The wardrobe organisation tips I share in this video are a curation of years of trial and error with my own personal wardrobes.
My experience comes from moving house 9 times in 6 years, including hauling my entire wardrobe overseas. I've now been settled in the same house for almost 3 years, and my wardrobe has remained just as organised as it was when we first moved in.
And that is thanks to the systems I have put in place.
These simple yet genius wardrobe organisation systems are shared throughout this youtube video, as I take you through each section of my wardrobe.
It is time to Kondo-fy your wardrobe to guarantee that it will stay that way for the foreseeable future.
👉 My 3 Rules To Maintain Wardrobe Organisation 👈
1. Everything must have a home (this is from Marie Kondo, thank you)
2. Follow the one minute rule
3. Label label label
😇 Other Wardrobe Organisation Tips from the Video Summarised 😇
1. Donate unwanted clothes regularly
2. Learn to love folding (fold unconsciously)
3. Keep clean edges on the outside
4. Use command hooks for belts, hats, jewelry, etc
5. Test different systems and find what's good for you
6. Use different hangers for different items
7. Store shoes on their sides to fit more!
8. Use clear storage containers so you can see what's in them
9. Use boxes to separate items in draws and cupboards
10. Maximize the use of the space you have
11. Organise according to season
12. Store items on their side in draws (another Marie Kondo tip!)
13. Ask yourself why your current system isn't working so you can try fix it!
14. Recycle household items to help with your organisation (jars, cardboard boxes, etc)
I truly had a blast making this video! I really hope you take away some amazing closet organization ideas from this video, and implement them into your own closets so that you can keep them organised for good!

I LOVED making this video! 😋 What is your favourite TIP?! xx
Find home for everything you own. So simple yet sooo difficult!
Recicle at the end was the best tip!! Loved your creativity and simplicity with the jewelry drawer!!💜
Reusing lids as jewellery organizers is brilliant!
Labels are key! It’s such a big deal!
The realest video out here! Most of the CZcamsrs who does this video has the most PERFECT and biggest closet. You're so relatable, the tips and things you show makes more sense!
I love the way u even use bottle lids and egg crates & used boxes to organize your jewelry. Unlike other individuals who fuss over purchasing matching plastic bins..u are more mindful to choose what we can find inside our homes. God bless u more. I am from Manila, Philippines
Thank you so much 🙏🏽♥️ yes I think this is so important to do this around the house. Thank you for the watching. God bless you too ♥️ x hello Philippines from Sydney 👋🏽 xx
Love seeing more Aussie fashion bloggers ❤️☺️ Good to see a realistic wardrobe that isn’t perfect and stylised to magazine perfection. Easier for us to relate to. Tip to share -I avoid cardboard and try to use plastic containers since cardboard attracts bugs (roaches😳).
I never knew that, great to know!
This is great! I love how you normalise and encourage recycling items around the house for organisation. And also that your wardrobe isn’t ‘perfect’, but that it’s important that it works for you. I needed to hear this! 🙌 I would love to see how you organise your make up.
Thanks! ❤️
For my jewelry, I bought some clear plastic boxes with small square compartments from Jo-Ann fabrics. I separated everything I had by color or stone, then made a grid on the computer and printed the name of each piece (pearl earring, pearl bracelet, pearl necklace) and fastened it to the bottom of the clear container so each piece has a home, and all pieces that coordinate are in the same box. It doesn’t look as fancy as a nice jewelry box, but it works! They have been organized for about 20 years. I labeled each box on the end piece (gold, silver, rubies) then stored them kinda like your leggings on end in a canvas basket. I can see all of them at the same time and they are alphabetized.
I agree on organizing like items together instead of by color. Within my "grouped" items I do sort light to dark.
Francine Dake oh yes I do that as well! 👏🏽👏🏽🙌
I'm a messy person, but my wardrobe stays decently organised thanks to most items having their own place. I also fold and put away laundry while watching yt videos or listening to a podcast, love that tip!
For me, having a space for the clothes I plan to re-wear before washing is really helpful. That way clothes don't end up on the floor in the evening. I also like to store entire outfits on my chunky wooden hangers, that way you don't have to look for the things that go together if you're pressed for time, and you don't need as many hangers.
Best closet organization video I’ve seen. Very detailed and practical. Love the tips 👏👏👏
Elaine Wong aw thank you gorgeous 🥰♥️🙏🏽 that means a lot. Thanks for watching! X
Finally a realistic wardrobe organization. Liked it. I was tired of seeing perfect wardrobe with perfect hangers, perfect color organization, big spaces and so on. Love your semplicity and the way you organized a perfectly normal wardrobe , like most of the people. Hugs from Italy
Yay! I’m so glad you liked it 🥰♥️ thank you for watching! X
Love the jewelry organization and reusing other household items.
