    Am away from the car and was trying to get a look at something and Google images brought me here. Great video! Another, small point that might be of note to some; it's apparently really popular to do AC deletes in a lot of mk1's. It's anecdotal, but I've seen it frequently, and on the last 2 cars I've come into contact with it was done incorrectly once, and poorly the second time. If there's an issue with a slightly wandering idle or if the pedal still feels a little squishy after doing a brake bleed- *if* the car has had ac deleted, people should consider checking to make sure there are no vacuum leaks as a result of it. The ac gets vacuum from the same line as the brake booster.

    Is this normal? Do they have to be sealed or it’s still okay when they aren’t?

    Amazing and informative video. I have a caddy pickup and it has a very rough idle, when it is lowered the car runs fine until you stop on an uphill at which point it cuts off, and for the brakes to work you need to completely floor the pedal. Could these problems be caused by a fault break booster?

    • @pjs-golfmk1-diy
      @pjs-golfmk1-diy  Před rokem +1

      Hi there,
      Yes,it could also be the servo pipe that has a slight crack in it.. Rough idle is an indication of air being sucked in, aka Vacuum leak.
      Best to have the brake booster and pipe thoroughly checked ..in most cases it's not the brake booster ,but the servo pipe or the carburetor base plate ..

    • @pjs-golfmk1-diy
      @pjs-golfmk1-diy  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes with a failing booster, brakes are still there, but not as effective.. Basically car will take few seconds longer to come to a complete halt., because you don't have th aid of the booster... And yes carb performance will also be affected, because the over supply of air from Servo Pipe will cause the fuel mixture to be thrown out... Try and determine exactly if it is in fact the booster that is faulty.

    • @pjs-golfmk1-diy
      @pjs-golfmk1-diy  Před 2 lety +1

      If one pipe is already connected to back of the booster, then the other pipe could go to the carb somewhere, or you could just block it off, because leaving it open could cause a rough or uneven idle.... To check it, just put your finger over the hole while engine idles, and see if idle improves, if it does, block it up with a small screw..
