He was much more than a great singer, he used the video platform flawlessly to entertain fans, and is the biggest reason that MTV was successful in the 80s. I grew up listening to the Jackson 5 in the early 70s, but I did not fully appreciate Michael Jackson's talent until the 80s where his singing, dancing and acting talents were put on full display in his videos. What a great talent, he influenced an entire generation all over the world.
