Didn’t recognize Boris with hair. Ha ha most enjoyable a lot of talented musicians playing perfectly such a beautiful piece.
Perfección absoluta.
Dvorak: Composer xtraordinaire;
Quintet: a la superb!
An army of generals... Clearly one of the best Dvořák Piano Quintet I've ever heard.
Thank you for uploading!
konigstephan absolutely agree, as we would say in Brazil 🇧🇷 “ So tem fera nessa banda” amazing!
The best interpretation I've heard in whole my life. It's so funny as well, Maisky is phantastic, but it's Janina and the unbelievable pianist that rules. And thanks heaven for a viola player that can play clean. God bless all of you. Mike from Sweden.
This is simply the very best performance of this spectacular Quintet ever recorded in my opinion. Each movement speaks with the composer's thoughts so clearly, and the sound - could there be a richer, more orchestral sound.
Usually the initial theme is not played so slow. It is obviously a volunteer rallentendo. But it is very wise. The very lyrism of this theme emerges from the song of the cello.- with the complicity of the piano.
the quintessence of Dvorak, the human spirit in light and shade, underlaid by an irrepressible energy
Dorak mi mas preferido. Su musica enamora !! Este quinteto. Único!!!! Un Maisky inigualable nunca. También todos los grandes q lo componen. Estoy en el cielo. VRAVISiMO!!!!!!!!!!! Estoy sin palabras q puedan expresar tanta grandeza , sensibilidad y comunicación. Gracias. Gran Maestro........
An exquisite performance by five very fine musicians manifesting Dvorak's beautiful creation.
I really liked. Passionate music. Very well played. Congratulations!
I have never heard this piece played better. Delightful music...
My dear so talented friend Poliushka and the stunning beauty Janine
The best version i have ever heard!
Dvorak, profundamente romântico.
Thank you - Antonin Dvorak, Janine Jensen, Boris Brovtsyn, Julian Rachin, Mischa Maisky and Polina Lesschenko.
You have always made my days.
and thank you to the players, a magnificent callaboration of the greatest contemporary talent and achievement- that would match or master any, of whatever era- expressing, and establishing, Dvorak, as a composer of the greatest creative brilliance and lyrical beauty
A very nice, vivid and outstanding version of this quintet for piano and strings of Dvorak which is certainly one of his best chamber music scores!
ENORME DVORAK!
Stayed up very late in love with hearing your playing of this Sparkles in the Moonlight with Chocolate Kisses! Merci Bien! From multiple surgeries in the aftermath of a stupid, selfish texting young F-250 driver, my world has nearly crashed too; but tonight, your beautiful hearts have saved my heart!!! No words to say Big Enough THANK YOU!
Beauty AND talent !!!
second movement was bliss third was totally impressive
Fabulous, the very essence of Dvorak expressed with fire and finesse, lyrical and arousing with a melody that shifts and shines, as the human spirit does, with victory
Lovely words-
thank you for giving me the opportunity to appreciate this fabulous piece of music in the privacy of my own house
dvorak produce me always great emotion but specially his cello music in this quintet like the cello concerto and others, wonderful interpretation
Bravo!
Mischa Maisky on the violoncello looks like a medieval knight, perhaps the great great great great grandfather of Albert Einstein and Frank Zappa.
I love how he played the violoncello, superb.
Or perhaps the ur-ur-ur-ur-grossvater of Frank Einpa and Al Zapstein. At any rate, the streets of Utrecht were clearly groovin' that day. Thanks for the post.
Jonathan Berman... lol, he's a hot mess, yes. On a serious note, though, he plays God awful to me (I see others like it). I never could take his consistently out of tune playing and always too intense vibrato... almost never appropriate for the piece at hand. Ugh.
Jansen sounds incredible as always!
Brilliant! I listen to other music but I always return to Dvořák!
too bad he didn't write any piano music worth playing. he's such a great orchestral and chamber music composer.
You must not be familiar with his opus 85 piano pieces!
There are very music, Brahms, Wieniaeski for listening, too it is beautiful
Music goes in one ear and out the other.
