The F30 328i is definitely quick car and arguably has better driving dynamics than the heavier inline-6 alternatives but it'll never make the power you seek nor will it be cost effective if you decide to go down that route. Here's my suggestion, if you're seeking a more engaging, analog sports car with good driver feedback, speed, and ergonomics, buy an E90 335i and a fire extinguisher for your wallet. However, if the more luxurious approach of the F30 platform satisfies you then any modified B58 equipped vehicle will be fast with basic bolt-ons and ludicrously fast with a turbo upgrade (E85 too).
