- This is the story of the creation of Kit Williams' Telford Clock, a massive public clock in the Telford shopping centre. Kit and his team who brought design concept, sign writing, mechanical engineering, musical composition, architectural and computer control skills to the making of the clock, completed the installation in 1996 when this film was made. The film has been re-edited from the original analogue to a digital file in 2022 and made available on the You Tube 'eyeplays' channel.
it's a shame to see how such a fantastic art piece has just been neglected in recent years
wow i remember when this was unveiled-beautiful piece!
Sign writer is my grand father ♥️
That would be Brian, my father built this. Your Grandfather was a lovely person.
The time machine is awesome
What amazing thought, time and craftsmanship was put into this stunning piece. I haven’t been able to visit this one yet, but have seen the one at Milton Keynes several times. When I first saw it, myself and my mum stumbled across it and were just blown away! The design, music and illusion were fantastic! It was in full working order then, with the magnificent music playing! Sadly now parts are broken and it needs some tlc (and the music turned back on!!) Thank you for uploading this fascinating documentary about some a niche but very interesting topic.
The one at milton plays a distince song
How much of the clock is still original and does it still exist in 2023?
The clock exists but doesnt work anymore, they stopped turning it on because parents with kids would let their kids run around and block the foot traffic of the shopping centre
Milton Keynes decided to copy this idea 💡🐸🕰
I believe the one in Milton Keynes was designed by Kit Williams too, (and probably much of the same team made it).

My father Andrew Beasant built both the Telford & Milton Keynes clock. Sadly he passed away in 2011
