Why isn’t call of duty declassified not cannon to the OP timeline ??? Alex, Mason, Hudson, and Woods and another CIA operative kill Menendez‘s dad in the game and basically cuts in between Black ops two timeline and Cold War but yet it’s not mentioned on the timeline. Why is that ??
Its funny that everyone missed the biggest detail about Woods is that in every mission that involves a sniper rifle with the exception of the one where we play as him, he never used a sniper rifle Woods is not the best with sniping which is quite odd that in the mission where Hudson tells Mason to trust him Hudson perfectly accounts the skillset of both operators and chose Mason as the body double for Menendez because he knows Woods is not comfortable as a sniper which makes sense for Mason to be Alive
Of course Alex is dead for the BO6 campaign, canonically he isnt discovered to be alive until 2025. So as far as Frank Woods and the CIA is concerned in 1991 Alex is dead. If they do a BO7 set after 2025 then Alex could be alive
Yes exactly, from Woods perspective he is dead. And to fight the “in woods character” to go for the headshot” opinion, woods and mason found some intel in the bo2 campaign about something feeling off so it could’ve been possible for Woods to not go for the headshot. If u disagree with this then you should replay the campaign and find the intel and listen to the Woods and Mason dialogue about something feeling off during the sniper mission

I still believe that the devs only meant that he is only „confirmed KIA“ during BO6. Hearing from other sources no developer said „ALEX MASON IS GUARANTEED DEAD BY 1989“. They only told cryptic messages like „confirmed KIA“ and „believed to be dead by BO6“

Call it copium if you want, but man, they really did Alex Mason dirty. The fact that soap got more spotlight in the MW reboot than Mason really annoys me. Heck, i would say alejandro had more spotlight than A. Mason in the warzone era games only. I AM kinda mad about him being dead, but i'm mostly annoyed that he got done like this without having that much spotlight.

You know, after his dad passing away in the military I don’t see David joining up until he needed to, I think he saw what happened on 9/11 maybe even was in NY at the time too, which I hope they’d show in a mission tbh. Making him actually wanna join up with a vengeance. I’d love to see a prequel for how Section started his career. Maybe have them go back to a kind of more basic story until the end, kind of like WAW, no spec ops or whatever, have David be part of an actual unit and show how combat was actually like in Iraq and Afghanistan. I’d love to see some CQB mission in Fallujah as well, having them go in and destroying tunnel systems throughout the city, have it all be super tense as well just like it was during that battle.

1. Mason's death emphasized Menendez's cunning and ruthlessness as a villain.
2. Woods was blinded by rage against Menendez in the entire flashback, makes sense for him to go for a head or center shot just because he heard the name "Menendez"
Treyarch was right, this was the best narratively.
Also the ending of Woods and David at Alex's grave was bittersweet especially with woods in his uniform.
Masons death is basically in a schrodinger's cat situation at the moment. Whether if he is canonically dead or alive, in 1991 he is officially classified as dead. He can be dead or alive at that the moment but if the box is never opened, Alex Mason is both alive and dead.
Isnt literally the whole plot of Alex Mason being MIA for the entire life of David Mason...and Frank Woods not knowing that his best friend that he shot is still alive

i really hate that they tried tying in modern warfare into black ops...and zombies. why cant these clearly separate ideas that had their own stories and intentions be...you know, their own stories. because now none of the games or modes have ANY stakes if they don't keep pushing into the future because we know for a fact that nothing happens as we have literally seen the future. either do a full reset or just keep them separate. it also de-values all types of alternate endings such as mason which is fucking irritating considering it was a reward for being thorough and was played off like the true ending of the game

Downside with David mason post launch post is that after he visits his dads grave he basically is down with the military so if anything they could do a game based around David Mason
It’s just a bad reveal for a major character death instead of it being a big moment in the actual game and an actual shock on a really speculated death just to reveal it to creators I kinda just gets rid of the major shock because most people thought he was alive and revealing it in game would of made it more special and revealing

Realistically, Woods is convinced that the face behind the bag is Menendez, so he shoots him in the head and Mason dies.
It makes more sense that Mason is dead bc woods thought that Mason was menendez

Man.... I really want to see black ops game with young David Mason in the army. Would be really great if in next year we get black ops, that continue story from bo6 and take place in 1996 to 2005 or 2008 (this will be really perfect from treyarch and this will set us for black ops 2 sequel in 2028).
But damn... Still hope that bo6 will cover not only the Gulf War with 1991s, but and the others 90s as well (maybe in post launch).

