  • Organising your wardrobe is one thing. But keeping it organised is a whole other ball game! 😖
In this video I share over 17 different tips to organise your wardrobe and keep it organised FOR GOOD 💪
WATCH NEXT 👉 "How To Style a Trench Coat" • 11 Trench Coat Outfit ...
The wardrobe organisation tips I share in this video are a curation of years of trial and error with my own personal wardrobes.
My experience comes from moving house 9 times in 6 years, including hauling my entire wardrobe overseas. I've now been settled in the same house for almost 3 years, and my wardrobe has remained just as organised as it was when we first moved in.
And that is thanks to the systems I have put in place.
These simple yet genius wardrobe organisation systems are shared throughout this youtube video, as I take you through each section of my wardrobe.
It is time to Kondo-fy your wardrobe to guarantee that it will stay that way for the foreseeable future.
👉 My 3 Rules To Maintain Wardrobe Organisation 👈
    1. Everything must have a home (this is from Marie Kondo, thank you)
    2. Follow the one minute rule
    3. Label label label
😇 Other Wardrobe Organisation Tips from the Video Summarised 😇
    1. Donate unwanted clothes regularly
    2. Learn to love folding (fold unconsciously)
    3. Keep clean edges on the outside
    4. Use command hooks for belts, hats, jewelry, etc
    5. Test different systems and find what's good for you
    6. Use different hangers for different items
    7. Store shoes on their sides to fit more!
    8. Use clear storage containers so you can see what's in them
    9. Use boxes to separate items in draws and cupboards
    10. Maximize the use of the space you have
    11. Organise according to season
    12. Store items on their side in draws (another Marie Kondo tip!)
    13. Ask yourself why your current system isn't working so you can try fix it!
    14. Recycle household items to help with your organisation (jars, cardboard boxes, etc)
I truly had a blast making this video! I really hope you take away some amazing closet organization ideas from this video, and implement them into your own closets so that you can keep them organised for good!

Love seeing more Aussie fashion bloggers ❤️☺️ Good to see a realistic wardrobe that isn’t perfect and stylised to magazine perfection. Easier for us to relate to. Tip to share -I avoid cardboard and try to use plastic containers since cardboard attracts bugs (roaches😳).

This is great! I love how you normalise and encourage recycling items around the house for organisation. And also that your wardrobe isn’t ‘perfect’, but that it’s important that it works for you. I needed to hear this! 🙌 I would love to see how you organise your make up.
    Thanks! ❤️

For my jewelry, I bought some clear plastic boxes with small square compartments from Jo-Ann fabrics. I separated everything I had by color or stone, then made a grid on the computer and printed the name of each piece (pearl earring, pearl bracelet, pearl necklace) and fastened it to the bottom of the clear container so each piece has a home, and all pieces that coordinate are in the same box. It doesn’t look as fancy as a nice jewelry box, but it works! They have been organized for about 20 years. I labeled each box on the end piece (gold, silver, rubies) then stored them kinda like your leggings on end in a canvas basket. I can see all of them at the same time and they are alphabetized.

I'm a messy person, but my wardrobe stays decently organised thanks to most items having their own place. I also fold and put away laundry while watching yt videos or listening to a podcast, love that tip!
For me, having a space for the clothes I plan to re-wear before washing is really helpful. That way clothes don't end up on the floor in the evening. I also like to store entire outfits on my chunky wooden hangers, that way you don't have to look for the things that go together if you're pressed for time, and you don't need as many hangers.

Great video. I've been playing around with organising my closet. Currently testing a system where I group each pair of pants with one to three matching tops, so that I can get a complete outfit with one reach. Like dark jeans with black camisole, white shirt and tan sweater. Wear all three, two or one with those jeans. The mental hurdle is breaking the habit of wanting to cross combine rather than trusting the system that is designed to simplify choice and match the occasion. I think I'll try labelling and perhaps different coloured hangers, letting go of the wooden ones, like you.

I’m excellent at organizing, but horrible at maintaining. My favorite is the smallish sewing plastic containers that have lots of little squares that I put most of my jewelry in. Then I put them on end in a canvas basket under my makeup table. Each container is labeled: silver, sparkles, white, pink, garnet, green.... so all the similar gems are in the same container, rings, necklaces, and earrings. I find if they’re not really convenient, I don’t wear them. My underwear looks like yours except I cut up some cardboard from shoe boxes so my panties and socks are in rows by colors. It works really well. Actually all that stuff works really well,it’s the inside of my closet that’s exploding.

    • @EmilyElizabethMay
      @EmilyElizabethMay  Před 3 lety

Sounds like you have most of it on track except for the wardrobe 😌 you are so right that continence is super important, making things convenient makes you wear them and put them away better. Hmm I wonder what you can do about your wardrobe. Maybe you need a little declutter first? I love the 2 minute rule, I keep this one in my head all the time, it really helps ♥️ good luck Kathy! I totally understand that logic ♥️ but I feel very strongly about having different hangers for different items of clothing. The felt hangers are good for certain clothes, the plastic hangers with hooks are good for other clothes and the wooden are good for others. It’s more about functionality for me than how it looks. Everything needs to function at its best for me to keep it tidy.
I also think it’s a big waste to get rid of hangers and replace them when these ones work fine already. I totally understand this method isn’t for everyone though ♥️ xxx

Do you use a piece of clothing more than once before washing? If so, where would you put this item while its time of wearing comes again?

What do you do with clothes that aren’t dirty but also aren’t completely clean - ie worn once or twice?

    • @EmilyElizabethMay
      @EmilyElizabethMay  Před 3 lety

I just hand them back! I figure if they are “clean” enough for me to wear them again then they are clean enough to put away. If I wasn’t happy to put them back with my other clothes then I wouldn’t be happy to wear them. (Otherwise you can have an extra shelf / spot that you keep empty and free for your worn clothes). But I personally don’t see the need for that 😌♥️ x

It’s not Marie Kondo to go from black to white, she goes from dark to light but also from heavy to light fabrics, so all your stuff can be grouped into like items as mostly they will have the same length/heaviness. That’s how I do it, anyway.

that's exactly how I do my wardrobe, but I use all the same hangers and they are the wooden ones just because they do look better but I have more room than you because I've taken over my husbands' space gradually over the years.....the creeping strategy hee hee

Jo Penn thank you Jo! 🥰🙏🏽 Actually we spell it with an S in Australia! I think the US and Canada spell with a Z. I had a hard time choosing which spelling to use because I have so many subscribers from the States! X

Jo Penn don’t apologise, it’s so strange how English words can be spelt different! Someone back in the day just wanted to confuse us even more, like grammar isn’t hard enough already!! 😋 so you spelt realize with a Z and we spell it with an S!! 😆 the list goes on! 😋 thanks for watching my vid today xox ♥️🙏🏽
