The reason for the zip tie on the regulator is because the PCA Porsche club recommended it as a solution to the problem of the regulator not dropping the few millimeters. They proposed that the problem was caused by cable slack. It is a free possible fix so i tried it. It did not work for me so now ill install the URO regulator. Thanks for this great instruction.
You just have to make sure that you are releasing the lock all the way. If the plastic piece is not coming out then the lock is not being completely released. Kurt
Kelley, So far I have not had any problems with them. It is important though that you clean the window guide channels and also correctly adjust the window to ensure a trouble free operation. thanks Kurt
Thanks for getting back with me. I just installed the URO window regulator about 3 weeks ago on my 986. I've had bad luck with 2 china window regulators. What I know now I would have bought the OEM window regulator for 265 dollars and been done with it. So much of the after market parts today is just complete trash. Hopefully this URO part will last awhile . Just go with OEM parts.
Hi there! My after I have replaced the window regulator on my Porsche Cayman 987,I have this problem..the window goes up and down if I press on the button like impulse, the micro switch are ok on my car,I have done the test, but if I am pressing on the button for the window to go down, it's not stopping at the edge of the door frame ,it keeps going all the way down, and if I try to get it back up,is hitting the inside door frame, and I need to get it back by sliding a credit card and guide the glass and press the up botton, and all ok,but like I have said..I don't know how to make it stop before it goes all the way down and inside the door, passing the door frame limit...pleas help.Thank you!😊
It's a pleasure to watch someone who knows the job. Thank you sir

A zip tie will never repair a worn regulator. If there is excessive slack in the cable then the part is just worn out.
Kurt
Thanks for the regulator stopper tip, that detail saved my project.

Great video! But how do you remove the door handle cable ?? The little white plastic holder at the end of the cable is stuck !
You just have to make sure that you are releasing the lock all the way. If the plastic piece is not coming out then the lock is not being completely released.

How do you program the window if the distance is off when opening and closing?
The body module controls the amount of drop. However if the window is adjusted to high the window will not drop enough to clear the seals.

How do like the URO window regulator? I bought one for the driver's side but have not installed it. Please let me know. I would really appreciate.
Kelley,

thanks Kurt
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.
Just had to take out a URO regulator … unknown how long it was installed but looked fairly new
The slots for the cable closest to the motor came apart

My windows can roll down by the button but it doesn’t roll down when i open the door
Then the micro switch on the door is most likely bad.

You are going to have to pull the door panel back off and see why the window is not hitting the bottom stop.
