As a former costumed actor myself. $1 is enough. $5 is kind anything higher than that is great. He was trying to play you for extra cash
Hollywood blvd makes me feel really uncomfortable with all the shady people. $20 is way too much; there are people at conventions with much better hand-made costumes who don't charge you to take photos with them. So good to see you and Jen having fun at least. : )

I so very much appreciate you two sharing this experience. 🤗💚 I have a driving/flying phobia, and as much as I'd love to see Hollywood, CA one day, I get too comfortable at home to want to leave, and avoid going any further than I absolutely have to. But it's awesome to see what a real trip to the Blvd would be like. It's an iteresting place for sure. I still love a small town life, though 😆 I'm in Amish country, PA (10 min from Dutch wonderland) and I think I like the "boring", slow paced country areas over a hustle n' bustle place like CA. I had been to Raleigh Durham NC, or a small farm area outside of Raleigh to visit a relative, and I absolutely loved that area. cant wait to see your new home when youre settled in at the NC place. It's so gorgeous there.💚

There is absolutely a better place to view the Hollywood sign. Near the reservoir, at the lake Hollywood park. It's directly under the sign... great selfies!! 👍
I would not give obese Blorro or Spiderman $20 a piece,$5 for the effort in the costumes is all they would be getting
Make them agree to the price before you take the picture with them. They do the same thing in Vegas and will try to charge $50.

The character actors in NYC Times Square are vicious and you probably would have been cleaned out there. Good video Jacob, Hello Jen 🖐️
I went to New York in September and I was able to avoid all of those characters and scammers lol.
Always negotiate the price with the characters before taking photos. That goes for Hollywood and Las Vegas. Go to the Bronson caves for a great selfie spot for the Hollywood sign. These were the caves used in the 1960s television series Batman. it's about a 1/2 mile walk from the parking area to the caves.

Best place for good selfies of Hollywood sign 3160 Canyon Lake Dr. It’s a nice park below the sign.
Oh and best breakfast place is &Waffle They have 2 locations. Both fantastic.

There's another place that you can get much closer to the Hollywood sign but you'll have to hike it. You go over to Bronson Canyon where the Batcave exit for the TV show is and the path from there leads you to the closest you can get. The sign itself is fenced off and anyone who climbs over it, usually gets arrested since the ground is owned by someone who at one time was going to build houses there.
Such a great hike! I dedicated a whole day to hike and just sit atop the hill above the sign!👍🏽

Hi you two! SO happy to see you our and about together. As for the characters and the photos, I lived in Las Vegas for 17 years (up until 2019) and the ones on the Strip and Downtown were $5 or $10. $20??? Yeah, you're right, he was hustling you. And it was so good to see you got a shot of the Magic Castle. My dad was able to get our family in there one time when I was really young (so late 60's, early 70's). Thanks for the FUN VID!!!!!

It's a tip. Those performers are notorious for being aggressive. 5 dollars is perfectly fine. Especially for their costumes. Not exactly doppelgangers.
The GIV painted a small part of the Hollywood sign a few months ago. He also did a 3 a.m. tour of Rodeo Drive a few months back too.

1 to $5 is the norm. The overweight Spirit Halloween costumed characters deserved a $1 at most. Madame Tussauds sometimes has a wax celeb in front where you pose for free. A good place to view the Hollywood sign by car is at 3100 Canyon Lake Drive just past Lake Hollywood Park.

I live in Los Angeles and these tours lie about who lives in these houses. I live in the hills and one time a tour bus drove by my house and said Selena Gomez lived in my house. It was obviously a lie 😂
Doing the beginning of the beginning of the video, you guys were on Hollywood boulevard and I've been there and it's a fun place to be, that is somewhat, the equivalent to harajuku in Japan.

The Dr.Suess house was not owned by the legendary author, but in the late 1970's, Don and Sandy Oneill decided to remodel the property.
Photo costs should be zero unless their character or look really resonates with you. Going to a con is waaay cheaper and waaay better quality costumes for the most part. Having said that, the Hollywood cosplayers are a gitchy part of the Hollywood Boulevard experience so consider it part of the paid portion of the walking experience and you'll sleep better.

Deronda Drive is a good view of the Hollywood sign, but it's way up there!! Lots of winding streets.
