Great information, Tim. I recently approached an organization that I want to get my art in front of about doing a raffle and they hadn't thought of it, but were very interested. This advice comes at a perfect time for me to maximize the opportunity of a raffle. Thank you!

Is it not possible to designate a minimum starting bid? Say, 70% to 90% retail value? (Just my naive first thought.)
Also, a raffle, even if too few tickes sell, at least hides the (small) total earned.

Yes you can… but it is very unlikely you will get takers at that starting bid for a charity auction.

@@timpackerfinearts Interesting! So you see them as acting initially like bargain-seekers (who would not start bidding a little below the retail value), but ones who will out-bid each other up into that neighborhood (or higher)? New information-thanks!

Why does the blue sky have no value to you?

@@timpackerfinearts why is the sky in the painting behind you "white" or some would say silver?

@@Extremestoic23678 There is a lot of subtle colour in the sky... with a gradation from darker and bluer to lighter and warmer as it approaches the sun. this is often how the sky looks... I'm actually looking out my window right now and it is the exact same kind of sky. The sky is not always blue, In fact it can be any colour under the rainbow.
