The other day while I was taking a shower I accidentally slip and fell backwards and hit the back of my head against the wall. I panicked and I immediately climbed to my feet. I really thought I was gonna pass out or something because I can still remember my head pulsating after that violent and sudden shook. Luckily, I never felt anything other than a mild headache but it went away after 10 minutes. It’s already been a week since that accident and I’ve been worrying too much about the long term effects of that hit. After watching some of your videos, it’s clear to me that we have to experience a substantial hit in our heads in order for a concussion to occur but never in my life had I ever experienced such a strong hit in my head and I’m also a very hypochondriac and anxious person. Also, I’ve heard that hitting the back of your head can be dangerous and life threatening. Should I worry too much about what happened? Thanks in advance for your answer!

    Thank you for this video.
I have had multiple concussions throughout my life from growing up in a terrible environment and being involved in countless fights.
The last one I've got last July really perturbs me. Ever since I got it, I have difficulties reading as well as focusing, mood swings, balance issues, memory issues, multiple headaches throughout the day.
I'm sincerely scared of no longer being able to do what I used to prior to this event, I was in the midst of getting a masters degree in computer science when this happened and due to my issues I had to drop out since I no longer could keep up with the amount of work it required and how my head hurts every time I sit down and think hard.
I've talked about how I've got this last concussion with my GP, I got it when someone hit my head (hard) with his when both of us reached down to grab the same thing at the same time, my right temple was the point of impact.
My GP made me do a CT scan which only revealed I have empty sella turcica syndrome as well as sinusitis and then told me to just rest.
I'm scared man, I find myself watching dumb reality TV shows since these are the only thing I can keep up with from the beginning to the end, it's been 3 months and I'm still a mess, it took me 35 minutes to write this brief comment.

      @beratbra2407 Před 4 lety +3

I have a similar story as you. I got the concussion 4 months ago and i thought the best thing i could do was to limit myself by resting inside in the dark.
It went like 3 months before i did a lot of research and found out that i need to expose myself little by little and increase activity to get better.
I did like you and watched sitcoms and reality shows and had real problems sitting on a computer etc.
3 weeks ago i started walking and working out with weights and exposed myself even tho it was real uncomfortable at the start. I went from having problems walking for 10 minutes straight and now i can walk like 1 hour straight and probably a lot more if i want to, but it gets boring. I just was done working out with weight 25 minutes straight with 1 minutes rest inbetween. 1 month ago i would have been lying on the floor.
Find a good clinic and for god`s sake check yourself for BPPV. It`s very common after concussion and gives you dizzines, balance problems, anxiety, fatigue etc.....
Very similar symptoms of concussion. Make sure the clinic you find uses VNS goggles so when they check your eyes for nystagmus there is nothing you can focus on that supresses the nystagmus.

My diet is plantbased/vegan, but because i have an eating disorder that makes it real hard for me to swallow food which then makes it difficult for me to get enough calories i dont eat much solid food. Because that`ts not efficient enough for calories it get it from something that is called Plennyshake.
Don`t know if you have heard of it, but look it up if you want to. I take like 3grams of omega-3 in capsules which dont come from fish/animals.
Thes capsules contain DHA and EPA omega-3.
I order it from Myprotein, but i live in norway so i have noe idea how the shipping is to get it where you live.
I cant reccomend or not recommend it to anyone else because i have no idea how others will respoond especially when you have had a concussion.
I know that a plantbased/vegan whole foods should be very good if you don`t want your body to be inflameted and you should check that out.
Watch/listen to this video if you can. It`s uploaded by the guy in this channel. He talks about everything you should do and eat etc.
The information here is the new science around concussion and i have A LOT of hours behind the computer doing the research needed to confirm this and i think
everything he is saying is pretty much on the spot. czcams.com/video/mEvoc_zsrpg/video.html
Just ask anything you want if there is anything else :)

Today I was picking up some things from the floor in my bathroom and I stood up really fast and hit the right side of (the back of my??) head on the sink, real hard, I stood up and looked at myself, didn’t feel anything, but a few hours later I had horrible ocular blind spots, and it was hard to see through my left eye because of them for maybe around 25-30mins (these are common for me when I’m stressed/dehydrated) but I have anxiety and it makes me think I’m having a concussion… 2 hours later I have another headache, but my boyfriend and I might just be stressed because he had one too… no dizziness no vomiting no nausea so far, it’s been about 12-13 hours, my head still hurts a little but not as much after I took some pain pills, is it ok to sleep? Do I have a concussion? I have really bad anxiety so I can’t stop thinking of it haha…

My anxiety made the headache worst so that pretty much proved to me I was having a tension headache from anxiety. I know your probably over your problem but most likely you have some health anxiety which stimulated those symptoms after you just hit your head.

The table is hardwood and the distance between the floor and the table is around 60cm. I got up with an amount of force that you would regularly get up with since I didn't think a table would be in the way. I had pain in my head immediately and a mild lingering headache a day later (in the area that was hit -no frontal lobe headache) but I do have right side numbness on my head/face ? Could that be tmj from clamping my jaw or hitting nerves on head? Also felt some shoulder pain since arm was extended at the time of impact. Is this enough force to cause a concussion?

Only an inch of impact which would be height of my fingers. I didn’t really think anything of it but it did hurt. Anxiety is very capable of making your body undergo similar symptoms to a concussion and will gradually get worse if you don’t know how to cope with your anxious emotions. If you received a concussion, you would know right away as you would be completely disoriented and have major difficulty interpreting your surroundings. Believe me, it takes a substantial amount of force to sustain a concussion, and then again it might not be anything really.
