Dude, have you ever seen "Titanic"? You know, Kate Winslet and Leo di Caprio flying off into the sunset before that pesky iceberg hit the ship? Everybody's talking about Celine Dion and "The Heart Goes On", the big hit from that movie. But Celine only sang during the credits. The voice you hear on the soundtrack throughout the movie? Sissel. ;-)
This track, "Shenandoah", is an old American folk song of "unknown origin". It's one of the more boring ones, tbh. Sissel's another child prodigy from Norway, just like Aurora and Angelina Jordan, except Sissel is 50 and has been around for decades. She's sang with Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo (two of the most famous tenors of the world), had a monster hit with Warren G & The Rapsody, was personally invited to perform at the annual "Royal Variety" in London by Prince Charles, performed the Olympic Hymn and the official Olympic song at the 1994 Winter Games in Norway, with the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, done "The Prayer" with Josh Groban, delivered an amazing Maria von Trapp in the Sound of Music, and she'll make you weep like a child with her crystal clear rendition of "Pie Jesu". Just to give you a quick overview of her versatility.

Sissel always puts strong passion in every song as she sings. A voice trainer started to cry when she heard Sissel for the first time. Her opera sings are never screeching. Her voice is the most beautiful bel canto I have ever heard.

this is exactly how an Angel sounds . Sissel's voice plays the heartstrings of the human soul . it has a magic that an infant hears in it's Mother's voice . it is a sacred sound , not just this song but try "Going Home" . first time I heard it I was thinking that this is the voice that calls you to heaven . Precious is an understatement .

Sure, there are technically more brilliant voices (in the opera world) than Sissel's. But if I was to finish my life alone on a desert island, hers is the voice I would choose to have with me because I need to hear love balanced with brilliance and she has it in plenty.

The solo violinist is Kalle Moraeus. One of the most well-known folk music (and classical) violinists of Sweden. The Moraeus family is musical family from the province of Dalarna and Kalle's brother Per-Erik Moraues has written the song Koppången, a song Sissel often sings at her concerts (i have seen her Christmas Concert, where she use to sing this song, several times in my home town Gothenburg, Sweden). In the following video Kalle Moraeus plays it to crown princess Victoria at her birthday: czcams.com/video/0M5LJrcjcP4/video.html

Please react to Sissel’s “Wait Awhile” (John Lord of Deep Purple wrote) performance for Norwegian Constitution Day. The Norwegian Crown Prince is in audiance He is a big fan. She is wearing national dress a bunard. BTW she was knighted at the age 37. At the time she was the youngest ever to receive the honor. There are many performances that are worthy of your reaction. She is truly a Norwegian Gem. Her guest appearances with the Morman Tabernacle Choir are incredible. Especially “Slow Down” Her recent project “Reflections” contains 51 songs. She released one per week starting in 2019. She started the project the year she turned 50 as a gift to her husband. However it is a wonderful gift to the universe. Viking TV featured each weeks recording along with a talk video explaining the songs relevance. She did a lot of research. Love songs and crooning style showing respect for familar songs and melodies of the past. Soon she will be releasing some songs she has written. She loves nature and it is often woven in the songs she selects. (Northern Lights Album) PLEASE CONTINUE reacting to her videos. She has sung in 18 langages. Her “Sukiyaki“ is sweet. The world so needs to hear what a truly beautiful voice sounds like. She is a modest artist, not a diva. She deserves the honor of your attention. She just loves to sing and wants to do it forever. Such a gift to the listeners. Thank you.

The band playing along side her is most likely The Chieftans ( I know that is Paddy Malone on the flute). They are the "unofficial band" of Ireland. I have both Sissel and several Chieiftans albums and listen to them when I need to chill out of life. This song although amazing does nothing to really show her range and depth of clarity in her voice. There are so many that she has done over the decades that prove to me she is the best soprano voice on the planet.

"Cross the wide Missouri" is the Missouri River. "Shennendoah" was the Chief of the Onieda people.. and the fur trader who wrote the song was in love with Shennendoah's daughter. But was bound to the traveling required by his work.

You need to hear Sissel when in the States last year. She sang with the MormonTabernacle Choir in Utah! New song brought tears!!!! Name of song is called Slow Down. The man playing whistle is Patty Malone and is about 80 now. She no longer sings with her. This is written July 23, 2020. Last name is So-Cher-Ber! Check her out now!!!!

Paddy Moloney is 83 and a shrewd judge of talent having it himself. He spotted a winner in Sissel and she toured with the Chieftains (see CZcams videos of the same) Sissel sang in decent Irish Gaelic so I suspect she was coached by Paddy who is a fluent speaker of it.

My absolute favorite is “pie Jesu” she really shows her unique voice. And you have heard her before I think - if you have heard the singing without words in Titanic- yes that is her. The song was written for her, but they wanted a famous singer.....so they comprise. czcams.com/video/otHPPBVtjJg/video.html

She is the equivalent of Celine to the point where both played the Olympics as their breakout - big time singer! Betcha didn't know she won Eurovision too. She got turned off the entreaties of LA and returned home to do things at a very low key level - no crowds over 1000 as far as I can tell. The only reason she didn't get The Heart Goes On is that nobody knew of her and they wanted a big name. Celine kissed off David Foster to sing that song! She has a fabulous repertoire both classical and contemporary - her version of The gift of Love is outstanding! Her recent outdoor concerts and Reflections album should make you an avid fan. Others in her league include Jane Zhang (Argentina, All of Me), Helena Fisher (Halleluja @Hofburg in Wien), John McDermott (Greenfields of France, Waltzing Matilda) and Andrea Bocelli (Misere with David Zuchero). Yes, she has sung with him too. Happy listening.

The 16 year old Sissel didn't win the 86 Eurovision. She sang the interval and our Terry Wogan compering for BBC TV, was the first UK person to hear her voice and he said "she is the most beautiful, beautiful singer" and was heard to say she should win it. But she wasn't a county's entry. He was joking at that point.

I thought she did a wonderful job with this song, and as you said, she has the voice of an angel. That said, I'm not real fond of other versions of songs she does. For instance, she does "When A Man Loves A Woman" (on the same outside stage that Angelina has sung on many time) and I didn't care for the style, or should I say her version, at all. Her version of "You Raise Me Up" is well done, as is "Bridge Over Troubled Water".
