    Great video! I just planted my cornflowers directly outside from seed I collected 3 years ago. I probably should have started them in a tray like you did. So far, only two have popped up but I am hoping for more! They are beautiful flowers and they start blooming in June here.

    • @GardeningWise
      @GardeningWise  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes it can help as the moisture will be retained in and you wont have to water often. But I normally do not cover as we live in a cold humid climate and the soil doesn't dry out quickly.

    Hello! I have planted corn flower seeds last Nov.16, 2020 and it's Friday now, Nov.20. They haven't germinated yet beautiful it's only been 4 days. My question is, do I have to water them every day and should I place them in sunlight? Thank you so much. This is my last attempt in planting.

    • @GardeningWise
      @GardeningWise  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello Philip, No need to water every as the stays normally moist during winter. Just keep an eye on. Check the soil with your finger, if it feels dry then you can lightly spray the surface. Once they germinate, then provide them 6-8 hours of sunlight or grow light.
      Wish you best luck!

    Hi, do the seeds need to be pre-chilled/(cold stratification) before sow?

    • @GardeningWise
      @GardeningWise  Před 3 lety +1

      No they are very easy to germinate. No need for stratification but they will germinate better at cooler temperatures like in spring or fall. Plants are cold hardy so they can survive light frost.
      Thanks for watching.
