    Funny thing is we have the same coop and the same rooster breed. My hen is a different breed. Like you the casters need to be bigger so they touch the ground at all times that way you dont have to raise it up so high. Weve had ours about a year now and everything works and its like new. Especially being out in the weather 24/7.
    Also make they dont push bedding or poop in the way of the door from keeping it shutting all the way and damaging the motor. I have the regular sliding door that comes with it. They keep pushing debris in the track so I have to keep cleaning it out.

      That’s great to hear! Yes the casters are a disappointment. I may try to modify some casters I have laying around in the barn for this coop 🤔

    put a spacer of some sort like a couple washers on the 2 top fasteners to aim the wheels down and make them more useful on moves perhaps.

    Beautiful chickens! If the name is spelled Mille Fleurs as I believe you are saying, I guess it's from the French meaning 1,000 flowers. And the pattern on their feathers really is beautiful like a bouquet of flowers.

      Yes that is what their name means! They are very pretty bantams 🥰

    How do bunny colonies work? Do the 6week bucks get separated immediately? How do you use the colony space in front of the cages? Have you ever thought of growing rabbit food indoors, and how do you find people to buy pet bunnies? Love your channel! Thank you for even reading! ❤

    • @TealStoneHomestead

      Hi there! I don’t have a rabbit colony, my rabbits are housed in a cage system. Usually we separate litters between 12-16 weeks old with bucks/does. I forage a lot in the warmer seasons for my rabbits. And I don’t sell pet rabbits. My rabbits are used for meat, breeding stock, and show purposes. Hope this answers some questions!

    Would you make a video processing a bantam chicken from start to finish like you did with the rabbits. Ive started raiseing bantams for meat because i feel like they are more manageable for me to raise and process. Love your videos.

    It'd be cool to add a gutter and catchment. Doeth you know of a chicken breed which doeth well on a pure meat or mostly meat diet? Und would it be gut?

    I had to chuckle to myself. The metal strapping you used is called plumbers tape. I always want to call the white tape that you wrap around the threads of a plumbing screw-together connection (I can NEVER remember its name) plumbers tape and then my husband gets to have fun correcting me. 😂

    Hey, Teal Stone Homestead!! You are my absolute favorite channel ever lol...my Netherland Dwarf does are having babies next weekend!! I have never had rabbits, let alone babies before but watching your channel has inspired me to get some. Hopefully im gonna get some creme D'argents next year!! Do you have any tips for preparing fir the babies? And im also gonna feed them fresh, no pellets...what should i grow for them? I would absolutely love to buy one of your rabbits...how do you sell them and how much? (I know they arent pets, i would like to get a breeder for meat 😊) i used your pot pie recipe and it was delicious!!

      Thank you so much! Some great items to grow for rabbits would be barley grass, oat grass, parsley, basil, leaf lettuce, kale, and spinach 🙂

      @@TealStoneHomestead of course!! Thank you so much!! I am very excited about it, and your channel has taught me so much 😊...I literally check your channel every day to see if you posted 🤣...I learned how to butcher my first two Flemish giant rabbits from your channel too!! I used the broomstick method 🙂...are you on Facebook? And if so, do you sell your rabbits there? And one more thing...can I raise my rabbits only on the veggies you said, alone with some hay, or do I have to give them something else as well? (By the way I know you are probably really busy and I really appreciate you even reading my comment...if you don't get around to responding to this, no big deal, I get it! 😅) keep doing the things you love 💕 God bless!!

    I just watched your pre-fab rabbit hutch and you expressed concern with the rabbits chewing on the wood. Would they also chew on PVC? Or is PVC a no-no? Thanks!!

    Do you think this would be a good option for while my pullets are growing? There are only 3 of them. I am looking for something i can use for chickens that aren't ready to be with the big girls yet. And something that can be attached to my current set up once the babies aren't babies anymore. If that makes sense 😅.

    • @TealStoneHomestead
      @TealStoneHomestead  Před 4 měsíci +2

      I think the coop would be great for growing out younger chicks! I think one thing I would like to do, now that I’ve have the bantams in the coop during the rain, is add a bag or two of sand on the ground for better drainage.

    Why do they need a coop door INSIDE the coop? Seems pointless and wasteful. I have a very similar coop from TS and I bought a coop door for the outside door of the coop so my chickens can get out into my dog's yard. The coop door closes at sunset and opens at sunrise, so it actually keeps predators out of the coop at night. The only reason you should ever want to close yours is if it's cold.

    • @TealStoneHomestead
      @TealStoneHomestead  Před 4 měsíci

      We have a lot of predators here. Being locked inside the enclosed portion of the coop keeps them safe in case any predators try digging.

    • @Josef_R
      @Josef_R Před 4 měsíci

      @@TealStoneHomestead I forget about that since my chickens range inside my dog's yard.

    Mine rotted out in a year, the roof collapsed. I don't recommend these cheap coops, spend a bit more for quality.