Come back to this in a few months: the reason treyarch hasn’t told us about Case (the character we play as in BO6) is because that character is Mason. Idk how they’re going to spin that, but that’s my theory

Get a bunker key & look for foresight, the wsp 9 is the gun I used for all of mine. His riot shield strat ain’t all that useful with everyone else doing it.
If zone is in water hide under a dock in the water after you get your load out. Make sure you have ghost for the rats in the lobby & go after it lol.

Orrrr.. hear me out.. Mason is dead.. in Wood's mind. Shooting Mason was such a traumatic event for Woods that it's all he remembers.. Mason has been alive this whole time. But he remembers everything else. Section decides not to tell Woods about Mason still being alive to keep obtaining information from him about Raul Menendez. What is Woods has developed dementia so bad that all he remembers is killing Mason, but also remembers the critical points of his past missions.

But MW 2019, MWII and MWIII actually replace BO2 until BO 2025 comes out next year ! I'm sure they will do a remake of BO2 in 2025, named differently, with David Mason working with TF 141 because the year 2025 of BO2 is way too advanced than the IRL year 2025 and currently in MWIII year 2024, the loadouts aren't futuristic. Plus BO2 timeline clearly doesn't fit with the established WZ timeline. Side note, I bring MW because young Imran Zakhaev is in Cold War. The real timeline rn is:

They're gonna have to decanonize bo3-4 due to the death of Raul Menendez. It wouldn't match up with the current timeline. Since mw and Bo share the same timeline it's impossible for the futuristic 2025 levels to be apart of the canon timeline because mw2 and mw3 takes place in 2022/2023. There's no way bo2 future levels could fit now in the timeline and that removal of the canon makes bo3/4 fucked up in story

I wouldn’t mind if they made 3 and 4 noncanon or rebooted them because one just didn’t flow right and the other didn’t have a campaign.
An official statement from The Truth Lies. I’ll believe Alex lives until I play the campaign for myself. As for my original thoughts of Mason being alive, I honestly think he won’t be involved in the base campaign; that story is focused on Adler and Woods, this is their story. Seasons 1 through 6 are good opportunists to bring him back, but not in a way we’d recognize right off the bat. Now that I think about it, it’d be almost clever to have Reznov as an operator. Not only hinting some continuity to Black Ops 4’s “campaign”, but also subtly hinting this could be an alias for Mason. Or maybe Mason uses his relative’s name from World at War, like the Intel you’d read in the terminals.
I’m honestly more shocked that they excluded Black Ops 2 ‘25, the fan-favorite CoD, from the Black Ops Timeline. They have World at War, Black Ops 3, and even Black Ops 4…but they excluded Cordis Die. I’m sensing not only a Final Fantasy VII/Resident Evil Remake of Black Ops 2, but I’m cautiously dreading over severe retcons for games beyond 2025. Raul, Reznov, and Mason are alive in Black Ops 4’s “Campaign” Intel, and you just told me Black Ops 3’s campaign doesn’t happen until Raul dies and all hell breaks loose. I’m not only worried how much they’re going to retcon, I’m terrified that this might be Activision’s lamest excuse to remake Black Ops 3 without Jetpacks. That would be criminally lazy as all fucking hell!

That would be a really weak misdirection if they went with the whole "The Truth Lies" and Mason is alive.
Most people are already hoping that's the case and this misdirect won't amount to much other than a "I told you so" from most of the community.
That being said I feel like that's what is going to happen, and I'll role my eyes. They have no confidence in ACTUALLY killing Mason.
I always felt like it's just a cool EE that you can save Mason, not like it SHOULD be canon.
It's just really dumb, it's great and makes for a cool moment, but doesn't make much sense.

And NOW that Menendez is gone he can come out of the hole he's been hiding in after almost 40 years. Plausible, yet silly, and it doesn't fit the unapologetic and unforgiving tone of the Black Ops narrative/series.
Bo2 future is not cannon because most most technology in bo2 is not being shown in MW3 . And Menendez has never been mentioned. I want Menendez to be dead . And Makarov to take his place
