I came in 2nd place in the doubles competition 2 years in a row 1985 &86. Lots of work, lots of fun! We were allowed only 1 move we would not do in a classroom. Would do it all over again if I were younger! These athletes truly are athletes nothing less!!!
Felt like I was watching a dance competition, not aerobics, both high need to be in fit, but aerobics was more physical fitness based and little bit of dance but more exercise involved, not technical dance and gymnastics moves.
I thought the same as the years go on. The 80s just looked so bouncy and knackering. Just high kicks and jumps after each other. The dance moves slow down the pace.

This show went from an aerobic competition to dance competition. high kicks are one thing but splits and tour jetes are dance moves, plain and simple.
vistaprime I think it's somehow mostly a mixture of dance and gymnastics at this level.

Anyhow, the music is crap. I blame Reebok. The music was lit when it was Crystal Light.
They still happen today. Aerobics is part of the FIG, which oversees Acrobatics, Rhythmic & Artistic Gymnastics, etc.
