I personally think the idea of having such a limited run is mental. General Mills should have made this a limited run that was made available to the general public and the boxes be sold at retail. Remember when the Batman V Superman cereal was sold, I wasn't hearing anyone having trouble getting a box of either The Batman or Superman cereals. I am finding it hard to believe General Mills could only afford to print 35000 boxes and that they couldn't afford a proper license deal with Marvel/Disney in terms of getting an actual limited run on this. Yet General Mills was able to afford a licensing deal with WB and DC to make two separate cereals a Chocolate one for Batman and a Cinnamon one for Superman and sell them at various retail outlets not only across The United States but also in Canada (where I am from) too. I would be totally fine if the 3500 was for a special collector's box of Loki Charms, than they mass produced a limited run in a different box for the general public. Again as someone who works in a Grocery Store I am finding it hard to believe and General Mills will really have to convince me on how they could only afford to make 3500 Loki Charms yet could make millions of Batman and millions of Superman cereals

My hot take is that limited editions and limited production is an insanely popular and common way to build hype and drive up the value of non-valuale goods. I'd bet that the 3,500 boxes made was just a strategy to build hype and drive attention. Think about anytime Supreme releases something new, there are insane lines and lots of hype but as soon as it's released, it's sold out.
It's either that or Marvel had only agreed to having 3,500 of these limited boxes produced for whatever reason.
If Loki Charms came out as a typical release (which I wish it did) it would have been greeted with far less enthusiasm than the reality of today.
Not only that but for limited releases like this it's nearlily impossible to guarantee any grocer would actually buy these and stock their shelves with them in a timely manner. Most store don't have the labor hours available to constantly keeping making new spaces and rearranging their displays so they won't buy new SKUs so they can keep their labor budgets down.
This online way of selling them is truly the only way GM can guarantee that people can actually get them when they are supposed to.
But again, I don't really know. I'm just guessing here. I'm not an expert. Just a cereal trend tracker.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that all 1000 people cracked the preorder code? If that's true could you put that in a comment or in the description? I don't know if that's the case, but I can't see any sort of place on the site to put in a code.
