Welcome to the first video of 2023! In this video I will be taking a look at the NECA 1/4th scale Catwoman from Batman Returns.

Very impressive figure, love the box. Some licencing issues with the names etc. I love that battle damage, that's a hard thing to portray. I'm with you on the full mask, the expression does look good when on. Love the whip idea with a wire. Overall a very nice piece. Poor budgie!
Ah, that’s what it was, licensing problems. Overall, a really nice figure. Catwoman will be featured again when I bring all 3 together for a battle of the NECA 1/4th scale trophy of greatness.
I'm pretty sure they called it the Cat based on the batman returns promotional material, the Bat, the Cat and the Penguin. I would assume they were going to do figures of the Bat, the Cat and the Penguin but probably dropped the idea at some point, they never did make the Returns Batman.

She made her claws with what are called seam-rippers. They are really used in sewing to remove stitches and cut through seams.

Great Reviews! I have all 3 of these figures as well (bought them & then saw your vids) I enjoy the Michael Keaton franchise of Batman, so HAD to get these. What’s your opinion on taking them out of the boxes? I understand you’ve done it for the vlog. I’m torn about doing it.. Although I don’t plan on reselling them 😂
Thank you for your kind comment. I pretty much take everything out of their boxes as that’s how they’re meant to be enjoyed. But that’s just my opinion. I know a lot of people that keep their figures in boxes and they do look great. Depends on how you want to display them, as no stands come with them so you’ll need to think about doll stands etc. either way, enjoy them how you want to 👍👍
She referred herself as the cat in one scene. The scene where she pierced through Batman’s suit/armor she says, “Who’s the man behind the bat, maybe you can help me find the woman behind THE CAT.”

The head sculpt with the hair is really nice, it looks exactly like Michelle Pfeiffer.
I saw some photos of this figure online and the arms should move outwards at the shoulder as well if you want, but as it's NECA the joints will likely be stuck so it's best not to force them.

It’s NECA, it’s exactly how I’d expect it to be. Looks the part, but on a practical level falls short. The joints need forcing/bending to get them to move. It’s just in of those things. Every NECA figure I have needs that treatment, unfortunately.

It would be so cool to see that. I don’t think they ever got that far in the aspects of design. Unless I’ve missed out on something there. Oh to think how it could of been. It does make me wonder if Robin will be mentioned in the up-coming The Flash though?
@@MattandTheRetroRoom yup good question I just watched the trailer, but awhile back I did hear this rumor a certain character would make a cameo from the Burton verse or Joel Schumacher verse, maybe his Robin ,I’m assuming
I’ve heard the same, although, the director of The Flash did say (a long time ago though) that this film would ignore the Batman Forever and Batman & Robin films. So that would rule out anything from the latter director. But that was said in 2020 just before production started, plus they keep changing and reshooting loads so anything is possible at the moment.
I stayed up as it was 11pm in the UK for the trailer release and I’m still hyped for it.
I just got her and loved her so much. The hands though is hard to put it in the ball joint. I’m scared to break the pegs so I don’t pop it in with force. With the whip it has a long stran I tied that to the other side of her arm so it looks like the whip is going around her. Also I just subbed thank you for this review
So glad you like it! I think it’s a great figure. Fitting the hand on this particular figure can be tricky, as the hands are very fragile. You could always use a file and remove excess plastic either on the joint or socket. Some people have suggested using a drill bit and turn it in the socket to open it up a bit more. Personally I prefer using a file as you have more control albeit, it does take longer.
The whip is great, and great tip you have on how to display it on the figure 😀

Is there another one coming? I was unaware of that, I will have a look. I’m planning a revisit to this figure soon, like what I did with the 1/4 Keaton Batman figure from NECA.

Of course! As mentioned, I will be doing another video featuring all 3. It will be good to look at Batman, as I’ve had that for nearly a year now and he’s a bit of a bugger to live with.
The Catwoman looks pretty good. The Neca 89 Keaton however, is not a very accurate sculpt. The cowl details are all wrong and the muscle work looks as if it was referenced from someone's 89 fan made cosplay rather than the actual suit. Same with Hot Toy's 89 Keaton. Cowl is not accurate. The only company that came close to sculpting an accurate 89 cowl was Mezco. Their One: 12 Keaton Batman is almost spot on from every angle. I judge based on my urethane copy of a real production 89 cowl. It's a tough one to get right.
I recently got Catwoman from neca just heads up plastic is very fragile this not a toy at all. So far a fingers claw came off and one prong on taser fell off. Luckily I could glue on claw again but taser prong fell off from falling off her boot to hard floor.
Sorry to hear that. I can’t say I’ve experienced the same problems. I know she doesn’t stand up very well, and the included stand is fairly useless. I wouldn’t class this as a toy as it’s very much a collectors item, but that’s no excuse for the plastic to break like that. Sounds like you have managed to sort it though 👍

The name is the biggest mystery. If it was a 3rd party , then I could get it being called ‘the Cat’ it just doesn’t make sense, they clearly have the license, so how come they didn’t call it Catwoman ?
I think it’s artist license myself. But who knows what the T’s & C’s are for their licensing. Doesn’t matter though.

Not too far off. I got this one during a sale, I think it was around £110 or around $138. I’d definitely pick up a Hot Toys version if there was one 😀
@@MattandTheRetroRoom ok it's kinda different in the UK as they start 130 but shipping fees plus they then shoot up in price the older batman is 200 at least in the UK
I must of got lucky. I picked up the re-release Batman for £140 and the Penguin again for £110.
