UPDATE: Larian confirmed that Cross-Play IS on the way and it'll likely be done by the time the other ports are completed by the end of the year.

With Diablo 4 not having splitscreen on pc, I thought my days of playing fantasy games splitscreen with my dad were over. So glad to see this game has it, even if it's not very well explained, lol. He's been very interested in this game, so it's cool that I can play it with him instead of just telling him about it

I wonder why cant you just left the unavailable player at camp. it make you unable to have a companion on their quest while have 4 player character. why cant the player character be left at camp and act like a hireling. it make more sense imo.

@@thefarious688 yeah, you can. And then when your buddy leaves you can send your character to the camp and they get out in a wardrobe of heroes
You can now, they’ve fixed it so you can swap out the player for a different party member

On PS5 are you able to start a split screen couch coop and then move to online on separate systems?
I will be playing next weekend with 3 friends on PS5. Should we play with 4 created characters or 4 origin characters? I heard origin characters get special story and items?
So you will make 2 characters if you play one playthrough solo, and then join a friends game for full co op campaign with a 2nd characters?

I wonder if you start a online multiplayer game with a friend, if you can continue it in couch coop and vice versa according to your mood? If i understand correctly, if you can choose who's in possession of which character each session, it would be logic that you can do that.

Just curious guys (because this is my first time playing a game like this and I’m still waiting for it on ps5 so idk anything about baulder’s gate), but when you make a character in a single player campaign, do you carry that character over for a multiplayer campaign? Or do u make an entirely new character? Idk what an origin character is and I’m also wondering if these online campaigns are something that will last a long time, because I’m trying to convince my friends to buy this game, but I don’t know if they wanna buy it if the multiplayer campaigns are super short and repetitive. Sorry for the long paragraph, but I just want to know some stuff before going into this game! (I’ll be playing the crap out of single player regardless, but I’m just wondering if the multiplayer will be worth it for my friends since idk if they’ll play single player, which ik is a huge disservice for this awesome game)

So can you share or give your Skills Checks Proficiency Bonuses to other members of the Party even if you didn't initiate or manage the conversation or interaction?
For example, if you are good at Dex checks, but bad at Charisma roll, but you need to Persuade or Intimidate someone - can I use my coop friend/Partner's Skills mid conversation? Or maybe the game uses automatically the best player for the job?

I have no idea but that’s a good question, sorry I couldn’t help m8.
No you can’t use your co-op partners Skill mid convo or interaction. If you have a character with you that has the Guidance spell (which lets you add a D4 to an ability check) then in the interaction/Roll you do get the option to add that to your modifier. There may be similar spells like that but that’s really the only time a friend can help you during a roll/interaction.
Otherwise, you have to work together to make sure you have the right person doing the right task.

Didn't realize about the whole custom PC being a permanent addition thing. I hope they add a slot or two in the future meant for custom characters that maybe you just can't talk to or something.
We already have the authentic D&D experience having to schedule when to play with friends. It would be funny to continue this having someone's PC being stuck at camp dragged by the party constantly only to finally be relevant again when the player can make the game lol

thank you. could you please explain the "the can join LATER, and make a character." One simply starts a private multiplayer campaign by themselves, and I can join at any point in their progress? I'm amazing this is possible.
So if I have a party of three and somebody drops out what happens to their character as I play the game? Do I gain their character as an extra member that the host can control or do they go back to camp and get replaced by an origin character?
They’re stuck with you in your party and cannot be replaced! But the good news is you can still control that character without them.

So I'm a little confused. If I start a campaign with 4 people all making custom characters, but then next session one person can't make it and doesn't log on, will I be able to swap their character out of the party and replace them with an Origin character? Or will they be stuck in my party as a custom NPC?
For now, they’ll be stuck in your party. They recently posted they’re working on a fix!

