A call came in that a beat up puppy needed help. The caller was too scared to get close to the dog to tell us any more information.
As we pulled up, there sat a puppy by the street on a discarded mattress wearing a cone.
We approached this little shaking puppy, and that's when we saw all the blood. This poor baby needs emergency medical care! We rushed her to our clinic where they conducted a blood test. When the results popped up, we were able to sedate and clean her wounds. We're shocked how similar they are to Poppy Seed's, although this dog was attacked by a much bigger dog. Vital organs were just missed, so she has a chance. We named her Laelynn, which means "Flower of Hope."

I am a veterinarian technician, and I can't tell you how many times animals come in with outrageous injuries and they are still wagging their tails. We humans will never deserve animals.

Someone so astutely pointed out to me that dogs can live without people but people cannot live without dogs. These type stories are heart wrenching. It’s difficult but I try and focus on the good that folks do with animals, such as the rescuers here. Send healing thoughts and gratitude to the vet team as well. We humans don’t deserve any animals really. But we’ve got them and should be their welcome to earth ambassadors. They’re all about love which we humans forget until we cuddle them. Right? ❤🐶

Not even crying, with that horrendous injury. She is a sweet soul.
I'd say she was in shock from all that blood loss. The pain, swelling, injuries would have been making sure she was spending all her energy fighting for her life.
I'm lost for words at how brave this dear puppy is...not a whimper. God help her.....❤

It was probably attacked by another pitbull. Looks like the city has a lot of stray or unsupervised dogs, mostly of that breed.

Thank goodness this poor dog has been rescued, especially with such a dreadful injury. I hope she heals well and finds a loving home, she is so good natured considering her injury. She deserves the very best ❤

The attack had to have been before she was abandoned. That's WHY she has a cone on her head. Also, the vet said while cleaning it, the wound itself was actually older.

Some horrible person put that cone on so that dog couldn't fight back. Hopefully her life will be different now. Thank goodness for Stray Rescue.
