  • What are the best seaside resorts in the United Kingdom? For over 100 years, seaside holidays in resorts have been a hit with families. There’s no indication that these holidays will reduce anytime soon. Rather, they’re getting more popular even in lands with limited resources. The United Kingdom has no shortage of these resorts. The challenge, however, is to determine which of these resorts are the bests or worsts. This video about the 10 best seaside resorts in the UK has been produced to meet this challenge.
A lot of activities await you if you find yourself in a good resort, from jumping in the seal to building a sand castle. You will enjoy it a lot if you do it in one of the 10 best seaside resorts in the UK.
    10. Swanage, Dorset, England: 80 points
In South West of England, you’ll find a county named Dorset. Covering an area of 2,653 square kilometers, this ceremonial county comprises the unitary authority areas of Poole and Dorset, Bournemouth, and Christchurch. On the Priests Way in the county is where you’ll find Swanage. This seaside is one of the best seaside resorts in the United Kingdom.
With its panoramic views, the seaside resort offers relaxing luxurious holidays in self-catering accommodation in caravans and luxury hot tub lodges. If you want to own holiday homes, they’re available here with unrivaled views across the bay. It’s about one kilometer from the leisurely beautiful Swanage Railway. Its proximity to this and other parks, beaches, and castles makes it a good choice.
    9. St Davids, Pembrokeshire, Wales: 80 points
Let’s cross over to Wales to find the next one of the 10 best seaside resorts in the UK. You’ll find it in a small city and community with a cathedral. We’re referring to St Davids in Pembrokeshire. Lying on the River Alun, it’s the smallest city in the UK by population and the smallest urban area by local authority boundary.
The area that got its city status in 1995 has some of the most stunning coastal sceneries in Pembrokeshire. There you have holiday cottages, hotels, and camping activities in the home to the delightful Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and the Coast Path. It has attractive pleasurable activities, attractions, food and drink, and an array of accommodation options.
    8. Southwold, Suffolk, England: 80 points
The next place we’re touching on is Southwold, a seaside town in Suffolk. It’s on the English North Sea coast located in the north Suffolk on the Suffolk Heritage Coast in the East Suffolk district of Suffolk. The seaside town is about 18 kilometers south of Lowestoft (one of the worst seaside resorts), 47 kilometers northeast of Ipswich, and 156 kilometers northeast of London.
You would love the charming seaside resort of Southwold. Though it’s almost an island, its sandy beach and beach hut-lined promenade offers a wonderful environment for holidays and weekenders away from home. Here you have a thriving market town atmosphere. We agree with those who give it 80 points in all.
    7. Filey, North Yorkshire, England: 80 points
Filey is a beautiful seaside town in North Yorkshire. Located in the Borough of Scarborough, it is one of the best seaside resorts in the UK. It’s not unexpected; that a place like this will develop into a resort since it had long been a fishing village. Its large beach played a big role in its becoming a popular tourist resort.
Though Filey is sandwiched between Scarborough and Bridlington on Filey Bay as a minnow, it’s much quieter than its neighbors. It has plenty of seats to accommodate all visitors who are there to watch the world go by. The beauty of it is that it’s not as busy as nearby larger resorts. It scores 80 points.

I find Lyme Regis, Sidmouth, Dawlish, Barry, Porthcawl, Weymouth, Bournemouth and even Littlehaven are outside the top 10 Best Seaside Resorts in the UK

Some so called top seaside towns have horrible stoney beaches. Clacton has sandy beaches!

@@oldplucker1 Weymouth, Dawlish and Cleethorpes have sandy beaches too! Lyme Regis has a stoney side and a sandy side and Charmouth is more worse stoney than Lyme Regis.

@@robertbuckley2429 Clacton-on-Sea has over 4 miles of sandy beaches. The better ones stretching for 1/2 a mile west of ‘Hastings Beach’ and also East of the Pier for several miles up to Holland Haven which was once a deepwater Elizabethan Port til it silted up! And even further! Clacton also has 3 Martello Towers from the time of the Napoleonic Wars. So some history there too! So Clacton wins for beach holidays and for cyclists and walkers even more miles of clifftop paths stretching from clacton to Walton-on-the-Naze. From Seawick to Walton-on-the-Naze (Fossil hunting) is over 12 miles. Cleethorpes beaches are tiny compared to Clacton and Clacton has a real Pier, so does Walton!

The factors to look for are not always obvious!
    1) Are dog bans actually enforced?
    2) Is metal detecting allowed? If so then it is good because sharp metal objects, broken bottles, blades, hypodermics, corroded sharp bits of cans will have been removed! If metal detecting is banned stay off the beach!
    3) What is the weather like there?
    4) Is the surface litter removed every night?
    5) Do the amenities suit your needs?
    6) What is the Crime Rate?
    7) Is there shelter from the wind?
    8) Are free public toilets available?
    9) Is there free parking available?
    10) Is there history there to be seen?
    11) Can you easily cycle or walk for miles along the coast?
    12) Are there interesting places to visit nearby?
Go through this list and a lot of so called top resorts fail!

I moved from the UK to Long Island NY 15 years ago... My favourite seaside resort was Whitby N Yorkshire, oh my god when i came back after 15 years of last visiting it. The place was full of crappy bargin shops, coffee shops and Whitby jet stores. All those amazing little shops had gone and just replaced with crap. It was full of morons on mopeds and that is all you heard. The place was dirty and so unkempt. I am so mad that the powers that be let this beautiful place fall into such a poor state. Dont get me wrong, I loved being back in the place and the things like the abbey and the old portions of the town look amazing still. However the 'clientel' of tourist had changed for the worst. It feels like the place has been cheapened and lost that aura that made it so special. It feels like its not the place I remember anymore. Its got chavs and just general scum floating around more than what used to be there.
