What is the biggest that you've ever done and where was it? Let us know 🙌
Trondheim-Oslo in Norway. 540km
Camino de Mulas @ Costa Rica. It’s the most epic 630km MTB ride with 14000m of elevation from border to border in our small beautiful country. Please come one day, it’s done early Feb every year!
Amazing ride, video and accomplishment. Seems impossible. - Does anyone know what FRONT LIGHT and MOUNT was used here? I'm looking for a mount where i can attach my #wahoo and a front light underneath?
Stunning achievement. Interested to hear about your training etc. My rather piffling longest ride was the Marmotte in the french Alps, 180km and 5000m, finishing with the Alpe d'Huez. Wasn't quick, but then I was 54 and had a relatively short training régime.
My longest ride is 52 miles and I have a 1973 univega viva sport which out of the 10 gears only 6 of them work and non of which are for climbing. I hope to go back and attempt it again when I get a better bike.
Thanks for all the kind comments! Glad so many of you enjoyed the video. A lot of work went into training for this and the team who filmed and edited it did a phenomenal job!
Looked like you were about to collapse under the weight of that medal at the end 😅
Unreal effort!
Chapeau! To you and the team! Such an inspiration, you're an absolute weapon! 🚀
@@peterstothard6904 cheers pete! 👊
My Man Ollie...this is a incredible feat. I was hurting even watching this vid...! Can't IMAGINE what it must have been like for you on that bike, that last part with your neck etc OUCH. Mad respect! Really, Mad respect.
As many have stated, this was truly inspirational. I think there will be a lot of people using this as motivation to help them through their next efforts, even if they're a fraction as difficult as this one.
How did you manage descents in the pitch black? Did the van lead they way or did you have to ride the brakes the whole time.
I thought your first Tour Des Stations was incredible, but this is incomprehensible. Congrats!!
You know Oliver is a true brit when he manages to findthe energy to insult the french even during this! Brilliant film and awesome effort!
This is my favourite style of GCN video. No pissing about with gimmicks, just pure cycling heart. Congrats Ollie Bridgewood. 👍👍👍
I love how Ollie's accent got broader and broader the more tired he got. Amazing effort!
Dr. Bridgewood is such a beast!
He's a mile munching machine! 🙌 What should his next challenge be?
@@gcn Beer Drinking challenge 🤣
or Fastest way to sober up before a group ride challenge!
Only thing I can think of, is he’s seriously attempts Zwift Academy for a pro contract! Reckon he has it in him..
“Over the last 28 hours I’ve had 45 minutes sleep!” and then smiles at the camera. 😂 Chapeau Ollie. Tremendous effort!
If you don't laugh you'll cry - awesome effort from Ollie 💪
"Fench cobbles... Put them anywhere" lmao. Great video and I love how you communicate the utter suffering and sense of accomplishment of completing an ultra. Keep going!
I had a tear in my eye when Ollie reached the summit. I have been a huge fan for a long time and watched him grow into such an epic rider over the years. Is he our new Mark Beaumont?? And kudos to the crew. Without them, this journey could not be shared with all of us. Well done all. Love GCN!!🤩😍
Thanks for sharing! We all had a little cry when Ollie crossed the line, he put in such a great ride 🙌 We hope this inspires you to push your limits ( big or small). If you fancy a full deep dive and the inevitable full ugly cry keep an eye out for the GCN+ film 👀
@@gcn I went straight to my GCN+ account but didn't see the film. I am so stoked to see the full feature in the future. Nice!!
Is there a way to watch the documentary with GCN + closing?
I followed Ollie on the semi-live map and tracking provided by the organizers and I was stoked when I learned that he finished 6th. This is massive, and the physical and mental endurance required for this is mind-blowing. Total respect and inspiration.
6th , Amazing performance Olli .
Ive done a 1,000 km ride ........ 9 days took me
thanks! he never gave a final update how actually places... he mentioned briefly that he was 6th, but there were a couple of riders right behind, and was worried about being overtaken, so that left us in a kind of limbo.
Thank you for spoiling it in the first comment ..
@@clickbait4820 saved me 25 minutes :)
@@clickbait4820Exactly, people just can’t stop vandalizing these videos with their inane comments :/ He put a lot into the video and ride, and yes there are some people who will come across the spoiler and move on
"When I did this before, I lost ten places, and I'm worried that it will happen again... " You are a different rider now Ollie! Absolutely epic!!
I don't always comment, but when I do, it's because Ollie is magnificent. Well done, Dr Bridgewood. Well done indeed.