Thanks so much ♥️💫 cx
Great video. I've been playing around with organising my closet. Currently testing a system where I group each pair of pants with one to three matching tops, so that I can get a complete outfit with one reach. Like dark jeans with black camisole, white shirt and tan sweater. Wear all three, two or one with those jeans. The mental hurdle is breaking the habit of wanting to cross combine rather than trusting the system that is designed to simplify choice and match the occasion. I think I'll try labelling and perhaps different coloured hangers, letting go of the wooden ones, like you.
I love the tip on getting rid of items gradually!! So much easier than facing a big overhaul.Thank you! Love your videos!!
It’s really helpful! I take out things gradually too!
I like the „less than a minute“ tip the most👍
Thank you! Yes it’s such a good one to remember! X
You're the first Aussie organiser I've come across. Great to see we have many similarities. Thanks for sharing. I love your tips on using boxes in the wardrobe. I will try that! ☺️
Thanks for illustrating that one does not have to buy fancy hangers and organizers in order to categorize our belongings! I’m getting ready for the summer weather while you are getting ready for the winter!
Eileen Chang definitely more important that everything works well rather than looking perfect. Thanks so much for watching 🥰♥️ oh I wish I was getting ready for summer!!! 😋🌞 xxx
You look stunning in this pale pink dress 😍😍😍😍😍
♥️ ah, thank you so much 🥰♥️ xxx
I feel proud of myself after watching this video since I have done some of these tips already
Btw I love the use you give to boxes!
This video is perfection! I really appreciate how relaxed this was - I’m totally going to use my egg cartons for things:) great idea and so eco friendly
Who doesn't like folding??😱 😜
Now that I got to know organising is your thing too, I feel that this subscription was meant to be!!😄
Also, the dress looks great on you!! 😍
Fabjona Haliti hahah another folding lover 🤓🤓 so good to have you here 😋😋😆 hehe thanks for watching lovely 🥰 xxx
the “like boy over here” got me 😂 ..
Thank you for showing us your organization tips! Yes would love to see more of these organizing ideas!!!!!
This was an excellent organizational video and I got several great tips I can use. And not odd at all....I line up my underwear exactly the same way, as it keeps things so tidy. Also love how you repurpose things like the tops of jars etc. Better than wasting and buying new.
If we can’t see everything we tend not to wear it or buy new!
When I saw your bamboo shoe rack I instantly realised it looks EXACTLY like an unused wooden wine rack that’s in my basement. I can easily remove the small bits that hold bottles in place. Guess what I’m doing today!! THANKS! 🥳
Ohh my! I love this!!! How did it turn out? Xox
@@EmilyElizabethMay well the wine rack is 1 centimeter too wide to go into my cupboard so I’ve got to figure out where I can put it 🙈
@@Punker23 ohhh no 🙈🙈🙈😆 good luck!! I hope it works out - love a little DIY! X
You are very good at sharing tips that aren’t the latest trend but actually useful. I’ve used a lot of your tips.
And getting rid of items I don’t use is one of the hardest things for me.
I have mismatched hangers and bins because like you I just care about usefulness and not being wasteful.
Love seeing your baby boy he is just so irresistibly cute 🤗 💙
You are so lovely 🥰💗🙏🏽 thank you so much xoxo
"Everything needs to have a home" is not Marie Kondo, itʻs my grandmother. Her phrase was "a place for everything and everything in its place."
🥰♥️🥰 I love it!
This was so helpful! Absolutely the best video on organizing I’ve seen. I’m definitely inspired!!
Thank you 🙏🏻
Reno Benders so glad you loved it! I went into as much detail as I could 🥰🙏🏽🤗 xxx
Loved seeing that all your hangers don’t ‘match’ - and loved seeing a longer vid on ya channel, what a treat. I use little cardboard boxes in my drawers too, and it’s helped me so much.
Chiara Adams 🥰🥰 aw thank you Chiara. Little boxes are life changing!! 😆 xx
Great job... simplicity at it’s best, and I love you recommend to prepare a week outfit ahead... Thank you for sharing 💕
This is such a great vid. Going to start on my wardrobe today👌🏻
Hi Emily! I loved this video and your tips to organize your accessories.
