the fact that just the cold opens from Season 1 is over an hour long makes me scared as to how much time i’ve actually spent watching this show
no fr i’ve seen the whole show 10+ times what does this say ab my habits
@@mia-ci2ur I'm at 7 I think
2 days 7hrs.
😢🎉
what is a Cold Open?
Britta was so much smarter in season 1. They really Britta'd her character arc.
As Jeff says to her later on “You seemed smarter than me when I met you.” 😂
Yeah she's one of the only disappointing parts of the show because it felt like the show never knew what to do with her, kinda reflected in the jokes about Britta always changing her major.
@@shamcoinc.853 That's a good point -- but I also think that makes her character the most poignant. She's a feminist, she's an environmentalist, wants to be a psychologist - she wants to do something IMPORTANT. And even though that's available for women and confusing for everyone -- it points out that a lot of us have a big question mark where are goals should be. She's only defined by what she is fighting against and doesn't really know what she wants. Seems like a lot of people should be able to identify with that in their college years.
Honestly I kinda felt Season 1 cast was all smarter/more well rounded. Season 2 and 3 is peak Community, but I do find the cast is actually dumbed down a bit a lot more like characteristics. Troy is dumb, but actually still has some wit. Abed is obsessed with TV, but he's not full on meta humor yet. Britta is a whole lot smarter and more grounded in real issues. Greendale isn't as whacky. So and so forth. There is a lot more nuance in season 1 that gradually gets sanded out to be more meta in the later seasons for better and worse.
I also feel season 1 just had more grounded writing while the show was figuring itself out, a lot more dry wit and the conversations felt more down to earth. I chalk it up to the success of the first paintball episode where they start doing more deliberate parodies for the tone changes to follow in later seasons.
Really, I found her insufferable in season 1. I actually liked her better in later seasons. She seemed more relatable.
It's so weird looking at season 1 stuff after spending so much time with later seasons. It's interesting seeing the characters slowly take their shape over time.
How slowly but surely the insanity is ramped up haha
Yeah, it's so subdued
The only shape you're interested in is annie's shape.
@@adriangeh6414 Annie's pretty young, we try not to sexualize her
clean shaven jeff is so different looking
"thought you had a Bachelor's from Columbia", "and now I need to get one from America"
Is an amazing line and when I fell in love with this show.
Colombia, maybe U de Bogotá?
It’s so underrated
I love that one and Troy’s “you seem smart, you got a sports jacket”
I was already leaning in on the dean's misplaced notecards, but I agree that line solidified it.
isnt columbia a region in usakistan?(what you incorrectly call "america")
I love how Jeff says "I remember when we used to study spanish" dear sweet jeff if only you knew what's to come
I kinda hate Jeff’s ending… they did my man dirty.
@@Mentelgen-1337How? do you mean him not being a lawyer anymore?
@@SkuYguY_ well Spoiler much. But yes.
@@Mentelgen-1337 That's okay, the show is already 9 years old. People shouldn't wait that long and still care about spoilers.
Community helped me during a dark moment. That “inspiring” speech that the dean gave showed me that actually my life doesn’t suck that much and helped me to laugh during that hard time. I can relate to Annie, with the difference that instead of pills, what messed up my college studies was: working since I was 18 in full time exploiting jobs and study careers that I didn’t like.
Thank you Community.
I started watching community in fall of 2020, when I was in the middle of lockdown and my grandma was diagnosed with cancer. She passed about a month later and my house was overrun with aunts and uncles. I watched it over and over at least six times all the way through. It was the only thing that felt remotely stable to me at the time. Thank you Community.
it really was an amazing discovery for me
@@DroseraNara I’m sorry for your loss. I’m glad that Community helped you too.
so ur complaining about have to work at a job u went and got ?
I never realized how much it feels like Danny is straining to do the Abed-isms in the first episode. Like it's not something you even notice until you compare it to how naturally he pulls off the (for lack of a better word) unnatural speaking pattern as the show goes on. As someone with autism, it's really cool to see an allistic actor master the flat speech thing in a way that, despite seeming robotic at face value, actually is still very human.
Which cold open is the one with the cheerleaders? OP knows that's why everyone clicked.
@@econojonep 13
@@econojonroflmao that you chose to post this question here.

i can relate
Within the first two minutes, Jim Rash had me laughing hysterically over the Dean's flubbing of the welcome speech. He's also an Oscar Winner, having won the Best Adapted Screenplay for "The Descendents."
Would that this welcome speech were a time welcome speech
@@zackxeno1019I’m actually laughing out loud, thank you so much for this😂
'that's what you've heard, however... I WISH YOU LUCK' will forever be my one of my favourite quotes from anything, and it's in the first minute of the show. if that ain't a good first impression idk what is
i think you mean... the deanscendents?
Someone needs to walk me through how that was funny rather of humiliating, awkward, and wildly unbelievable.
