I still can't believe this song was a hit, just because of the lyrics, but I heard it on the radio myself and loved it. This version rocks likes a mother.
Wow ! What a great rendition of one of my all-time favorite songs ! The original was appropriate for the time and still holds up. You all give it a great kick in the ass. Super guitar tone. What a great band !
Have you ever got this right!!!! Was overjoyed when I heard this fantastically heavy version. Can't stop playing it!
KICK ASS cover....probably the best I've ever heard....NICE JOB guys!!!!!!!!
2/7/22......WELL DONE! Just tripped over this. I remember in 71 how 'they' tried to ban this song from radio.
That rocked....... I'm going to be 55 next week... I remember this song as a kid.... I was around 7 or 8 when this song came out!!!.......Great mix and a lot of power!! Thanks for sharing!
Timothy + 3 cups of coffee...what a way to get the day cranked up!
I love covers when they play it their own way, and even more when its a bit of a lesser known song! Thanks guys!
Great cover guys! I know The Buoys personally, you guys sound great!
I live in NEPA and know the band "The Buoys" personally. Great job Robbie, Karen, Jeremy and Dan...Someone finally did this great tune justice...
Hi, I live in South Pennsylvania
When I was in kindergarten this song came on the radio and my Dad excitedly informed me that they ate Timothy. Great job!
Fantastic cover!!
I like the break at 2:23 !! Great performance.
Just listened again. Three times. There are very few songs (and especially remakes) that I would fling this kind of praise upon, but, this one...THIS one...Man-oh-Manischewitz..THIS ONE is a bona-fide, yakuza-and-yeti-hunter-approved monster.
Along with "There's No War On Xmas (When Xmas Is In Your Heart)" and "Republican Girls" should be on every indie radio station playlist in the country.
Thanks for your artwork Rob, Karen, Jason, Dan, Laurent, Sebastien, and everyone else who had a hand in this.
I’m bingeing on “Timothy” tonight, this is a great cover!
GREAT COVER
I lived not far from the Sheppton Mine Disaster, what this songs about. I remember this tune when just a boy, Great cover. I like the "raw" and added "edge" to the song. Again, great job!
This is a fictional story; not based on the Sheppton Mine disaster.
@@maxspeed2084 On Wikipedia's mine disaster web page songwriter Rupert Holmes insisted that he had never heard of the mine disaster which occurred back in 1963 and said that if he did he would have never even written the song in 1971 out of respect.
What a great fucking cover! HELL YES
I had to come back to this this morning.. this is awesome.
This kicks some serious ass.
Robbie, this is still the best - I play it daily :)
thanks, Lauren.
Sounds nice, can't wait for the Boston Symphony's version.

