I'm a valley boy, my eldest boy is living in Ohio after having enough of the nonsense in the UK. Seems like little has changed. Very enjoyable, thanks for sharing that. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

As a Welshman, I, too, emigrated to escape the poverty and despair of South Wales some fifty years ago. I'm glad I did, as I have more than I could ever have achieved back home.

You're exaggerating the poverty a bit. South Wales is certainly far better off than Argentina at the moment.

50 yrs ago was 1974. There was no poverty and despair then. They were still rebuilding from WWII. Wilson was PM, white heat of the technological revolution etc.
Not like today when the shops are shuttered and we've got people sleeping in doorways.
Did they used to call you "Tosh" at school cos that's what your'e talking.

    Ggawchos.
Many of the miners of S Wales originally hailed from Devon and Somerset during the 1870s agricultural depression.

Fascinating, I would like to see more but alas the library does not have an English translation and although my middle name is Evans I can make neither hide nor hair of the Welsh lingo.
