eh a bit over rated of an engine. hell even a BMW 3 liter can hold 80% as much top end power as a 2JZ, and can beat the 2JZ on the low end, but neither is great tbh. small engine, big single turbo = Bad launch and no low end power especially on a 2jZ, less so on a N54 but the N54 is slightly weaker so it can't be pushed passed 1000h, but I say go bigger, the 2jz is over rated, not bad but over rated

I'd still take a Supra over a Tesla. Even a stock Supra. I'm just not into electric cars, I feel like I'd think it's cool at first but get bored of it after a day or two. Hearing the 2JZ, the turbo spool and blow off, hearing more than just tire noise and a small hum of the electricity. The Supra is more dramatic, it slams you back in your seat giving you just a second to breath in between each gear change, then back to slamming you back in your seat and screaming your lungs out.
The advantage of electric is 1 gear and faster to its top speed. No loss of power between gears. Bad part of electric are those batteries won't last that long, also going the distance sucks. Then there's finding a mechanic to fix it, that's going to be pricey.

Clorex Bleach yeah I see that with alot of cars pushing that kind of power, saw a drag race between a gt 500 and a GTO with a supercharged LS2 and the GTO could not get traction it totally overpowered the gt500 but always broke the wheels loose. The tesla has the advantage of AWD and its heavy as shit so getting traction is not a problem, the reason why I think its weight is an advantage is because of its 100% torque "heavy vehicle and no torque curve= traction no slip.
Supra driver doesn't know how to launch.... Electric cars have instant torque of course but the centuries of R&D in combustion engines will always guarantee that the cars using that powertrain will be faster... The future of transportation is coming of course, and as the years pass, they'll become faster and more efficient, which is a normal and logical fact. I still prefer sound and flames of course :)

I don't think Tesla engineers will ever do that. The car is already quicker to 120mph than just about every other production car on the planet. The extra weight, cost and complexity? Wait for the 2019 2-seater carbon fiber Roadster. The performance version should have essentially the same battery pack and drive train as the Model "S" but weight about 1200 lbs. less. As the rpm's increase, the greater the back-emf reducing the current more and more meaning less and less torque. Only way to get around that is to keep upping the voltage to increase the current (meaning more power from batteries) or use a transmission.

Clorex Bleach yeah I see that with alot of cars pushing that kind of power, saw a drag race between a gt 500 and a GTO with a supercharged LS2 and the GTO could not get traction it totally overpowered the gt500 but always broke the wheels loose. The tesla has the advantage of AWD and its heavy as shit so getting traction is not a problem, the reason why I think its weight is an advantage is because of its 100% torque "heavy vehicle and no torque curve= traction no slip.

I'll admit, acceleration is probably the only thing the Tesla brings to the table performance wise, but you can drive it home without worrying about any mechanical problems.

I don't think Tesla engineers will ever do that. The car is already quicker to 120mph than just about every other production car on the planet. The extra weight, cost and complexity? Why when you don't need it. How many times do normal drivers have need to go over 120mph in this country? Its a 5000 lb. seven passenger luxury car for Gods sake. Wait for the 2019 2-seater carbon fiber Roadster. The performance version should have essentially the same battery pack and drive train as the Model "S" but weight about 1200 lbs. less. I figure it should easily do high 9's.
i agree , when do people in the USA ever go over 120mph ? in my state if you were busted at 120 say goodbye to your DL , anything 25mph over the posted limit they pull ur DL on the spot . may be a different story on the autobahn but we are not taking our cars on a boat to drive them there.

@@davidzamora212 I still think the supra would win from 50mph. From a dead stop ofcourse the tesla wins. However at speed, there's a limiting factor with electric motors unless there geared. As the rpm's increase, the greater the back-emf reducing the current more and more meaning less and less torque. Only way to get around that is to keep upping the voltage to increase the current (meaning more power from batteries) or use a transmission.

petercivic but remember, this is a 1k hp supra. For a daily drive, to me its better with the tesla. If you ever ride in one of those, you will get what i mean. Those low end torque is just not there. Takes some time for the boost to build. Other way around, drop a gear and get terrible fuel consumption imo