An excellent cover! Great job on this sadly mostly forgotten gem!!
Cousin Oliver KILLS IT!!!!! Great Job on a sad song!
Wow - that's just fantastic! You got a subscriber!
I’m only four years younger than Mr. Rist, yet I first encountered the song only days ago. Even though the song’s subject matter is unsettling, it rocks and I’ve been binging on the original version by the Buoys. I just stumbled onto this version, and it knocked my socks off! 🎸 🥁 Although it’s more stripped down than I prefer, the band unleashed the song’s potential that probably couldn’t have been realized in 1971 (at least not with Rupert Holmes and the Buoys). I wonder what Mr. Holmes would say about it?
Adding it to my playlist of favorite individual music tracks.
Written by Rupert Holmes and banned on radio at the time, awesome cover guys!
🎙🎸Love Karen she ROCKS 🌹✌🌹🎸🎙
Pretty darn good love this song i been trying to find the bouys live but cant going to drum with this.
I'm still loving this
OH look what they done to this song MA!!!!
Super great cover! Song makes me hungry.
I hadn't heard my favorite song about cannibalism for many years until I heard Robbie do it solo acoustic at Skinny's Lounge on Nov 5, 2013 (right before my nightclub debut playing bass with Release On Demand), and it was intense, but this dynamic full band rehearsal studio version performed nine days later sends it to another level completely. To say the performance kicked serious ass is an insult to pulverized asses everywhere.. You can check out Robbie on Friday nights at Rock'n'Roll Pizza in Moorpark, and he will play all your 70s pop radio favorites, and he just might let you get up and sing with the band too. Don't be afraid...it's a lot of fun.
+Rick Waldron Thank you!
That was bad ass❤ barbecue sauce, Timmy taste amazing
Fantastic!!!
Good hard rocking version!
Timothy on speed! Great job guys!
They certainly did this justice.
Excellent!!
Great version! I was 10 when this was a hit and my friend and I played it on the juke box when we ate out, crack jokes about eating Timothy and just howl. My mother was not pleased.
I fucking LOVE this cover !!!!
This is insanely appetizing! Great job!
Kickin bass player
Wow.. wasn't expecting this! Most covers you see on youtube aren't this good. I also just realized the vocalist/Guitarist played Oliver in "The Brady Bunch." Pretty damn good guys!
Did justice to the song great cover! wow!
Oh, HELLS YEAH, Robbie! Great tune, better cover…you sound fantastic!
Rockin that old song ..,.Sounds good,.
Well done, sounds fantastic !
Great job!
A belated very well done
Great cover, good job!
Great cover!
Robbie - Jeremy: this is just FANTASTIC - would've been a HUGELY successful 90's hit remake, I'd suspect.....
SORRY, Laurent - that goes out to Karen & Dan TOO......
@@ogam5 Why, thank you :) -Dan
Love you canned that bird chirping violin
an amped up version of this obscure classic to remind us all that cannibalism begins at home
wow amazing
Great cover
Kick ass cover
You guys rock! Great sound!!
LOL,, Great job guys!
I think this is the best ever cover song about cannibalism that I have ever heard.
Just found this impressive!
I think Bill and Jerry were proud when they heard this. And Rupert too!
Wow, what an awesome rendition of this tune! I was looking for a cover to getting rolling on learning the bass for it. This is the bass score I will go with for sure! What a great band! Well done, thanks for sharing!
A humble thank you. It means a lot to know someone was influenced by me. My favorite part is the beginning of each verse when I try to follow the melody, a trick I use often.
@@jeremycohen7278 Yes. It reminds me a lot of the great Jack Cassady's style.
@@billydecker9396 Thanks, man! High praise indeed.
My favorite song about cannibalism
A story the song's writer/producer spun to get it on stations that wouldn't play it due to the macabre subject matter. A mule? Really? "Timothy Timothy/God what did we do?!" Awful lot of guilt and anguish for eating a mule to survive.
Awesome cover of a really creepy song. Harmonies were spot on, but more powerful than the original. Your bass player is a fucking beast. He played the hell out of that Fender Jazz; adding many new bass progressions and riffs, but they all sounded interesting and incredible. You guys really brought this old song to a more modern sound and made it rock without ruining the integrity of the song. Great job!
You are too kind! Thank you! Signed, the bass player.
@@jeremycohen7278 You're a great bass player.
Signed, the drummer

Love the song ,great sound, very good job
Bravo, Great job! Love the name of your band too!
I really loved this cover. I thought it was done really well.
Rupert Holmes was a student at Syracuse university back when I used to hang-out up there......great song.....cannibalism can be cool.....☠☠☠☠
I love that song ❤️
Good job Cousin Oliver
That was an excellent rendition of the original version, especially considering it was without the orchestration.
howielong
Absolutely❗❗❗
I think I like it better than the original. Great job guys!
Great tonsils, RR!
Holy shit, that was awesome.
Love it. Stole your version for our band.... :-)

Wow great cover !
I do miss the violin " eeee eeee" during hook
Cool song! Cool cover, and a nice little story about dietary choices is just the right amount of uplifting any mood.
... Timothy was more of a delicate guy, huh...?
