    I am very new to art and especially to watercolors. You used some brilliant colors that I have never heard of. Thank you so much for your generosity in creating the video, your explanations and your talent. I will save it and watch it several times in order to try to understand your techniques.

      Thank you for watching and for your kind words! How exciting that you have found watercolours - they are the most magical medium (in my opinion 😊). I remember when I returned to painting after a very, very long break I discovered all these new colours that I never knew existed so it was so exciting to paint again and play with all of those beautiful paints. Have fun!!

    Hi! I was wondering have you studied nita engles seascapes techniques at all? Part of this video kind of reminded me of her when you were doing the wave. Love love love your channel and content! ❤
    P.s. What could i possibly mix for a trans red oxide?

    • @AnastasiaMily
      @AnastasiaMily  Před měsícem +1

      Yes! I bought Nita Engle's "How to Make a Watercolor Paint Itself" book probably around fifteen years ago and it was a massive influence when I was learning to paint
      in a loose style. It is one of my favourite watercolour books ever. Nita's techniques are out of this world. I haven't picked up that book in a long while, so I thank you for reminding me about it - I am going to sit down and pore over all those pages to gather inspiration. And thank you for watching my videos too 😊
      I am afraid I am not sure what a good substitute for Transparent Red Oxide could be... I often use Burnt Sienna if I need a warm reddish brown but it doesn't granulate, and TRO has such unique granulation, it kind of looks like rust. If you are after its granulation, and if you have Potter's Pink, I would probably mix Potter's Pink with Burnt Sienna, or Burnt Umber for a darker brown....

    With the sky, after the initial wash did you add water just to the paint or did you spray?

    • @AnastasiaMily
      @AnastasiaMily  Před měsícem

      I dropped some water into the paint with my large brush after the initial wash

  • @m2portal610
    @m2portal610 Před měsícem

    Beautiful work! I have many paints but no granulating paints. If you were to buy only one or two…aiming to paint skies and seas, which would you recommend? If you could possibly respond today, I could buy them on sale! Tytyty Ellen

    • @AnastasiaMily
      @AnastasiaMily  Před měsícem

      Thank you so much! I love Manganese Blue Hue by Daniel Smith for painting sunny skies, and it granulates. Sodalite Genuine is a beautiful dark and moody blue, and French Ultramarine is very vibrant and I use it a lot. These are warm blues so I use them for the stormy scenes like this one. Cerulean Blue and Cobalt Blue granulate too. Hope you find a granulating colour to play with - they are such fun!

    How could you create the solidare genuine color in the sky?

    • @AnastasiaMily
      @AnastasiaMily  Před měsícem

      Try mixing French Ultramarine with a bit of Burnt Umber - I tried it a few times and the results look quite similar to Sodalite Genuine!
