日本人です。言語のルール的にはおおむねその理解でよいと思いますが、この曲の場合実際にはあまり性別を意識して歌われてはいません。あえて性別を厳密に区別しないで英語の「I」ぐらいの認識で済ませた方が、歌詞全体の意味合いが歪まないでよいと思います。