I am 65 and just about on the same page as you. It’s not OCD it’s NAT (neat and tidy)😉
I do have categories and dark to light within, although use all the same suedey black hangers with clips on for trousers, Turn my hangers round until I’ve worn the item so I know what I don’t wear. Loved your dress. Something I would have worn 30 years ago.
I love folding socks and underclothes.
Keep up the good work👍
Hahaha NAT! I love it 😆🤩 love your idea for swapping the hangers around. I have never tried this, I must remember to do it!!
Thank you for watching ♥️ xx
I like a lot this kind of videos. I suggest you one about tips for decluttering your wardrobe. Thanks.
This is so inspiring and accessible! I love your system and will use it too. Esp love your use of jar lids for jewelry. So clever. Thanks so much! ❤
I’m a little more OCD and like matching velvet hangers and colour coordinate by section lighter to darker! Very good tips regardless! Doing what works for you is the best one!
I love your video because this is very realistic and simple. Great job!!
You loved making the video & I loved watching it.... but not for the common purpose of learning how to organize BUT actually totally in awe of how you & I do every single process of organizing virtually the same way. Sooo amazing, thanks so much!!! 💟💜💟
Omg really? 😄 that’s so good! My organisation twin 👯♂️ it’s nice to meet you 🥰♥️ x
Nice, I enjoyed this!
Hello 👋 loved this video. So helpful especially the putting shoes on their sides , and using jar lids for jewellery organizing. I’m the same using old boxes etc but the jar lids is a neat idea 😅. I’m the same on the clothes.
Thank you.
Yes do more of these please.
I just discovered you and I’m binging on all your lookbooks. Where have you been all my life??? LOVE your styling videos- I rewatch them so many times for inspiration. Too bad you’re in Australia...I can’t buy anything you recommend since I’m in the US. But it’s ok- thank you for your videos!!!
Loved it! Yes to the vlog please!
The most realistic organization video I've ever seen 💜💜💜💜💜
Love this video!
Love being organised
loved the advice ❤❤
Loved the jewelry section.
Most down to earth but so helpful thank you
Love it!
Love this video❤️❤️❤️
This was actually helpful, thank you!
I would do singlets, tshirts, long sleeves then blazers.
Your videos are so helpful thank you
I was just thinking about you and you popped up. Yeah❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Kathye Sargent hehe 🥰😋 xoxox
I totally fold my underwear too!! And the exact way you showed, learned from Marie Kondo!! I am an organized freak 😜
Hehe 🙊 we are a certain breed and I love it 🥰♥️ 😆 x
Love your dress! 💞
Loved this video. Thank you. Xx
Shantell Dart you are so welcome 🥰♥️ thank you for watching! X
My wardrobe looks very much like yours! I saw a korean youtuber who used bookstands to separate towels and keep them neatly stacked and compressed even if you take one out! You might want to try that with your top shelf in your cabinet (the one with hangers) ☺️
Watching again ❤️❤️❤️
This is amazing
Great tips! I really liked the video.
Susan Clarke 🥰🙏🏽 thanks Susan! Xxx
Thank you
These tips are effing great!!!
😆🙏🏽🥰 thanks so much !
Very useful tips!
SOCIALLY MineTube 🥰🙏🏽 thank you lovely! X
Thank you for doing this video!! I thought I was maybe overly neurotic for categorizing my underwear (which I fold also!) and socks, and having them in little containers in drawer.. Now I know am not the only person who does it.
Great tips in this video, thank you !! 🙂
Your dress is so beautiful!
Underrated ❤️
I wanted this video thanks.
Kathye Sargent you’re welcome 🥰♥️
A woman close to my own heart! 😀👍Deb
A woman that I wish I went after her heart. I hate throwing anything away. I love everything, and since I love shopping, I have more clothes than hangers. I am SO thrilled I finally found a diet that works because I have a basket and if something is too big( like all my bras) in it goes. What a wonderful way to donate clothes!
I’m an Emily Elizabeth too!
I’m excellent at organizing, but horrible at maintaining. My favorite is the smallish sewing plastic containers that have lots of little squares that I put most of my jewelry in. Then I put them on end in a canvas basket under my makeup table. Each container is labeled: silver, sparkles, white, pink, garnet, green.... so all the similar gems are in the same container, rings, necklaces, and earrings. I find if they’re not really convenient, I don’t wear them. My underwear looks like yours except I cut up some cardboard from shoe boxes so my panties and socks are in rows by colors. It works really well. Actually all that stuff works really well,it’s the inside of my closet that’s exploding.
