    • @Crash7039

      @@scettico... You have 2 main wincons in the deck, Aetherflux Reservoir and Golem Foundry. Aetherflux Reservoir will allow you to gain an insane amount of life and then nuke people for 50 damage (at the cost of 50 life yourself). Golem Foundry will amass an insane board of 3/3's. The latter is more difficult, as it can be easily board wiped, but that's why he included Temporal Fissure as a backup/pseudo wincon. That will allow you to bounce all your opponents permanents to their hands, clearing the way for you to smack face!

    Thran Temporal Gateway, as well as cards to retrieve and recover it from removal are a great addition if you're looking to build this into a deck with an aggro wincon that can put an absurd number of very large and often indestructible artifact creatures into play. Works very well in Arena standard Jhoira builds as well.

    • @TheCommandersQuarters
      @TheCommandersQuarters  Před 5 lety

    One question I have though is how have you decided your commanders so far, and how do you plan on choosing new ones?

    • @TheCommandersQuarters
      @TheCommandersQuarters  Před 6 lety +4

      A fair question.
      So far these have been my own commanders. I like building around commanders that I feel like are unique, or ones that I can build in a way that no one expects.
      On choosing new ones, I am still going to build in the same way. I spend far too much time thinking of new decks and new ways to build with commanders.

    I’ve been playing Jhoira for about 6 months now and making it progressively stronger and faster each iteration. She is absolutely my favorite Commander in the game. This may be a budget build but there are a lot of hidden gems in this video I’ve overlooked that easily can replace less than optimal pieces in even the most powerful builds. Kudos to you and great work on this video.

    This is an awesome starting point, I adjusted mine for some infinite Mana combos by raiding a friend's trade folder, they may be over budget, but paradox engine and words of wind truly make this list really dangerous. I'm back, after considerable hiatus. I love this commander. The deck is nowhere near budget anymore, and looking to get even more expensive (Hello Mishra's Workshop) but this is the only deck that Ive found consistent and powerful enough to go all in. I did alter a few things as I wentand upgraded, such as throwing Reckless Fireweaver in as a semi-wincon, and Pili-pala/Grand Architect for inf mana. One of the tech choices I never expected to put in was Mana Severance, which has drastically magnified the decks consistency. Altar of the Brood is a sneaky good card, and combining it with Words of Wind and two "comes into play untapped" mana rocks is another wincon most don't see coming.
    I had to come back and just say: Thank you, Mitch. I wanted a deck based around artifacts, and card draw, and you helped me get a start with this budget decklist. She's still getting improved to this day.

I loved the idea as soon as I saw it and ordered the cards immediately. I got the cards yesterday, sleeved it up, and won my pod today at FNM. After my opponent countered my reservoir, I kept going until I found elixir of immortality and shuffled it all back in and cast mana severance to make sure I keep drawing gas. Fantastic deck and now I want to tune it up piece by piece. Great job and keep it up! I will be waiting to see what else you can come up with for such a tight budget.

    Played this deck for the first time yesterday, all of a sudden my opponent takes over control of Jhoira and i was basically screwed since my draw engine was gone and i had no way of killing it to return her to my command zone. Then i luckily drew into voyager's staff, wich nevertheless made her return to my side, allowing me to restart the cycle and win the game 😂 was in 1vs1, but it seems the deck is quite vulnerable to stealing effects targetting Jhoira. Liking ur video's alot btw

    • @Altorin

      Mike's right that was my solution too. If your designing this for black decks "search your opponents library for cards and exile them" effects can remove those bad eggs in a pinch.
      In fact a jesters cap in this deck would probably be pretty cool. Can't recur it but it would certainly help protect you from those control effects if you expect them.

    • @TheCommandersQuarters
      @TheCommandersQuarters  Před 6 lety +2

      Definitely a good consideration for the deck, and one that I went back and forth on keeping in or tacking out of the deck. Ultimately it was cut since unless you can kill with it right away, many times putting this card out will immediately draw the ire of the entire table and they will focus everything on you to make sure you don't mill them all out.
      The other wincons also seem to synergize better with the deck as well. But everyone has different play styles, so give it a try and let me know what you think!

    Add a "Words of Wind" and watch your storm go off and Aetherflux fill up as you bounce a sol ring back and forth from your hand with Jhoira out infinitely and gain unlimited colourless. That's before you consider other rocks with the reducers in this deck.
    You'll also watch your friends storm off.... for as little as another 10 (Words of Wind and a couple of Mitch's upgrades) thrown into this deck it can happily take on nearly anything.

    Goblin Charbelcher is often used with Mana Severance. The question is whether your library will be big enough to kill players by the time you find both cards. Untapping Charbelcher with Clock of Omens would help it. Note too how Charbelcher allows stacking the cards put on the bottom of the library.

    Future sight is really good alternative Jhoira in deck. I've played my version of deck reasonable number of games and there is good change to win game even if Jhoira would have been killed too many times to be casted again. Another little pricy but sick good upgrade is Sai, master thopterist it lets u draw cards and use its tokens as manarocks via clock of omens or produce mana if u have more expencive artifacts as Ashnod's altar or khor-clan ironworks. Dramatic reversal+ Isochron sceptre is pretty cheep way to get infinity mana out of our deck if u have total of 3 or more mana that u can produce with your manarocks on battlefield.
    All in all this decktech is sick good and once you know how to play it you can combo off pretty fast so i doesn't get boring to opponents.