Thanks!
They say that endurance events are all about spirit and mindset. Hundreds of kilometres into the ride, aching and in pain, Ollie was somehow still cheery, cracking jokes. What a ride, what a man, so inspiring!
So inspirational! The next time my legs/knees/butt hurts I’ll remember Ollie carrying on while being unable to lift his head up. A ferocious effort worthy of much praise!
Bravo Ollie. You continue to push yourself and it’s mightily impressive to witness. Chapeau sir.
We are all very proud of you, Ollie! You only got dropped by 5 people.. the last time it happened you were cycling with Si, Connor, Hank, Alex and Manon.. 😂
Kudos to the amazing GCN crew behind cameras. 🚲🚲💛💛💚💚
Thanks very much - not going to be many getting dropped jokes for a couple of days!
You are a beast, Ollie! But the audience is an insatiable beast. All we want now, is for you to go out there and suffer more… for longer… You said it yourself… Gateway drug. For you and for us!
Well done mate ❤
Having just completed a 320km event I have watched this in absolute awe. Chapeau Ollie and everyone that finished this brutal challenge. This is super human stuff. Great video too.
Welldone on the 320km! That is one big effort 🙌 We hope Ollie's ride has inspired you? 500km next? 👀
What makes it even more amazing on top of the massive km is the huge amount of climbing. A massive effort only handful of people can do. 👏👍
A true inspiration to all cyclists! Anyone who can finish that ride is in a class of heir own! Well done and a trillion kudos to Ollie! Always a joy to see your passion on the bike!
A trillion Kudos! Now that would brake Strava records for sure 🙌 Ollie smashed it, once again!
Chapeau, Dr Bridgewood. Utter beast. Can we all just reflect on the fact Ollie used to be "the guy that gets dropped", and has quietly and consistently chipped away at becoming (arguably) the best of the GCN lot
Haha all the GCN videos with people saying "I'm so wrecked, that's the hardest thing, I just can't anymore" but then the interview after they can still put words together.
This man is actually, really, wrecked here. Chapeau!
Ollie is an absolute hero. What makes him even more so is that he is the presenter of the people. Much love to Ollie, and a hardy GREAT JOB to the crew - that is its own unique challenge, and they've done an outstanding job.
GCN's new ultra distance specialist, Hank better watch his back! Ollie smashed it, where should we send him next (after some well deserved rest!) 😴
@@gcnRAAM
24:04 I did give the video a thumbs up. But I did it for you, Ollie. Well done, buddy!
(The crew got the thumbs up on the gcn Tech bike check vid)
This 24-mins video does not do the justice of this 1,000 KM race for sure. Hats off to you Ollie not only because you finished the race, but with beautiful results! Incredible!
Whole idea of this race is just screaming "I'll torture you to death!". I coudn't imagine finishing it and you proved me wrong. Congratulations and huge respect rider and his team.
The video we’ve all been waiting for :-)
It would’ve been awesome to know how Ollie recovered after this insane ride. Massive kudos to Ollie, this one blew up my little brain. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Chapeau ollie what a magnificent ride! Watching you talk afterwards with a non functioning neck and a medal on it is funny and glorious at the same time. Hell of job man!
Truly hats off Olli. There is something really un-motivational about riding at night and you only come alive when the sun comes up.
GCN has some very talented athletes
Nothing but respect, appreciation and love from Germany 🇩🇪 for you Ollie - always keep your head up mate and congratulations for your outstanding performance and that great video-stay positive/Jürgen from Germany 🇩🇪 👏👏👏👏👏👏🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂
Congratulations ollie .
Your the king of GCN no one can take that away from you .
All the taking the piss out you you deserve respect from the rest of GCN
17:45 please make this a meme or a short! So funny😂 well done Ollie
Not taking away from the difficulty of this challenge, but in the large scope of things, Ollie made this look relatively easy and his overall positivity was inspiring. Bravo sir!
You can always rely on Ollie to keep his cool and bring the positive vibes 🙌
This is just bonkers. Bonkers.
Congratulation Ollie and crew!
What a beast...
These docs are more gripping / impressive than a Top Gear Special... you guys need a deal on national TV. Unreal
thanks pal!
As the ride progresses you can see the presenter Ollie fading away and his true self emerging. Amazing effort.
Been looking forward to this all week! Thought there’d be a GCN+ doc for such an insane challenge. Well done Ollie, unbelievable! “I wanted to see what I was made of” I think you certainly accomplished that :)
it’s in the pipe line!