Sounds like you have most of it on track except for the wardrobe 😌 you are so right that continence is super important, making things convenient makes you wear them and put them away better. Hmm I wonder what you can do about your wardrobe. Maybe you need a little declutter first? I love the 2 minute rule, I keep this one in my head all the time, it really helps ♥️ good luck Kathy! Thanks for watching ♥️💫 xx
@@EmilyElizabethMay boy oh boy, have I been decluttering! I’ve lost 50 pounds in the last 6 months, and need to go through everything every month or two, sew, alter, give away…. I told my son that at the rate I’m going, I’ll be a minimalist by the time I’m 80. Went down to visit with my daughter’s family, and 2 of the 4 tops were too big and I gave them to my sister.
Loved & Subbed!
Thanks so much 🙏🏽💓🙏🏽
Love the 1 minute rule! Emily what's on your lips here? Really pretty!
You need to get hangers all matching makes it look so tidy, check out the pink lily onesi use them for everything
I totally understand that logic ♥️ but I feel very strongly about having different hangers for different items of clothing. The felt hangers are good for certain clothes, the plastic hangers with hooks are good for other clothes and the wooden are good for others. It’s more about functionality for me than how it looks. Everything needs to function at its best for me to keep it tidy.
I also think it’s a big waste to get rid of hangers and replace them when these ones work fine already. I totally understand this method isn’t for everyone though ♥️ xxx
I love your dress.
Do you use a piece of clothing more than once before washing? If so, where would you put this item while its time of wearing comes again?
Thanks for acting on my request 😁. Will you also do a shoe collection like you did a bag collection.
You’re lovely!
🙏🏽♥️ thank you x
You are my organizațional twins. LOL I fold my under wear to, and i don't think this is to ocd.
😆😄👯♂️ yay for folding underwear 😆👯♂️👯♂️👯♂️💫
"A place for everything and everything in it's place" has been around a lot longer than Marie Condo.
Lol I fold my undies the exact same way. I’ll never go back!
Alyce Thompson oh thank god there’s another out there! Let’s be friends 😋😋
What do you do with clothes that aren’t dirty but also aren’t completely clean - ie worn once or twice?
I just hand them back! I figure if they are “clean” enough for me to wear them again then they are clean enough to put away. If I wasn’t happy to put them back with my other clothes then I wouldn’t be happy to wear them. (Otherwise you can have an extra shelf / spot that you keep empty and free for your worn clothes). But I personally don’t see the need for that 😌♥️ x
I love to fold clothes! Not bedding though! 😆🇧🇷🇺🇸
Hahaha I feel you! 😆 those damn fitted sheets
More organising videos please
sure! I also love making them 😌💕
It’s not Marie Kondo to go from black to white, she goes from dark to light but also from heavy to light fabrics, so all your stuff can be grouped into like items as mostly they will have the same length/heaviness. That’s how I do it, anyway.
What a lot of stuff, but well organised!
I fold mine
Kathye Sargent your undies?! 🤩
Where did you get this lovely dress ? 😊
Aww this is such an old purchase, years and years ago I can’t remember. It’s actually for sale on my Depop at the moment if you are the same size ♥️ x
At 2.28 into the video, large orb enters from left of screen!!!!
I thought your closet would be huge😀
Kathye Sargent haha I know! Not massive but also my summer dresses and coats are in another closet 😋 xx
that's exactly how I do my wardrobe, but I use all the same hangers and they are the wooden ones just because they do look better but I have more room than you because I've taken over my husbands' space gradually over the years.....the creeping strategy hee hee
You look like an adult Millie Bobbie Brown
You ' re so sweety..I like your videos, not to big..and so intresting! We have the same parfume..Dolce Cabbana "The One"...So female ! Kisses...
Maria Found thank you Maria 🥰♥️ oh my “The One” is such a beautiful scent!! You have good taste 😝😉😉😉 x
I enjoyed. Tip..... Organized does have a Z not S at the end of the word...
Jo Penn thank you Jo! 🥰🙏🏽 Actually we spell it with an S in Australia! I think the US and Canada spell with a Z. I had a hard time choosing which spelling to use because I have so many subscribers from the States! X
Emily is correct !
Thank you for explaining....I did not realize that....my apologies...
Jo Penn don’t apologise, it’s so strange how English words can be spelt different! Someone back in the day just wanted to confuse us even more, like grammar isn’t hard enough already!! 😋 so you spelt realize with a Z and we spell it with an S!! 😆 the list goes on! 😋 thanks for watching my vid today xox ♥️🙏🏽
Wait, you mean there’s actually people that don’t fold underwear? 😲😅
This is such a great vid. Going to start on my wardrobe today👌🏻