Note for local co-op: There are issues such as not being able to rename character, so you will both be Tav. Also controller doesn't feel great
Do you have to use a controller? What if two ppl in one house both have a computer, couldn't they just play side by side?
@@zachoryfostor7368 you can do co-op with 2 systems of the same type. But that is considered online co-op. Local is for 1 system.
If you have 2 PCs you can do online co-op with mouse and keyboard. Or maybe LAN with MnKB but I haven't tried that

If you add an origin character, can that character be kicked if a new player joins with a new character?
You can exchange the origin characters you find throughout the story whenever you want at camp.

So here's my question, and this was probably covered but I'm not terribly bright. I have two friends I want to play this game with, can we have three players and no fourth party member? We want to play as three with no bots, just us. Is this an option?

They’ve said they do not have plans for cross-play between PC & PS5. And there’s no plans for Xbox release right now.

Sorry just to confirm...if me and my mate buy this game start it together same day creating our custom characters we cannot finish the story together ? So if he always joins my game when we finish the game only i technically have finished it, meaning he gets no story trophies/achievements or story progression nothing ?
And if i can't play cause im busy he can't continue and do side quests or explore alone, then when I come back we just continue the main story?
For example is it like the borderlands games where you do main story together and I (the host) leave to go bed, other players can continue playing side quests leveling up and that not doing story missions, then when I come back we continue the story.
Or is it like we do 10 story missions together I go off-line, does he lose all those 10 missions we did together, so if he wants to go do side missions in his own game while im not there, all those missions we did are gone for him in his game if he decides to play alone...if so that's shit as and we won't be getting it...could anyone please confirm for us ?

The best way to look at it is you, as the host, have the save. So he’ll be able to play through the whole story with you as long as you don’t play without him. But he doesn’t have access to the game without you.

This channel also saved us from getting dying light 2 due to no shared progression...don't understand why no other youtubets mention this during coop reviews it's a very important point.

What happens when two players want to take the same romance path? Do they both get to trigger the cutscene or does the companion choose?
Host handles dialogue.

@@louisfrederick6512 the "main" character is the person who hosted the game. Once a player has started a romance with a character it locks it put for other players. It plays any cutscenes only for them, unless you uncheck the "private dialogue" box. Thats only for romance though. In general any player can advance the main story and the other players and tune into the cutscene from wherever they are in the game world. Its a really good system. You can split up to searchand do errands or work close together and it doesnt punish you.
On split screen co op can I start a campaign with them. Continue without them until they return, then continue when they return?

The main protagonists on the story that are shown in the trailer the guy with the gray hair etc. these are supposedly amazing characters but i understand they are your companions... But if your companions are "filled" with your friends's character are they not in the game? It sound stupid but i was wondering

So for couch coop if I the host create the room and my wife creates a new character can that character with stats / enhancements be used in her solo game, Or require and new character. abasically is all coop created characters locked to the coop requiring new solo characters to be built for solo games? I don't think I like the idea of have 3-4 different characters just for me alone before I even play the game in depth.
I think I’m understanding this right? Characters are locked to the campaign they’re on. So if you and your wife create a game, you can both choose to create a custom character or use a pre-existing character (origin character). Regardless of what you choose, your characters will be locked to that single campaign. If your wife creates her own campaign, she won’t be able to use her character from the campaign she shares with you. She’ll have to start fresh. Hopefully that answers the question 👍

They have patched the problem and let you remove your friends.

I can't understand if this was already addressed in the video, but I want to ask. If I started a campaign as a duo of custom characters, is the host still allowed to make progress when I'm not available to play? Will my character just wait in camp until I'm playing?
Also, for the sake of curiosity, what happens in the reverse? Like if I'm wanting to play, but the host isn't available? If it's just the two of us from the start, will the game demand us both to be present at all times?
The host can play without you, and either bring your custom character with him or leave him at camp. You can’t play that campaign without the host.

Answered nearly every question about co-op for me. Only one remaining. How much of an effect on the world state do the non host characters have? For example, romance. Obviously the host has a ton of option when it comes to romance, at least that's what I've heard from friends who played it. However, will the non host characters be able to engage in romances as well? Or can they simply talk and gather information?
Non-host characters can romance any character as well! There’s really very little the non host characters can’t do honestly
