new stitch too. Awesome. Thank you 😊

I’d never heard of linked double crochet before! That’s really cool

I love this stitch for patterns where I don't want or like the look of a traditional double crochet stitch (with the bit of space that creates sometimes). The linked stitch really does join the double crochets together and is such a neat stitch!

I like this version - I saw another one where you had to switch crochet hooks with each row, and that's annoying. I already knew how to do linked double crochet, but you took an interesting approach by comparing it with Tunisian crochet.

Thanks for sharing! My family does not like holes in their blankets, so this is a GREAT option!! I, on the other hand, like the holes😂. Will be making a weighted blanket for my grandkids now, thanks!!!

I know quite a few people who don't like the holes in their blankets either! LOL The linked dc is amazing for this. I'm so glad you found it helpful! :)

Can this be done with 3- weight yarn? I have a particular yarn blend in mind, but it only comes in 3 or 5 weight.

You can definitely try it with a 3 weight yarn. Pony beads are a bit bigger sized bead which is why they work well with the 4 weight yarn, but should work with a 3 weight!