    I built basically the same deck as this recently when trying to make brawl work in standard and upgraded it to an edh list. Paradox engine is the single best card in my version, as most of you mana sources are rocks anyway. I've also found sai, master thopterist, as well as the locust God to be reasonable win cons, in addition to the resovoir. Scrap mastery, daretti, and goblin welder help return paradox engine if things go wrong too.

  • @43xbruce

    An amazing artifact that could be added into this deck is Blinkmoth Urn, at around .50$ this card is fantastic in Artifact heavy decks. It gives you colourless mana during your precombat main phase equal to the number of artifacts you control! It's only downsides is the it needs to be untapped (it doesn't tap itself so someone has to use a card to tap it) and it gives the effect to the other players as well, however in a deck that has 60~ artifacts you will get way more use out of it then they will 9 times outta 10!

    As has been said many times before, paradox engine and sensei’s divining top are excellent additions if you can fork out for them. Commander’s sphere, Izzet locket and Izzet cluestone are all good additions for mana fixing and, yes, mox opal is great as well but, again, only if you’re willing to shell out for it. Sai is good as an alternate wincon but can slow the deck down a little with what it initially wants to do unless you have makeshift munitions or krark-clan ironworks so it depends on how quickly you want to go off. Daretti and goblin welder are both great cards that, unfortunately also, slow the deck down a little but allow you to recur key pieces that your opponent/s disposed of earlier.
    An interesting card I use in this deck is scroll rack! It’s saved me often enough when I’ve drawn 3-4-5 lands and need more gas.
    Great deck guys! Keep up the good work!!

    Wow this was nuts. I wanted to suggest this deck to a friend but I don’t know if it’s going to be their style. I just bought the cards for mtgo (less than $10) and did a goldfish online. It was turn 5 and I was going off. It was late at night so I ended up just hitting myself for 100 before too long. Had so many triggers going on the stack for every nearly-free artifact I was casting.
    Legit nuts.
    I wonder how bad it could get messed up.

    I have no idea of you will see this but I watched the video you made just a few days or so ago about this deck and HAD to come watch this original video about it. I LOVE IT!!!! I am currently building it right now and am super excited for it i picked up a mana crypt and chrome mox for it ( My play group is very very competitive so I more or less need to use the more expensive cards for it ) I would love it if you could contact me somehow to suggest and talk about how to make this deck even more deadly!!
    Thank-you very much for this awesome list!!!

    Clock of Omens is the golden pig in SO MANY DECKS. It's just this unassuming 4 mana do nothing that always seems to get involved with busted BS. From using it with Thopter Foundry+Sword of the Meek to make infinite life+tokens with any mana producing artifact to getting gross with Icy Manipulator to breaking the symmetry of Howling Mine to making Kuldotha Forgemaster even more oppressive, it's just this solid effect that puts a smile on my face every time I use it, especially when I'm using it for value rather than going infinite. My favorite application of it is using mutual mill artifacts to untap targeted mill artifacts to have better control over which player mills in Lantern Control EDH (Yes, that deck is unfun, no it doesn't work in multiplayer, yes Artificer's Intuition makes me feel sick).

    • @TheCommandersQuarters

  • @mitchellbennett4257

    I have built this and its obviously pretty similar. However im also running a reckless fireweaver, quicksmith genius. Gives you draw and a psychosis crawler affect.
    Also i run 2 of the 3 nifmiz dragons, psychosis crawler and a master thopterist that way it allows another wincon and draw
    In the more expensive end there is a paradox engine ( i have maxed out at 80 mana) and used it to fire fire balls at my opponents
    There is one wizard i cant rember his name. Bit on the pricy side but he has (tap)draw 3 cards.
    But i love the deck here its definitely one I want to play with

      The Commander's Quarters definitely true. I bought this deck in mtgo for about $8 to try it out. I might get this deck and then elaborate on it, but oh many, it wad painful to click through the triggers on mtgo. I was in turn 5 going off and had 4 triggers. Jhoira, the scry historic bird, the artificer that let you loot when you play an artifact I think, and the artifact that puts a counter in to make a 3/3.
      I can just imagine taking 5-10 minutes to actually build up enough life to use/fine reservoir.
      TLDR painful to play on mtgo because of trigger, but it was nice that it actually keeps track of them and how much mana discount we get.

      I can confirm this. I recently bought a Najeela deck and first came up with a $30 list, then added cards I own, almost entirely for the mana base. I ended up spending $28 including Najeela and if I swapped out for a lesser mana base it would still only have been $35 including her. She's really quite effective and would go perfect with the decks in this series so far.

    This is awesome, and I wanted to build it for my kid actually, but even without some of the cards I already have (like Sol Ring) the deck is at least 70 dollars on TCGPlayer now. :-( It's still budget as far as MTG goes, but it's not kiddo budget.

    not even close, well i guess those kind of videos spike the price a bit (went to tcg player for the cards (had basically none other than 4 or so artifacts, one being sol ring) and it told me something about ~90 dollars
    a lot of shipping, one shop wanted 20 bucks shipping, another one 6bucks for a 10 buck library of leng (channel fireball), while i can get that card on cardmarket for like 2-5 cents o.o

    • @TheCommandersQuarters
      @TheCommandersQuarters  Před 6 lety +1

      Just ran this deck through TCGPlayer optimization to double check and the lowest price I could get it to was $34.51 (including shipping), so it looks like some of the cards went up in price a little bit.
