- This is my first time racing on my 1985 KDX 200 and my second time ever riding it. This bike is a blast to ride but needs some suspension work. I had several oh shit moments trying to slow down as the front brakes are almost useless and the soft suspension sent me over the bars a couple times and made for a wild ride. There was only 4 people in the Evo class however we also line up with the Senior Pre-Modern class which made it a great time battling with these guys.
Sounds crisp! Looks like a blast.
You did a super good job brother I got three KDX 1984 kdx 250 a 1985 kdx 200 in green plastic and 1984 kdx 80 rare in red plastic these bikes are super fast and amazing trail bikes I love my bikes my 1984kdx 250 was raced a couple of times at black water years and years ago the kdx 200 got lots of torq and with a 6speed tranny it gets the high end also good job dude keep it up the bike is holding the trails well you get a kdx it’s hard to like any other bike after I see guys saying your bogging no that’s how them bikes run it’s the low end brap braaap braaap
I have soooo much fun racing this bike. I still have to get it starting and running better. The starting issue is the biggest pain in the ass at the moment. I have another cdi on its way, and I'm hoping it will help. Once it's running right, I'm gonna get the suspension set up since it's crazy soft currently.
If your gonna keep racing be safe and take care of that old gem that head light if it was me it unplugs I would take it off there to expensive on eBay to replace bro then the rear fender bag are crazy rare
Well done. I had an 86 and have a 99 220. You beat the hell out of that puppy!
Thanks. This bike is a lot of fun when I can keep it running. I completely blew out the shock at the last race and the motor is still not running perfectly but it's an absolute blast when it's running.
Dude, that thing is lean bogging like mad!
Thanks. I will be looking into the jetting and try to get it running better and hopefully that also helps with the starting issues.
Good job recovering after that fall and continue pushing.
Thanks...I had a lot of fun racing this bike and hope to do better once I get some seat time on it. I will also be getting some stiffer springs for the forks.
lot of bogging carb dirty? 85 didn't get power valves 86 and up got kips or low on compression?
That was when I had the Mikuni. I switched to a Keihin, and I thought I had it figured out, but I blew it up last weekend. Completely seized the motor due to lean jetting. I'll get it dialed in eventually.
@@McGuckinMotorsports if you wanna sell it lmk I got a 86 I am fully rebuilding from ground up I just got the top end redone go with weisco best pistons out there
