    You should wear a respirator, safety is a must even though fuji has almost no overspray .
    The reason for orange peel is the mix with your material and and air flow plus your air cap. Go with the 1.0 or 0.8 and spray medium wet coats you should be fine.

    Nice video. When using this gun for automotive paint it works best with a 0.8 tip. It can produce an orange peel free finish without over thinning your paint past the manufacturer recommendation. I also made a hug mess with my gun the first time I used it. The gravity feed sends paint everywhere if you don't release the pressure before opening it

      Maybe it was lost in translation. Mixing the product to the manufacturers recommendation will need smaller tip. If you want to thin out the paint beyond recommendation to get it to lay down flat with a larger tip then do you homey.

    Great video! I have the same system I used to paint an airplane. I had to use an extra 25’ hose length to cool down the air and then move the spray gun closer to the part which will create the wet look. Then
    Make sure you overlap each spray pass by 50%.

    Not sure if there was a bad instruction given to this gentlemen but Wanda basecoat as it is shown in this video DOES NOT need an Activator (Hardener). It does need a reducer & mixes 2:1. After which you will need a clear coat to protect a basecoat. Just trying to help anyone watching this video not to make same mistake.

  • @canalboating
    @canalboating Před rokem +1

    Excellent job for your first attempt. Both the base and clear coats looked a bit dry / dusty me so the paint didn't quite flow out but it's a very fine line between this and having loads of runs / sags but as I say excellent for a beginner kudos to you for having a go and showing what you can achieve if you are willing to put the time and effort in, a finer air cap / needle and a slightly wetter coat may have helped. Many thanks for sharing and best wishes for future projects 👍

    You can do 6 coats but if the first coat is not right you can't save it, it's shine but no residution,

    • @MrBenescarment
      @MrBenescarment  Před 9 měsíci

      6 coats is not necessary, focus more on the outcome of the video and not only the process, everyone has there own technique, i just push my experience to the masses, many will always have their own opinions which is ok, I’ve sprayed heavy on a first coats which did not have so great of a outcome and still produced a professional shine, it’s not only what you know, but how to address certain outcomes when it happens, i wish i could send you a pic because that same part still has a shine till this day, knowledge is key!

      @@MrBenescarment l paint 4 cars a week so I see the mistakes you made, should have stopped after the first coat of clear, those are fish eyes from the uncleaned surface, your many coats equal one really good flowed wet coat, Yes it shines but your finish product has no resolution, mine are like a mirror finish and in 25 full paint jobs l only had to sand and buff one, my first paint job with my fugi was a 47 foot Yaht in 12 mph winds outside and it's like a mirror, l don't make videos claiming to be good enough to teach others like so many do, negative comments come with making them, it's constructive criticism, hold you gun straight and make consistent passes with 70 percent overlaps on base coat and 50 percent on clear, your too far away getting dry spray and not good even wet flow on your clear coats, first coat should be a light even tack coat and spray second coat heavy when first coat feels tacky like sticky side of tape, l never let base coat set over night you want the clear coat to melt into the base coat and not just lay on it,, think about it you will loose all the etch, but if you do let it completely dry you need to scuff the base coat with a gray scotch pad and use panel wash and tack cloth clean before the clear are the clear has nothing to grab and hold on to, most of paint jobs I use a compressor and gun at 30 psi and get really good atomization, but at home l use my fugi but I hold gun closer it's only 10 PSI and have to be close to get good atomization with 70 percent overlaps too keep the entire panels wet , I saw your Base coat and it had to much dry spray for clear should have let it flash and tack clothed same time but you waited and then you have to light sand clean and tack cloth, you couldn't see all the fish eyes you cleared over? You basically sanded most of the clear off the buffed the base coat and it's not going last,

      @@MrBenescarment if your first coat of clear is not even and clean stop and let it dry and sand it smooth and start over, you can't cut and buff just final coat the first bad coat is still there just shined over and that's why your not getting mirror finishes and Just shine, l saw your finish product it was cloudy and shined over but will fade fast, l never have to cut and buff now.

    Very disappointing

    • @MrBenescarment
      @MrBenescarment  Před rokem +2

      Not really disappointing, I used a 1.3 tip, and could’ve adjusted my technical factors that would’ve reduced the the orange peel, but I also enjoyed getting out the new content where I corrected that in my other videos.