@@oliverbridgewood3929
Personal Congratulations Olli !!
Ive done a couple of Etape du Tours, and both nearly killed me
Thinking about another in 24 ...... Training starts now , I feel inspired by u .
@@oliverbridgewood3929 I can't wait to see it!
Keep your eyes peeled for the GCN+ doc! 👀
Incredible achievement. Congratulations Dr. Ollie! Three consecutive Everests😳🤯 Calm and focus beyond measure. And the production is just fantastic🙌 B-roll might be the correct terminology but doesn’t really do it justice (more like A+++ roll). And last but not least kudos to the support team❤️
Massive team effort - glad you enjoyed it!
Shermer's Neck is no joke. Luckily Ollie's ride didn't go on much longer from when he developed symptoms. Josh Ibbett, who featured on GCN a few times, won the transcontinental race 2015. His main competitor James Mark Hayden had to abandon that year, but later went on to win multiple times.
Way to go Ollie! Way to hang in there and finish strong. Great video.
Absolutely MASSIVE achievement! The physical and mental strength needed for this is just insane. Bet you cursed yourself an infinite number of times for taking on this beast of a ride :D Also surprised to see how light you packed! It seems you don't struggle with the cold during the nights and during the rain. I did the superfondo and can't even begin to imagine how much harder this is. KUDOS!!!
Hahaha there we're certainly points when Ollie regretted his decision 😆 That's part of the "fun" though, pushing though and overcoming the mental battles are all part of it! How did you get on the superfondo? That is no easy ride! 🙌
There is ONE fondo to rule them all!
What an EPIC ride! Congratulations Ollie, truly a remarkable feat and memories to last a lifetime - well done.
I thought I hallucinated when I saw a GCN colors on a bike on a road in early August around here, but that was actually you. Kudos - this is pretty freaking impressive!
haha! that’s mad!
Man I am in awe. And at the end Ollie says thumbs up for the crew. Yes for the crew, but most of all you, OB.Awesome
Well done Ollie, put me off doing it though! What an amazing showcase for where I am lucky to live. Couldnt agree more about the Gotthard, I love it, right up there with Champex Lac!
Thank you Ollie ❤. Despite being in a miserable state during the race, he still managed to keep us all entertained by great content.
Inspiring ✨
Congratulations Ollie and Filming Crew! 1000k is equivalent to 621.371 miles. I just converted that. Wow! 😮 Awesome job!
Ollie!!!!! Just amazing!!!! Your suffering is just the best!!!!! Congrats!!!!!
Oh yezzzzzz fans, let them cycling adventures entertain you, pushing pedals makes life worth living, you are doing a great job indeed, never stop believe in
Congratulations Ollie! I would have to describe your outing as bordering on insane. Truly an ultra epic ride. We are all very proud of you. I look forward to seeing the film on GCN+. Thank you.
You are nothing short of an absolute animal!!! Be proud!!!
Just past the 8:30 mark, Ollie starts telling his support vehicle about his struggles and pains and the guy just says "yeah" "ok" "yeah" "ok". I feel like Ollie could have said "My left leg fell off a few hundred meters back and I'm bleeding out" and the guy would have just said "yeah ok".
Ollie, you're a beast man. The mental and physical strength that it took to complete that ride is something to be admired. Take a raise out of petty cash and have a good sleep, you've earned it.
Epic performance Ollie! Well done. That was a great video overall. Thanks GCN. Inspiring stuff👏👍
Thank you Dr O..and the AMAZING crew , wow ! I have ridden all around that region , " the land of a thousand wows"...I hope you got to enjoy it after the ride , Damn ! Rest , have some Rosti and beer .
The full distance Marmotte’s etc are enough for me. Chapeau 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Mad respect for Ollie! Dr. Bridgewood always breaks his limits insanely!
Wow…what a race…Ollie is a hero♥️ congrats👏
I know ive made fun of ollie from time to time but there was always an respect for what he does that respect is ten fold after this epic achievement
Thank you GCN Film Crew!!!!
Go Ollie!!!!!
Must be one of, if not the biggest challenges for a GCN presenter. Outstanding effort, and well deserved chequered flag.
Most people don’t even thing about that’s sort of ride, but you completed it. Inspiring and beautiful.
Truly epic effort from Ollie! What challenge will you be taking on next? 👀
Ok Ollie, you are officially a PIMP! The best GNC rider there is. Well done!
