Here's the second solo from Allen Collins from Free Bird. This is the most different of the four and has a distinctly different tone from the others. None of this solo made it to the final mix.
That one idiot that disliked can go straight to hell on the shitwagon they rolled in on. Allen Collins is the greatest guitarist to have ever lived. Rest in peace Allen, I know heaven is rocking out with you there and I can't wait to get to that show.
This makes the version Medlocke plays live make so much more sense! Still wish he played something a little more closer but I respect what he does a lot more now
Neck pickup? Some great variations. YOu can hear him play himself into a corner and get out a few times, I can see why this one wasn't used, but it shows another side of this epic lead
@@spicy321 Hi there, do you mind trying to at least send me your DAW project file that you basically used to make this version of the song to me through email, because It's very, Very difficult for me to mix the exact same bass sound like you did in this version of free bird including the Rhythm Guitars?
Phaser. I think Allen did use an MXR 90 at one point. Gary was the real phaser guy since he used it on Call Me The Breeze (both studio and live), Gimme Three Steps (live), and I believe on Free Bird (both the intro and the rhythm under the solo) as well as few others I believe
Freebirds fly , love them Skynyrd boys...

It's nice that they kept these tracks!!!!!
I love how its still Allen despite the different pickup, settings, take, or whatever.
3:39 sound like scoobadeewah level goof up lol
Amazing track!
i like it

+JC Dwyer Well put.
Fore sure its a subtle phaser
What effect did you use in this version of the song on the bass and rhythm guitars? Also what settings of the effect did you use on those instruments?
Only solo 1 and 2 are available
Wish i could compare them all
Allways wondered how this track was mixed in that pre Bob clearmountan Era
Bertje Tolberg Check the youtube channel that uploaded this. Every single solo is available.
Sounds like a strat in the 4 position with a phaser on slowest setting imo.
How did you find these?!
I found it online searching for multitracks.

When was this recorded???
1973. It's an alternate solo track on the 16 track master.
@@spicy321 so awesome. More Allen!!!!!
And what Happened to #1? I can't find it!!!!:((
What's the 16 track master?
Can you send me the Bass track from this song you have in you project file for this video?
I think I may be hearing a wah, or maybe he rolled the tone knob back a bit. No idea.
+gtamodman122 I think it's either a wah or a phaser
+gtamodman122 It's a Phaser. If you're using a Wah, even if your subtile, the difference between the notes sounding muddy or trebly would be greater
+Mário França Can confirm, I did a little experimentation with effects today and am fairly sure that this in fact is a phaser.
+gtamodman122 Could it have been through a leslie cabinet?
