    What is magical about Rory Gallagher is that nobody has ever said a bad word about him. He ll be remembered as a very modest, humble man as well as being a guitar virtuoso. What I also like is the respect he gets from other great guitar players like Brian May, Slash and Alex Lifeson to name a few. Rory was taken all to soon but his legacy will live on forever. RIP Rory G.

      I just watched a documentary about him, and the local music store owner said he was ...’ well raised’. Even as a teenager he would come into the store and was soft spoken and polite. I thought that was quite telling.♥️

      Gerry has a chip on his shoulder regarding Rory….oddly…..hell say all the right stuff but after i read his Riding Shot Gun i realized he was an enabler one and two not a true friend in the least. A real shame if you ask me….went to to the Rory fest and saw band of friends realizing he did it for show business and income. Odd guy if you ask me. Just so strange ….maybe like an envious brother more or less

      I think Rory was a guy that was truly a "one of" A true great who was uncomfortable hearing himself talk about music as opposed to playing it.
      In this type of setting and with the questions from the interviewers I think alot of people would feel uncomfortable.
      RIP Rory....your music and your actions will always live on in our hearts!

    I did this interview, some 35 years ago now. What really hits me was just how quiet and shy he was off air. That is until he picked up a guitar (he had one with him) and he immediately became more "himself". Such a gentleman, self effacing for sure, but a lovely person. And so greatly missed

    • @cynthiamarston2208
      @cynthiamarston2208 Před 3 lety +4

      MRSA or another one….Cytomegalovirus..CMT…..its one that is harbored in a lot of peoples systems and not causing trouble but with transplants it can and does come alive and over populate. I researched it. Liver failure too. Your right regarding alcohol ….it was the large amount of tylenol he was prescribed….its OTC now and also the steroid shots he was given (which is why he got bloated ) crush the immune system. Apparently he had too much pain from tendonitus….his hands mostly. His brother said he was nearly at deaths door when he finally consented to hospital. You can be sure he was in hell. Insomnia is a side effect of liver function loss as well as other things….no escape is what comes to mind. Just hell. Its such an outrage to me. Plus liver failure brings on changes to personality…..and most unpleasant thought …bad breath! Just cant imagine that but its how it goes. Drinking does the changes to personality too. I read he quit two around one year sober times per Gerry In Riding Shotgun. And hed ask others suffering who got sober how do you do it and always be concerned and kind to anyone who was in ill health but not talk about his own ill health and drinking gone south. Tylenol and steroids ( and mixing) killed him more than alcohol. I know the drill regarding alcohol. Had to quit it took over a decade!

    The funny thing is that the presenters and audience are embedded in the 1980s kitsch whereas Rory Gallagher isn't. Rory Gallagher actually appears modern and with it whereas everthing else in the program is stuck in the 80s. It shows that Rory was other worldly he will never date.

But from 1987 on he had really problems with his health. And he knew. But the worse thing was, that he took meds-cocktails. Paracetamol as injections and other bad things like steroids. He thought, it would help to be on stage like he was in earlier times. But it didn`t work. I love Rory! He trusted too much in doctors. An Angel !
