this is the smartest I have ever felt playing magic: the gathering. thank u dan for having me on love u all
Any time my friend xo
Alan and tk were hilarious this game. Makes me wish that pwp had the table-talk in more of their videos
thats one of my favorite parts of doing these, love bringing the table talk to life!
I really enjoy their masterpieces for that reason. I get it's a LOT on the editing front, hence the low number of videos, but they're some of my favorites for sure.
@@TheSheeplesChamp absolutely. That last masterpieces video was incredibly funny.
Love to see someone else playing my sweet lagoon mommy Muldrotha in cEDH. I've been coming back to her and really trying to make it work with hermit druid.
Thanks for giving us another great game!
Excellent game. Everyone had some good plays.
Now im looking at muldrotha...
When you have the LED, Muldrotha looks extremely hot
The Charlie card killed me
Liked for cute cat!
PARTY LIKE ITS EPISODE 99!
Dan
14:06 How did Alan tap Jaxis right away? I don’t believe he could have blitzed it in, as both blitz and the cast-for-free from Etali are both alternate casting costs, and you can’t pick two alternate casting costs (from what I’m aware)
Good catch, you're correct! Gatherer says you can pay additional costs but not alternate costs, you have permission to cancel Alan on Twitter dot com
Etali is in fact not an alternate casting cost. Youre casting it without paying its mana cost which means you can cast using alt costs. For example If an effect lets you cast spells without paying their mana cost you can cast flashback spells with said effect for free
You can't blitz it in off Etali, obviously @@joeyholubek3960
@@joeyholubek3960 as i know you can't. You cant cast overloaded spells and they are alternate cost, so you can't cast blitz. You can however pay additional cost, like X spells or buyback.
What are those sweet tokens TK is using?
They are from luxury playstyle, pwp is sponsored by them.
Algorithm beats
Bless your heart
6:22 Could TK have let the Phimage resolve and with the ETB targeting Dockside have responded with Culling the Weak, preventing Eric from getting a Tymna because Phimage would die due to state based actions?
Phimage doesn’t target bro. TK made the right move there
Etb doesn’t target, it’s an “as it enters” replacement effect not a “when it enters” trigger
As much as I think Alan is a supercool dude...
I feel like if you manage to cast your 7 mana commander with its splashy ETB, hit a tutor, then copy said commander and its splashy ETB, and still not manage to win the game - perhaps the commander isn't quite cEDH-viable 😢
I'm not so sure it is the best deck either but I don't think winning is necessarily Alan's motivation
@@ModAnonMTG which is definitely okay. But it does have some tension with the stated goals of cEDH as a format. And whereas in regular competitive formats, playing a suboptimal deck only hurts yourself, in cEDH, you're also affecting the balance of the pod as a whole.
Anyway, not judging anyone, and I fully realise this isn't a qualitative difference but a matter of degree. But I felt it was worth pointing out.
Having fun is the motivation. Winning is also part of the motivation. I also understand that 8 random cards isn't necessarily gonna win. I think in non tournament cEDH games it's a perfect viable commander.
