- Traveling from Cairo to Luxor in Egypt we take an overnight train where we have a private sleeping cabin for 10 hours! This was quite the experience here in Egypt.

If you re still in Egypt and have some time, i recommend you spend a couple of days in either Sharm El sheikh, Hurghada or Dahab. They have super nice resorts over there where you could go for snorkeling and Scuba diving.

AH that looks so amazing! We've always wanted to visit Egypt and that train looks like a pretty unique experience! We're hoping to get the chance to vlog the Trans Siberian Railway through Russia soon, it'll be our first overnight train trip!
BeyondYour Doorstep check out the flights! We got better deal flying $90 from Cairo to Aswan -less than an hour comfortable flight instead of 14 hours since train is always late. Take the train to Luxor after you finish with Aswan for a short 4 hours; then take another flight back to Cairo. We saved precious time and it was comfortable. Airbnb $ for nice, large and comfortable apartments. So no need to think about saving a night rental by taking the train.

Tat least the overnight train in Egypt is much nicer than the ones I took from Rome to Paris! I was with 3 French women and 1 African woman. The room was pretty tight!

I miss Egypt so much,you made me remember these days at the train station when I had to go the university of Assuit .anyway enjoy there.
We booked a tour from Cairo to Luxor for a Nile cruise and luckily we get to fly. When I was your age I got on a 13 hour train ride from Moscow to Leningrad. It was so cold our breath froze and we woke up with frost on our blankets.

This video was a lot of fun! I love seeing both viewpoints, yours and Josh, and the different ways they can be filmed and edited. The videos on this channel are extremely well produced, keep up the great work.
Took the train from Cairo to Aswan and from Luxor to Cairo. This train is marketed as something special for a ridiculously high price, but it is substandard in every respect. The wagons are old and not maintained. They have been refitted with newer interiors, but not well maintained either. Overall, the maintenance both in the compartments and and common areas is dreadful. Nothing works. The cabinet door at the wash basin doesn’t stay closed. The upholstery on the seats on the lower bunk is worn and filthy. The electrical outlet inside the cabinet didn’t work. One of the panes on the double glass panel was apparently broken and had not been replaced so soot and sand accumulated on the surfaces inside the compartment during the journey. One of us ordered a vegetarian meal. It consisted of French fries, boiled vegetables with no sauce or seasoning and plain rice. The train arrived at Aswan nearly fours late. In short, this is the train from hell. Pay the extra and take a flight or just take the chair car for much less money if you can’t afford to fly.

We didn’t want to fly
A friend and I took this train in the Spring of 1971...We were too late to book a sleeper car...The regular seats were COMPLETELY full...Two Egyptian men got up and gave us their seats while they sat on the floor...Luxor was a sleepy little town...our hotel cost 50 cents a night...there were virtually no tourists. I am so glad I experienced Egypt in this way.....

It does remind me of trains you see in old western movies and I wouldn’t like the strange hours things are done like ordering breakfast 🥞 at four thirty in the morning ? Why not travel America in a sleeper car on Amtrak? They're old but actually quite nice, and on the western long-distance routes they still have cooked-to-order food in the dining car.

Can you give us direction from Giza station to the Sleeping Trains reservations office? When you come out the entrance do you turn left right. Is there one at Rameses station?
I believe so, cuz Ramsis station is the main one, you should head to there help desk and reserve your ticket.

I’m going to Egypt now in January. And when I look up how to buy tickets from Cairo to Luxor, they say it’s best to do it a few days in advance. I can only reserve online via an app called Ernst.
Is it possible to buy a ticket for a night train (single cabin) from Cairo to Luxor in person, only a day before the trip? Or must it be done in advance?

I went to Luxor a few months a go and we went in the same train but the biggest problem is that the train kind of vibrates a lot which is the worst thing
