its like newer samsung phones vs iphone, iphone being the black, it has better MP, alot nicer quality, but samsung (silver) uses flashy colour filters and tend to catch the eye, this is my personal opinion

Wow I didn't know the Silver and White don't have protune or removable batteries! That's crazy for the pricing of those. Black is the only one worth getting IMO. HyperSmooth is truly a killer feature worth the premium, but that slow pan issue does suck. Lower tiers it's much better to get a Yi or Sony instead.
Who’s the numb nut that said - let’s make the silver and white with NON Removable batteries!! I carry minimum of 4 batteries when shooting all day. It’s a GoPro not a Tesla!
Not everyone shoots all day. I wouldn't mind having one for underwater shots cuz its one less port to accidentally take on water. Proper business models require multiple options and price points for the various types of consumer.
Cole Carlson .... yes not all shoots all day, but what’s the marketing strategy? To make something that only a small percentage of videographers can take advantage of? For 30 min shooters underwater? Is that their target audience? If waterproof gaskets are clean and closed right you won’t have a problem. Your argument doesn’t hold water.

In the past they have made multiple different models each year or with every new line. I'm sure not everyone requires the features of the black nor the price tag with it. There is a whole plethora of reasons for it. The same reasons why they are the most successful action cam company.
This was useful. In EVERY case my eyes tell me the silver is the best, and I'd tie the black and white. Got tired of the pedantic sales pitch here, so turned it off, but looks to me like the white is capable of excellent results in most cases, but there are differences in connectivity features that some may feel merit the cost of the black.

Check out the comparison between the 8 and the 7. He uses the 7 silver against the 8 black... On youtube, people either do these tricks or just turn off stabilisation to make the new camera look better.
Silver looks to have the best coloring and does not over blacken the shadows. Low light however black looks better. The Silver can be gotten for under $200 in Sept 2023 - and I plan to use it for streaming on Twitch as a cam.
@@hugomorales5101 Depending on scenario. Note9 will have an infinitely better quality of video, while GoPro will have a bigger angle, better sun and smoother moving objects.

I'd get two of the 7White instead of just one 7Black. I'm not impressed with the improved stabilization. I have gimbals for that. And 1080p is more than enough still today for novice video. Video editing can enhance everything else 💁🏾♂️

I plan to start a second channel with vlogging and am in the market for an action camera. This is a hard choice for me on which one to go. If you look at the video starting at 4:34 all the way to 4:46 his face on the Gopro Black looks like it has too much saturation (making his face more orange) and is slightly more blurry than the other two.

The hero white actually has better Audio than the silver 😅. Seriously though is the black worth $150 over the white if I don't care to use hypersmooth (image trade off) and just want 1080p@30/60fps. 1440p @30fps is a good feature too. I'm only looking to shoot video. Thanks!
I think they screwed up the line up quite a bit. The black makes sense, but I don’t see much reason to spend an extra $100 on 4K over the white. The silver is the useless model here, and they would have been better off with the 2 of them, the budget model and a high performance one. Either you can only spend 200 on an action camera or you want the best. No one aspires to get the middle of the road one. It’s also shameful that despite companies like yi providing 4K at under $200, go pro still can’t do it for less than $300. Honestly the only great improvement here is the stabilization. Not overly impressed.
From what I've seen the white edition 7 only records in 1440 instead of 1080p. That's why I wouldn't want the white or the silver. All videos would have to be cropped to be on 1080p :/
Simply Dudey You are correct! I bought the white and 1080P 60 FPS is only in slo motion. It shoots only 1440 in regular video mode. Needless to say I returned it. The box says 1080 60fps it doesn’t say anything about 1440 so I didn’t find that out until I made a lot of videos then uploaded them.
As with most things, it depends. In this case, it depends on how hard the processor is working and screen brightness primarily. Typically, I find one battery lasts about 60 minutes. I'm currently trying to figure out if and how much Hypersmooth taxes the battery. I feel like I was getting closer to 90 minutes per battery with the Hero 6.
Black: 1h:40m Silver: 2h:05m White: 2h:16m I've ran the battery test 3 times and these are the general battery life times. Note: these battery test are ran at the cameras MAX capabilities. Also these test were ran from Full battery til they shut off on 1 continuous recording session. Starting and stopping recording plus turning the camera on and off will affect the battery life and lower these times.
Were the GoPros recording during your battery test? Might be a stupid question but I just need to double check. I'm thinking of getting the 7 White just for amateur flying videos, was wondering if it could actually last for 2 hours of filming 1080p.
@@amir_yh Yes. I tested the batteries with and without recording. The times I posted are while recording. The white is a good camera and you will enjoy it if all your trying to do is get nice shots and nothing to dramatic and cinematic.
GoPro has made some odd, perhaps egregious, choices with product marketing/pricing IMO. I really wish they would've changed the mic option on the new 7. That adapter is ridiculous.
Their whole thinking makes no sense to me. On one hand, they go all out and provide the best damn camera in the universe then they trash their line with the lower quality models that are stripped down and flawed on many levels. I just sent in my old gopro for the upgrade to the Silver 7 but after getting it, finding rolling shutter problems on the 1440 mode and grainy indoor videos on the 4k mode. Surprisingly, NO HEVC or h.265 except on the Black. WHY? Makes absolutely no sense. Battery is not accessible. Okay, fine but when reviewing their website and ordering the silver, I seriously did NOT see that. If it is a new concept to the product line, ADVERTISE IT!!!! Instead, it's like they are hiding so many things! I mean, why not say "We make it simple - 4k or NOT 4k recording - no more scrolling through dozens of options" - instead almost NADA unless you really dig through their website. Battery yield? Not even in the instruction manual! Their website doesn't have that information. The Silver that retails for $300 that I got for $200 by giving up my Hero 4 is NOT worth the price. GoPro would have been better off by dumping the lower priced models and sticking with the GoPro 6 Black and the GoPro 7 Black and selling one for $249 and the other for $399

My White was a pain! It kept stopping recording, and an error message ‘repairing file’ was displayed. Not what you want especially when the camera is mounted to the roof of your car and you have no idea the recording has stopped! I tried everything to fix this, from formatting the MicroSD (many times) to checking for firmware upgrades, to changing the MicroSD card 3 times. Yes I checked the card was compatible with GoPro. In the end, I returned it, and bit the bullet and went for Hero 8 black. Much happier. No problems whatsoever.

At about 4:36 I see a difference in the skin tone and texture. Looks more orange, missing highlights and maybe smoother. Why is that?

Whats the point of filming in 4k if you only have 1080p screen? Is there any?
The video will still look better, but there is definitely less bang for buck than if watching on a 4k screen.
Jim Brandon you can also do more in post with 4K. Like not getting pixelated as much when zooming in
down scaling the image from 4k to 1080p will create a much sharper image.
Hands down, Gopro 7 gets my vote.......I absolutely need, a removable battery.

My White was a pain! It kept stopping recording, and an error message ‘repairing file’ was displayed. Not what you want especially when the camera is mounted to the roof of your car and you have no idea the recording has stopped! I tried everything to fix this, from formatting the MicroSD (many times) to checking for firmware upgrades, to changing the MicroSD card 3 times. Yes I checked the card was compatible with GoPro. In the end, I returned it, and bit the bullet and went for Hero 8 black. Much happier. No problems whatsoever.