No joke, no setup, no contrast or even a twist of any kind, just.... some random nobody failing at something a child could manage. I literally do not understand what exactly people would be laughing at in this scene.
The fact that Chang says “Mr miyagi here will wax off” and then he actually plays Mr miyagi in that play in ssn 6
I loved Season 1 Chang. I don’t know why they chang-ed him.
I know, it makes me so changry
@@stavrosleoI for one thought it was kevinly
@Giorgos Ik
what season did the hangover come out?
@@stellviahohenheim Which one?
They knew what they were doing when they chose the thumbnail 😩
Also let me help you guys out, 34:55
😂
I'd be lying if I said I didn't click because of the thumbnail. I didn't even look at the title of the video until it loaded
That's a classic scene!
doin the good work
A true hero.
The fact that the cheerleader scene is the most replayed one lmaoooo
This CZcams channel is streets ahead
Also I was immediately hooked exactly after Dean's first speech during the cold open
If you have to ask then you're streets behind
13:08I absolutely love the 1-2 punch of "Cheers" "M*A*S*H" "Faulty Towers, Game over", just noticed it on my 5th rewatch lmaoo
Seriously jack black just appearing from nowhere is the best cold open
I see Community, I give it a like. Never a dull moment and my guilty pleasure 😬🤣
If Community is your *guilty* pleasure, you're streets behind
@@stavrosleo Totally.
@@stavrosleo kewl 😎 thanks for your opinion 💯
What do you recommend? Just asking
@@Jo-zi5px guilty pleasures are usually stuff that we shouldn't have/with lower standards. Community is the exact opposite.
Jeff is basically mike ross in an alternate universe that got caught.
watching community first and then suits... yes this is true lol
34:56 cheerleader scene - the chalk board has the following words top to bottom (in Spanish),
which were perfect for the scene: fight, sin, chest, breast, danger.
22:08 dumbest thing Troy ever did was not realize he was the luckiest dude for almost half of this season
Yes but also I’m glad they never got together. One thing I really like about Community is, more then almost any show (even ironically the one called Friends), Community is really about friendship. There’s a bit of will they won’t they but it’s super minimal, which I personally like.
@@dh3913 I would argue that was a course correct. This season ended with two women professing their love for Jeff and him kissing a third.
No, the dumbest thing he ever did was thinking that getting somebody else's karate trophy would automatically make him a karate master.
@@TheFiddleFaddle True, s1 definitely was the closest to other sitcoms and had the most relationship material. Still (besides the s1 finale) it never felt like the core focus of the show; with most similar shows the main focus is often the will they won’t they, while in Community the main focus always felt like it was watching this group of unlikely people come together.
Also imo the true true core of the show is the friendship between Jeff and Abed in particular lol. From s1-6 I love watching those two.
He was the luckiest dude because he managed to get both Annie AND Britta to fall for him at different points during the show.
the Dean walking into the file cabinet drawer has me bent over laughing every time
These cold opens are streets ahead 😊
And if you can't get it you are streets behind
fine, i'll rewatch this masterpiece show right now 😤
Watching season 1 cold opens reminds me how genius this sho truly is… As if I wasn’t already convinced !!!
Pierce's retort to Jeff's "it's a small world" is one of my favorite lines
30:50
Still one of my favorite moments of the series.
20:36 "I saw your father's ghost again" but then we meet Pierce's dad later
When one of the characters say “I thought your dad was dead” he says something like “mom liked to pretend so” unless I’m wrong?
@@ko379 oh wow, cool
Always loved how Annie is so proud of her AIDS fortune cookie lol. Catch Knowledge!
This show had me at “I wish you luck!”
You can see how quickly the cast few into their characters. You can see it especially with Try and Britta, by episode 15, they're not the same characters from the pilot
Well in the pilot they’re trying to be something they’re not. Then they get comfortable with being themselves.
Grew?
51:48 that's uhhh..that's good pottery technique. I definitely approve
need that 10 hour loop to uhh... practice my pottery skills
Even the sound is spot on
Abed’s dialogues sometimes go unnoticed since he talks fast but some of his lines are gold.
"i don't even care who wins"
underrated quote, could be useful in real life
This show is hilarious and I'll never get sick of it!
I love the thumbnail as much as I love more the cold openings 😂😂
Pierce ain't wrong. Streets ahead has definitely been minted
this show predicted all our lives
Whoever selected this thumbnail knew what they were doing. I'm not complaining though.
This show slaps. It's pretty much infinitely rewatchable.
Cheerleader Annie is quite the sight. I'm glad the Cheerleading squad got its comeuppance in the S02 finale for robbing us off at least 4 seasons of Cheerleader Annie 😤😤
In before obligatory "we try not to sexualize her" comment. I see you Community fans. Be original, like this show.
