If I’m not mistaken, otters are a co-parenting species. Otsuyu apparently views mama-San as a co-parent. What an honor! It would be interesting to see if that favor extends to the baby’s father Oage. I’m learning so much about otter/human interactions. Thanks for posting!🤩🥰
Indeed. Odashi co-parented with Otsuyu over Namida and Wasabi. Looks like that behavior is not only limited to their own species as long as enough trust is given and nurtured.

@@nyanzarojas8776 Ask Loutre-mama. Those of us who have read up on this otter species and its behavior are beside ourselves about that. We KNOW Loutre-mama does her research yet she ignores it. One guy who knows a lot but thinks he knows more than he does believes Oage doesn't recognize Wasabi & Namida as his kids (meaning he might try to **** them). I said we can't know that until/unless Oage tries something.
Which, by the way, Oage would not even think about if he was allowed to be with his current mate Otsuyu.
One thing Mr Know-It-All IS right about is Wasabi & Namida have zero bond with their dad. Compare to Otter Dolce in Daegu (Korea) who is _very_ close to his daughter Mocha. _He_ taught her to swim and disciplined her when she was rowdy to her mother Latte. Oage has the potential to be a good father if allowed. But no, Loutre-mama constantly badmouths him even as she treats him well at the cafe. If you look at LOUTRE's history, Oage has a history of being screwed over -- his beloved first mate disappeared, his second mate now hates him, and his third (Otsuyu) gets taken away from him for months on-end every time they do the do.
Anyway, this same guy also keeps going on and on about these very social otters having an "alpha" pair. Nothing I've read on Small-Claws has ever said anything about that, and the biologist who came up with the "alpha" concept for wolves debunked it after more study and demanded (but failed to get) his old book pulled.
Everyone who's watched this channel for a long time (i.e. pre-WasaMida) knows Odashi is Loutre-mama's favorite and always has been. I was sad when the O-Twins had their fight but I thought it was best they were apart. Now Otsuyu has another pup and Loutre-mama is favoring Odashi AGAIN instead of bringing in Oage to do his job. Odashi has a very pushy personality and tried to steal Otsuyu's mothering role from her. She saw WasaMida as her own even though they're not (sort of since I believe the O-Twins are identical while WasaMida are fraternal).
Sorry for the essay. It's just Loutre-mama's actions in the face of all pro-research drive me f-ing nuts.
@@Soufriere84 I don’t know much about otters but if what you said is absolutely correct I hope someone reaches Loutre-mama and tells her what she’s doing wrong.
River otters might be Co-parenters, but I know Sea Otters are not.

Tororo is the best little bean ever!
I like that Tororo can sense her grandma when Otsuyu is out. Tororo seems relaxed when you cradle him in your hands.
Tororo is absolutely cute and mommy leaves him with you to babysit because she trusts you. 🤗❤️

I was watching older videos from Otsuyu’s first birth of twins. I didn’t know Odashi was such a huge part of their upbringing. Odashi helped care for her sisters twins like they were her own. I’m certain that Odashi wants to meet and love Tororo.
Tororo might be small now but I can't help but feel that he's going to get enormous.
If he's anything like his older sisters -- who both take after their bigger-than-average father Oage -- I'd bet on it. 😁

Tororo is so cute and he is going to grow into a very handsome otter. I also love how his mom has you take care of him while she is busy swimming or doing whatever else she does when away from her little precious Tororo. Otsuyu should be proud when prancing around showing off her precious little Tororo. I still hope the sisters eventually make up and hug and I believe they will very soon. I am glad Odashi and Otsuyu are getting along better! Odashi is probably very wary of coming too close to Tororo just in case Otsuyu doesn't like it, but I am sure she is curious about him. I really hope Oage gets to meet his son soon! Then he can start co-parenting too :)

Loutre-mama has been caring for Otsuyu since before her eyes opened -- she _is_ the O-Twins' mom for all intents and purposes. Otsuyu trusts her "mother" completely. Given how neurotic Otsuyu is, that's a very good thing.