What I admire is, that you make such a huge adventure but create such a short and compact story about it. Others would spoil YT with hours of content if achieving such a competition. That is what I call quality content.
Well done Ollie - savage effort, congrats
Absolutely incredible achievement Mr Bridgewood. Huge congrats m. Very inspiring
Well Done Ollie, Epic is an understatement. I came to Verbier from Australia this year to give the Ultrafondo a crack. I made it to 225km before the clock and my legs beat me. It was tough. The 1000km is just brutal. Congrats to you and all the other 1000 and 500km riders.
It's a tough one for sure - We hope the legs are recovering well?
To ask for the thumbs up for the crew and not for himself shows exactly what a fantastic person Ollie is. Amazing ride Ollie!! My respect for you as a rider and as a person grows with every video you make. Kudos mate!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
Jebus! Wow amazing bud. Very well done Ollie! Kudos mate 👏👏👏👏👏
Unbelievable effort Ollie! Well done. This week the Tour Des Stations, next week, around the world in 78 days?? Epic ride and great video. 👏💪
Now there's an idea 🤔
What an absolutely monumental achievement, Dr Ollie Bridgewood! Would love to know what lights you used, both front and rear pls.
Wow MAD RESPECT OLLIE!
16:34 Hilarious 😄
Amazing effort, truly. A lot of people can't even get 1000km in a month much less over the course of a few days. Be super proud!
Congratulations Ollie and thank you for inspiring me to do the Ultrafondo this year. I admire your persistence and dedication, whilst always finding the right words even when sitting on your bike after a couple of hundred KMs.❤
Awesome!
Literally from another world this testament of suffering and perseverance comes to my living room screen and makes me consider how little I understand of what it takes to complete a feat like this. Still, I enjoy riding my bike around my neck of the woods every now and then😀
Could you ever see yourself taking on big challenge? 👀
Super nice documentary! Big kuddos for pedalling through 👏🏼
Brutal!! Bravo Ollie! What makes me cycling is the landscapes! Beautiful!
All the things Ollie was complaining about are the same things my people in their 70's complains about because of old age. Leg's hurt, arms hurt, back hurts, neck hurts, wrists hurt, ankles hurt, everything hurts, feeling tired all the time. I think we can diagnose Ollie with old age.
With such remarkable achievement I am considering to forget the "drop accident" from the saga of chasing Sinon TT bike.
But honestly, this is a massive achievement. Kudos Dr Bridgewood.
That’s absolutely astonishing that someone is able to do this. That’s awesome what the human body is capable of.
Worst feeling in life is waking up from that short sleep and getting yourself to get pedalling again... Man.. respect bro
Reminder: Ollie dropped Contador.
legend
You are an absolute legend make all the others look like also-rans. I don’t think you can top this but please keep doing similar videos 👏🏻🙏🏻
Epic, gruelling ride Ollie, well done. I hope your neck muscles have recovered. 🚴♀️🌟
Ollie, I would be keen to know how you trained for this ride. 🚴
Yes what Olli did leading up to this event would make an excellent
training vid .
Fricking nuts.... in awe of the effort and mental strength displayed here!!! 💪🏻
Ollie, you are an inspiration. I've been cringing about completing my first century. You have inspired me to do one soon. Thanks for sharing this video.
Kudos!
Wow Ollie, that’s impressive. Well done
Ollie! Amazing how much you changed in the last three years or so! AMATEUR to PRO! Congrats! Amazing Job!
That... was... bonkers... But huuuuuge respect. That is not a race anymore, that is really challenging yourself. Most people would not even survive that. Epic is overused word but now it is in place. Epic !!
Absolutely stunning cinematography. Even the pitch black night shots were beautiful.
Thank you, Thank you for taking us with you 😍🚴♂️🙏👌👏💪👍🚀
Epic. I'm soon doing an event in Switzerland which involves 3 passes and a pathetic-sounding 105km. Ollie's tenaciousness is nothing short of inspiring!
Awesome! Monumental ride! This brutal challenge is really super human. Well done, Ollie! I hope to ride a little bit of if soon (just the Tremola + Goldfinger sections) ^___^
Many thanks to the Crew for the incredible video too!
16:44 you should see Italian cobbles..."Put them!"...that's it
He is the ultimate underdog. Congrats Dr. Bridgewood!
Love this sort of thing, congratulations Ollie, mega ride and what a place to do it in. Getting woken up in an RV after 45 mins sleep, oh man!
Holy crap, you're an absolute hero for doing this! What an amazing effort!!
