      Yes, you are right it would have. Unfortunately for me, I can't just swap out colours on an assessed soap, but the yellow would be cool.

    Living on the edge you naughty lady 😂😂😂 that one made me giggle!! Can I just say that you are the best teacher! You are very thorough and you’re very clear and concise with your directions and also the explanation of why we’re doing what we’re doing ....though sadly other tutorials aren’t as thorough and I feel that it can lead to a lot of confusion when things go wrong. As always thank you so much for not only sharing your knowledge but taking the time to do so. Hope all is well my friend! XOXO

      Thank you so much Amber, such a lovely comment. I'm a real believer in that you have to understand something before you can truly do it, so to me the why is always important. With the 'why' you can then take that knowledge and use it in different ways, without it you can maybe do the thing you're shown, but then that's it and you're stuck if anything is slightly different.

      Oh don't worry that's very unlikely, as I said in the video I did actually get my scale out and then thought, you actually don't need to weight this, the jugs are identical and you are splitting them evenly, also I thought it would surprise people, but you can bet if they weren't I would have weighed it :-)

      Thank you so much Barbara, I'm so thrilled you like the little tips. The 3d thinking is weird, I was sort of able to train my brain a bit to work out how to get what I want in soap, I remember when I did my Scream it was so hard to work out how to get things to come out as I wanted, but then it gets easier and luckily I can do it pretty well now :-)

    • @guelle01
      @guelle01 Před 4 lety

      I Dream In Soap your Scream gave me so much motivation and encouragement. I make picture soaps and that one little idea of yours to have the picture on each side of the mold solved so many problems for me. I studied that scream video. Still best soap on the internet.

    Thanks Lisa, great teaching. I just realised that I love the way you start pouring at normal speed. When I have watch some soap videos when I first started soaping they went at warped speed and I felt that was the speed to do it and ended up anxious now I just take my time and relax. Cheers happy soaping.

    • @IDreamInSoap
      @IDreamInSoap  Před 4 lety

      Thanks Christine, I think it's a tricky balance sometime to not bore people with a long pour but still show enough, but yes I like to at least show the actual speed to give the right idea, the you can always speed it up later, or cut a bit of the repetition out, which is what I did for the Black Gold side.

    Do the solid oils not harden back up when master batching them? Your tip on the little stick for adding fragrance oils is GOLD! I've wasted so much because of not knowing how to do other than pour. I absolutely love you channel and am so thankful to have happened upon it as a new soap maker! • @IDreamInSoap
      @IDreamInSoap  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Heather, the masterbatch oils will not harden completely as you will have soft oils in there, they will thicken a bit but you should still be a ble to just stir them up and pour off whet you need then heat slightly

  • @davehanakitson1335
    @davehanakitson1335 Před rokem

    Hi Lisa, I found this super helpful, thanks. When I made a similar soap I poured at very light trace and thought it would get thicker as I added the TD soap. However the TD soap was only marginally thicker than coloured which surprised me as usually find TD thickens batter up slightly. My trace remained super fluid throughout to the point it took so long I couldn’t wait to texture top before CPOP as needed to do school run 😂 I have a batter which is 50% hard oils and use a 300mls liquid to 1000g oils. I use emulsified TD as per your video and defo had emulsification before splitting for colours (waited 1 min before splitting to double check). The humidity was wild at 95% and it was 26 degrees in my kitchen. After CPOP soap still very soft. I used goat’s milk which had a high amount of fat in for liquid portion…. So after that mammoth account…. What went wrong? Or is it just soap’s reaction to global warming?! Thank you, Hana

    • @IDreamInSoap
      @IDreamInSoap  Před 11 měsíci

      Hi Hana. Sorry for the delay in replying
      It's hard to know from your description what was going on as the way you explain it doesn't allow for any problems as you describe a process that doesn't really have errors. I would initially think that perhaps your batter wasn't fully emulsified, but you say that you're sure it was. It could have been your fragrance. Maybe one that decelerate trace. If it all set up and cut OK, then no issues. Have a look at the face of the bars. If there's an odd texture that looks a bit like Soda Ash, then that would be that your soap wasn't fully emulsified

    • @IDreamInSoap
      @IDreamInSoap  Před 4 lety

      Hey Oksana, thanks a lot. The difficulty with a video on recipes is that it's very difficult to add any visuals to it. I would hate to just sit there and talk through the properties of oils as there are lots of resources where people can just go and read about them. To make little sample batches would be very difficult as I'd have to make so many using so many different recipes and then still just have to do a lather test or something at the end which would be unsatisfactory as I wouldn't be able to convey conditioning and other qualities. I'm just not sure how I could really do it as a video to add more value that the articles already around.

    Thank you so much for your amazing videos. I am grateful to have found your channel. I have been researching for months and hesitant to purchase the materials. Watching your videos helped me to be more confident so I purchased my first mold! I have couple of questions though.
    Do you put all your soaps to the oven at 170Fah? I haven’t seen any other videos doing this, so I am not sure if you do it specifically for this type of soap. Do you cover them with a cloth before putting them in the oven or after you take them out of the oven?

    • @IDreamInSoap
      @IDreamInSoap  Před 4 lety

      Hi Ilayda, thank you so much for your lovely comment. Quite a lot of people do put their soaps in the oven, the method is known as CPOP, cold process oven process.
      I like all my soaps to go through gel phase, and because I do a water discount it makes it harder for your soap to do this. Less water = soap stays cooler and less likely to gel. You say you're new, so I'm not sure how familiar with 'gel' and water discounts etc. I have a video that explains all of that, not sure if you've seen it czcams.com/video/EjqYYGaGVvw/video.html.
      I set my oven to preheat to 170F. I always cover my soap, with a lid and / film, to cut down the air that gets to it as this then minimises soda ash. I turn the oven off as soon as the soap goes in and leave it in there until the next day. Hope this helps, best wishes. Lisa
