I have never been in the Arena di Verona and probably will not be able to go to that glorious place for the rest of my life. However I congratulate the artists, conductors, filmakers who make posible to watch these gorgeous productions at home.

This is a wonderful production. A real treat. The singing is outstanding and so is the staging. I just hate when an opera is modernized. No mater how good the singing is, that just messes up the whole opera. This is how it is meant to be. You can all be very proud. I know Verdi would be. Doesn't get any better than this. Than you so much for uploading this for all to enjoy.

"I just hate when an opera is modernized." Really? "This is how it is meant to be." Is that so? Nabucco is set in ancient Babylon. This staging sets it in the mid 19th Century. I'd call that quiet a substantial modernization.

How can you "hate" modern staging and like this? Verdi intended the staging and costumes to be from 587 BC.

@@mianom It isn’t bad, but I would have liked to see it how it was intended also.

@jackhamm1745 Actually, it's not "mild" if it is thousands of years apart... He is right - the events belong to their own time, and substitutes don't add value to the performance.

J'ai vu la version de 1971, c'était Nabucco. Là, c'est de bons chanteurs dans un spectacle abominable

This opera deserves time accurate costumes! No excuse for those "domestic improvers" discarding genius' intent. It's like painting over the Mona Lisa ...to modernize it (if you let them they'll do it).

Why make this production look like Verdi's time instead of 587 BC?

Beautifully done, very colorful and grand. But oh boy - this time segment, modernization and costume mismatch is a buzz killer.

Wait a minute - I attended a performance of Nabucco in July 2022 at the Arena di Verona. Is this a film of that performance? That would be amazing!
