    Honestly (and I’m fair Fair from an expert) you could see Caviar wasn’t 100% before the race. Behind the barriers I remember saying to my dad “she just doesn’t seem to be moving as freely as usual I think she’s vulnerable” not saying she was injured before she even jumped but she clearly wasn’t a happy horse. The only time she ever had a race was 1) when she was literally injured in the run and still won & 2) Hay List was at his best and was able to push her. That’s the most underrated sprinter - Hay List

    Many Jockeys who ride in Britain for the first time have said, they underestimates the style of British racing. Luke Nolan was no different on Black Caviar at Royal Ascot. No one was questioning the capabilities of Black Caviar when Media were questioning Nolan and Moody about the ride, as we all know here in Britain its genuine mistake that happens and no one was criticising Nolan. Afterall at the end of the day he won. British public were just excited and thrilled. The Media were just expecting Nolan talking us through that exciting experience. Nolan was so annoyed at the questions and very defensive of himself and Black Caviar at first, saying we got the job done and you should not criticise Caviars performance etc.
    After Nolan had the time to calm down and relax, he said British racing is different than he expected and he thought he left the rest of cavalry way behind and didn't realize there was a group charging in behind.
    We respect genuine sportsmanship here. I remember watching this race live on tv jumping off my couch with so much anxious excitement even though i didn't have a punt. Because of that mistake of Nolan, it made this exciting race even more exciting. This is one memorable race that will talked about through decades. This shows you can have those down phases and greatness can come out of it. So it was a very wise decision by World Horse Racing to choose this particular race of Black Caviar for this clip.

      Don't mean to be awkward here but the best you had to offer is black caviar who only just won from moonlight cloud, who in all honesty wasnt a very good horse he was soundly beaten a couple of times by Nathaniel who was hammered 4 times by Frankel... I mean come on 24/24 we expected caviar to demolish that field

    • @bgardiner3354
      @bgardiner3354 Před 4 lety

      scouserdan3 it is a bit awkward really because Black Caviar ran 16lbs below her season average in the DJ after 9 races in 9 months plus travel etc. and injured as a result of the race. Those with questionable racing faculty will not be able to appreciate the clearly visible form lines through Soul, Ortensia, Star Witness et al that demonstrate just what a phenomenon she was. All that aside she still cling on to beat a 5 x G1 Cartier HOTY. The horse that won the Lightning Stakes at her next start would have streeted this field on the bridle.

    • @scouserdan3
      @scouserdan3 Před 4 lety

      @@bgardiner3354 I'm not saying she wasnt talented any horse 25-0 is supremely talented, what I am questioning the fact that she stayed inside her native country most of her career beating the same horses, the one time she ventured out she was almost beaten, whereas the likes of enable who won in France twice, America beating everyone possible, and highland reel who won grade 1s in 4 different continents... I say that contradictingly because I'm a massive Frankel fan and he only won in England but he beat EVERYTHING even the French superstar cirus des aigles with consummate ease... look at winx you can hardly call her a superstar because she beat happy Clapper 28 times 🤣🤣

    • @bgardiner3354
      @bgardiner3354 Před 4 lety +1

      scouserdan3 I know you are probably repeating something that someone else wrote but rest assured they were wrong too. Frankel raced in the A grade of world middle distance racing. Aside from the Arc taking him anywhere else only would have tested his ability to overcome the tyranny of distance. Likewise with Black Caviar she had run her grand final with her demolition (again) of Hay List in the TJ Smith. Royal Ascot was a. An afterthought and b. A B grade competition. Since the IFHA commenced world ratings in 2008 all bar 2017 and 2019 saw Australian-bred sprinters top or equal top of the rankings. And if you roll back a few more years than that when Choisir, Silent Witness, Takeover Target, Miss Andretti, Starspangledbanner et al were the best dominated world sprint rankings the trend is even more significant. Black Caviar travelled to race in a B grade comp where much lesser animals had taken significant prizes previously. Her racing at Royal Ascot was about promoting the brand and nothing more. Denying her credentials is either ignorant or intellectually dishonest. Winx is a different proposition because she was racing in a B grade competition. It’s typical for ppl who don’t know racing to downplay the merits of horses like Hartnell, Happy Clapper, Benbatl and Highland Reel because on peak performances they were up to G1 standard anywhere. But I wouldn’t disagree that Winx should have travelled. There is just too much money here at home to warrant the effort and the risk. Fortunately the IFHA knows what they’re doing because they still have Winx 4lbs ahead to Enable on peak performances.