But she can't do a basket toss to save her life!
Christmas glee club Annie is quite the sight too.
get a life frfr
@@tylerlormand5644 no
Chang's intro should get its own show 😅
1:00:41 That's the exact momment when Abed ascended from cool to cool cool cool.
AIN'T NOTHING BETTER THAN THIS !!!
Community is a vibe.
34:55 That's a well-picked thumbnail if there ever was one.
Gillian is the most perfect woman ever.
Fans of this show are often weird and disturbing in their horniness for a fictional teenager but you switched it up by doing that for an actual woman in her 30s. Well, I still don’t hope you live near me. You don’t though, but it’s how I feel.
@@maseratidyce3587 I agree. This comment is garbage. It is shameful, creepy, and should never be read by anyone.
@@looking_glass8736 community fans are creepy. I’m just pointing it out. Some of you people lust after a fictional 19 year old. I’m just pointing it out. A truly regarded fan base. Good show though.
Strongly Agree ❤
I have seen the episodes so many times that i keep expecting "gimme some rope" playing 😂
here I was thinking I'd never rewatch this show, but this made me really want to afterall
I was waiting for this since ever!
The Jack Black cold open ends in the absolute best way possible
Love this show...some of the best comedy writing I've ever experienced...
I love that he timed the Cheerleader Scene to be the exact middle of the video XD.
I love this it’s so good
I always love the moment in 26:15
I didn’t catch Abed rocking the Huey Freeman silhouette T-shirt in the Art of Discourse on my first 5 watch-throughs. 😁
At this point they be uploading anything but season 4 😭😭😭 and I understand them
The Best of Season 4 playlist only having 6 videos is so so funny.
Actually, I wouldn't mind if season 5 got more attention.
or the Dungeons and Dragons episode
I just remembred why I love this show
Binging Community videos on CZcams is streets ahead.
10:56 The kiss on Annie's forehead was such psycho thing to do of Chang.
The guy who chose the thumbnail knew what he was doing
beautiful, thank you
Watching this while chillaxing
Today I learned that the show “Community” is about Community College.
I often rewatch great movies occasionally, but I usually don't revisit TV shows because they tend to be too lengthy. However, "Community" is the exception; it's the only TV show I've watched more than once. It's my all-time favorite comedy, closely followed by "Parks & Recreation" and "The Office."
goddamn this show is brilliant.
Just the intro music made me feel good and at ease
I gues that whoever made the thumbnail didn't get the memo about Annie, her young age and not sexualizing her
thank you.
Wow. I did not know that Community was about a Community college. Now I am gonna watch it. (plus that tardiness to avoid conversations about live at the beginning of meetings... that was me in Grad school - Don´t tell my advisor hahaha)
Its so weird to hear the dean so calm at the first cold open lmao gotta love him
Please do this for every season ❤
Why did the official Community Channel use the shortened opening from the pilot? Part of the Jeff and Ducan conversation is missing.
Good entrance, thank you - Abed
never noticed that the Dean was wearing a wedding ring in the pilot episode
Gillian Jacobs is so breathtakingly beautiful.
Due to this show I always wanted to go to community College lol
"In order to increase awareness of the homeless, security is giving binocules"
this cast is incredible.
"Cheers", "M*A*S*H*", "Fawlty Towers, game over. Have a nice day". Genius!
this is deantastic!!
56:01 is the moment
Best show EVER...
I want a Shirley in my life! The unwavering support.
"Let jeff cry on my shoulder while you boys put a dead bird in that bitches glove compartment" ruthless and loving :')
I watched this show front and back more than 20 times but is the first time that i actually saw when buddy enter the group hug
Ow they used the syndication cold open for Pilot not the original one as it aired in 2009, or on the DVD/BR.
@@soothe_belle An additional gag at the beginning of the Dean fumbling on the speaker and the "High as Hell" Leonard video ending song (yes that song) pops out.
The replay spike for Investigative Journalism.
2024 will mark 15 years since the first episode of "Community" aired!
One of the few videos where you can hear the thumbnail.
The fortune cookie saying “you will get AIDS” omg 🤣
the pottery episode is my favourite just because of the teacher.
Los Angeles City College, an actual community college is the location for many of these scenes (esp. in the pilot)
Hello! Are you gonna make a new video of the changes you would do to the build if you were to run it again?
is crazy those locations
47:11 Annie tryna be slick lmao
"Annie's pretty young, we try not to sexualize her."
"Britta's the worst."
The thumbnail:
I want my full pilot cold open!!!
u gonna wait then u aint nobody
I can see every episode's progession just from the cold opens.
16:18 just realized the setup for this episode is troy being recruited and his response was "i finished on top" after we just learned he got injured in high school and attends a community college.
Well that thumbnail worked on me!
34:55 the Best part 😂
these technically arent cold opens bc they lead into the main plot of the episodes
