    Is this to ensure the reservoir doesn't empty? (sorry if this is obvious, new to semi hydro here)

      Yes. The float valve will keep water level to around 2CM to allow roots to get nutrients yet allow the upper half of the root to be exposed to air for air in take.

      No. Only flat silicon tape of at least 2mm thick can be effective to seal the in pipe openings to stop liquid flow when the float valve is raised to the high level mark.

      It's more than likely PLA

      @@kurti4432 There are so many variations on PLA and PLA+ even that wouldn't tell me much. 😂 I was thinking PETG might be a better option but I'm not sure the step up is necessary

      @@jmr oh yeah man you are right about the many types of PLA lol. I figured it was the standard PLA because it's the most used. I love PetG specially for outdoor use.

      @@kurti4432 I haven't done PetG yet but I've got some projects in mind that will be used outdoors and in a vehicle that could use the extra durability and heat resistance.

    We could make alot of cash in the MJ business. Check out the bucket company. Uses same type of float, seals different , also plant benders, small curved prices they put on stems to train them. I'd love to have a printer. Kid graduation was last year, they wouldn't let him make me ANYTHING 🤣🌱🙌

      Honestly 3D printers are not to expensive . I have a Ender 3 pro which was around 200 plus at the time . Have a few upgrade and prints pretty well for the price. Of course there is some learning curves but over all it's not hard.

      There's a coupon at micro center, allowing you to get an ender 3 for only 99$. You have to go to micro center however.

      The cotton with the plant in the tank is just for illustration. The plant will be put on the top of the tank (1 inch above water level). The water level is set at 2cm deep controlled by the float valve. So only the bottom 1/3 of the roots wilI dip into the nutrient solution, 2/3 will be above the nutrient to allow the root to breath in the air. I will create a second video to show how this is installed.