Any emotion it produces, is gone within seconds....
As opposed to?
Danke!
Thank you so much for uploading this... it’s like going through a trip to outer space.. great artists, composer and all
Amazing, sensitive, superb artistry and a joy to listen to all around. Blistering speed on the scherzo: how completely unattainable for us amateur players, but so clean and natural in your performance. Lovely! Thank you for sharing this.
The second movement stuns me.
me as well. it's like all the sorrows of the world collected in that drooping melody
Dvôrak ❤
love this piece and they do a great job, but I want to see the pianist! She's playing beautifully!
They didn't even single her out for the applause, she was incredible!
czech vivacious--very characteristic of Dvorak--melody and rhythym---
Wonderful playing! It's too bad that the cameras couldn't focus on the violist when he was playing his solos.
Que c'est beau !
Antonin Dvorak Piano Quintet No.2 The quintet is acknowledged as one of the masterpieces in the form, along with those of Schubert , Schumann , Brahms and Shostakovich .
it's my favorite of the four. such warmth and humanity
Outstanding performance (not very surprising given the class of the artists !!).
SIMPLEMENTE MARAVILLOSO !!!!!!!
This is a fabulous performance. Possibly the best I've heard of this much-played work. Julian Rachlin shows that he's every bit as good playing viola as he is playing violin, and this work needs a first class viola player as the viola is so prominent. It's such a pity that the recording is let down by terrible editing and camera positioning.
My heart wavered with emotion .
Praised be God The Creator, forever! He made beings in His image, giving such abilities, such minds!... At 41:10 there is an empty seat... the seat of a musician, born in the house of his father, also musician, professor and composer. And that son, in his fifties, discovers now this piano quintet of Dvorak. I am so ashamed for that seat is mine... I am so glad I'm still living and discovering... Thank you, Lord God! Thank you, people involved in this!
Mischa Maisky estuvo soberbio. me encantó.
What an awesome performance! Thank you for sharing!
intonation
That's music ! Great !
How gorgeous!!!!!
Merci pour le partage! C'est magnifique.
Wow, thank you for posting! ;-)
Splendida musica, interpretata con passione
Mi fa piacere! Grazie.
I've been listening to this wonderful piece for quite a while (over 50 years or so) but when listening to this recording, I keep praying for somebody to teach Dutch audiences the unwritten rule: no applause between movements, please. Very disturbing. Yet I can't give up coming back and listening to this wonderful rendition. Thank you a lot!
I like all of Dvorak's symphonic and chamber works up UNTIL the most popular ones where that curse called nationalism takes over!
Fijne uitvoering!🇧🇪
Prachtig ,netjes uitgevoerd! 👏
marvelous, Bravo!!
Great performance.
Great music!!!
Unexpectedly superb superb superb.
The best players!

30 seconds in and it get real.
👍👍👍❤❤❤
Wonderfull
Excelente
Well this soulfull and slavic music has found its soul .I also regret not seeing more of the pianist who is is really great, although the cuts on Janine tell a lot about what is at play.
jean wolas Enigmatic! What was at play? :-)
love
second movement is great
Dvorak was Czech. This is NOT Russian Rarity but its slavic idiom is so gripping.
Beethoven himself would have been pleased!
Boris looks a bit different now, still plays with Janine.
In the second movement its really too bad the videographer couldn't hear the difference between a cello and a viola. The camera is straying from the story. On the other hand its nice to see the accompaniment done by such great players.
+Bruce Huebner The camera work was clearly done automatically, on auto-pilot, without a director. Still great to have this performance available.
god that pianist.. playing ahead of the quartet at quite crucial sections
?
anyone know if they recorded this for any label? it is one of the most beautiful performances of anything I have ever heard.. amazing..
The one I have can be found on discogs:
Antonín Dvořák, Wiener Philharmonisches Streichquartett, Franz Schubert - Quintet In A Op. 81, Quartettsatz In C Minor, D.703
The first movement doesn't feel like Allegro ma non Tanto to me. But I do these players other performances, especially Souvenir de Florence and Mendelssohn Octet.
What a delight!
Janine is the Queen
