It's heartwarming to see that Dan is keeping Ross' habit of giving saves nonsensical names alive even though it used to annoy him back when they were a team.
I love how Dan's gone from the simple straightforward save names like "custard pie", to insane names like Ross's that still announce an important item/event that's happened so you can keep track of what's happened.

Rewatching through the various sierra playthroughs. Helps my anxiety, especially in the quarantine stuff... drifted off to sleep and woke up to Ben's edits. I think this is the first time I've been genuinely upset at an edit.
As much as I love both Arin and Dan, there is just nothing better than this. Dans smooth quiet voice, Dan having fun playing a game of his past sharing it with us, and Dan's stories make this a perfect ride.

They both have such different vibes when they're doing solo playthroughs
Arin's gives the vibe of your best friend who you've been w forever who you think is going through it, but reality he knows you're the one whose just a bit stressed and is trynna cheer you up. Also it's 4 am and you're both just a bit delirious.
Dan is more like just sitting you down and he wants you to just like, experience this cool world he's been with since childhood, and is almost telling it to you like it's a story book filled with whimsy and adventure... But also the fish keeps on not taking the bait and things keep on happening not quite the way either of you expected.
Idk the playthroughs have such a nice vibe tho it's so much better when they're together
I really like it when Dan plays these Sierra games solo, though, just because they are already quiet with just smatterings of music.

Could just be me, but I feel like the names of the fairies should be switched. Genesta sounds more sinister and evil, while Lolotte sounds a lot more happy and friendly.
I started by just listening and I pictured the names as Jenesta and Lolat and idk it made more sense to me
Lolotte is a bit weird for me: In French, my first language, it's the very familiar/cute diminutive of Laurence or Charlotte. Yet it reminds me of the Dark Elves goddess Lolth/Lloth, which is... pretty mean. So there's some dissonance in my brain each time they talk about Bad Fairy Lolotte x)

Okay I gotta say, for how old and "primitive" the technology was at this time, they did a phenomenal job with designing the world and making the art so that it looks really beautiful. There's a surprising amount of detail and just enough going on to help you imagine what it looks like in your head.
Good job to the people who made this game.
These games are all amazing. I never had a computer growing up when these games came out but I can picture myself completely mesmerized playing them if I had a pc

@@DeathnoteBB If I had to wager a guess, since it's being played through the browser, whoever designed the site wanted to pool all save files so they'd be easier to find and keep bloat to a minimum. It seems better than tracking save files through cookies, which could be susceptible to data loss through a user-end purge or something like that.
1:15:00 For those of you who don't know: when you bought this game it came with a booklet. In the back of the booklet were a number of blank pages. If you ran a highlighter over the pages words would appear that tell you secrets to beating the game. It's the only way my sister and I got through it when it came out. We played this thing to death and back with and without the notes. This was easily our favorite game to play together.

I think our boy got emotional upon winning his favorite game :) as a person with similar emotions tied to old, nostalgic games of my childhood, I thoroughly enjoy any of Dan's revisits to these adventures. Hearing his connection to it/them brings a lot of happiness, not only to him (obviously) but to myself, and to all of you out there! I join everyone in hoping he does more! (and hoping there won't be any more obnoxious, off-putting edits mixed in, too)
I had an incredibly tough day at work. Full of stress and a family I worked with to have somewhere to stay for the night so they wouldn't be out on the streets in freezing weather. This playthrough with Dan's soothing voice really helped me through it. I really enjoy these one-off's or whatever you may call them. Thank You. I hope for more in the future. And I hope for more good people in this world.

Given that the lead creator of the King's Quest games, Roberta Williams, you know, WAS a woman, I don't think it was such a big deal that KQ4 had a female lead. It was just an adventure game that happened to have a woman as the protagonist. People weren't so obsessed with gender and representation back then, they just focused on making good games.

Nothing brings me more joy than watching Dan experience joy from an 80's game.
I'm so glad I found this. The King's Quest games were my absolute favorite as a kid, and four was the absolute best! I remember every little thing.
This supports my disney-ish wish of having Dan read books for Audible.

Same thing here. He's so calming. Maybe some kids books? "Pigs make me sneeze" by Mo Willems is my favorite book. Love for him to do Gerald's (the elephant's) voice. Just his natural voice will do. His voice is adorable to listen to.

@@CastleToastM No edits at all is a let's play. The Game Grumps channel is a let's play channel first and foremost. A stream implies interaction with the audience IMO.
Yes some of Ben's less intrusive edits are sometimes appreciated, but they aren't necessary tbh. People don't watch the Grumps for the editor, but he can be a tool to enhance the experience. Since his inception Ben is more of an inconvenience to my viewing experience because like this case, he makes it about himself rather than the playthrough.
