Hiked up there eons ago, as I recall we hiked up the creek to the main ruins. I remember its a lovely, shaded trail along the creek. And there were other trails up into the hills.

Really enjoy these videos, Bethany and Drew, but would enjoy them even more if they were longer and more frequent. Although you weren't specific about it, the impression given is that a wildfire created these ruins, as opposed to individual fires at different times.

Bathroom is correct. 3:58 Beth's right foot is next to the toilet rough-in and the tub enclosure would be where the large rectangular outline is. Malibu is proof that just because you're rich doesn't mean you're smart: it's either burning to the ground or sliding into the ocean. What a great place to spend $8M on a house!

I like when you said at the end that if you visit this place to keep it cleaner than you found it. I constantly find trash on hiking trails and I pack it out with me. It’s so very uncool for people to leave their trash behind.

Great video! I loved in Agoura and dated a guy who's grandmother was born and raised on an olive farm in Malibu. Her maiden name was Cavelleri (the road she lived on until she passed away). Unfortunately the home burned down in the fires last year.

Malibu is awesome! Definitely a lot more than meets the eye in that area. We need to go on a hike together in the future! Although, how are you surviving the heat wave?

I was in a summer program called SAMO Youth (we work along side the National Park Service) and we did trail work for four days at Solstice Canyon! It’s so exciting seeing that you two went to go explore the place!

Yes, the location was at Bob Morris's Paradise Cove. Just east of Solstice Canyon is Dan Blocker Beach and his character was Hoss Cartwright in the TV show Bonanza. Los Angeles Loves Oddity Odysseys.

Oh how i miss the canyon.
Hi, My company had a construction yard in Solstice Cyn. From 1975 to around 1990. I built the Castle in 1977 that sat above the Malibu Civic Center before the fire took it down.
I knew Jim Roberts and his beautiful wife, they invited me to go out on their yacht but I didn't go because I didn't know them that good and figured it was probably the booz talking if you know what I mean. I forgot the name of his wife but she used to double for Marilyn Monroe and looked exactly like her. Jim is the son of Fred Roberts the original owner. Jim Roberts rented out the property to me (about two acres of the prime flat area with the creek running along side of it.) Back then there was about 30 head of cattle that used to hang out where my yard was. I knew the Fred Roberts grand daughters a little bit, they were Jim's nieces. They use to hang out at the property, either they told me or Jim told me many interesting stories of exotic animals and old time movie stars like Abbott & Costello that hung out on the property. There has been a couple of fires that came through Solstice Canyon while I was there, one burned down the original barn of Fred Roberts and burned a section of the original house. Jim showed me pictures of a party they had at the house, pool area and the out door kitchen ( by the huge granite boulders) in the heyday with a bunch of well known movie people. The last Malibu fire I barely got my equipment out when I moved out. I then moved my yard by the restaurant's property at PCH, just East Corral Cyn.
I always enjoy going there with the two of you.
Good episode with the guitar playing in the background. I found it very relaxing. The waterfall is gorgeous as is the surrounding area. You can imagine how the homeowners enjoyed it! Thanks for another good one, and keep up the good work.

Years ago when I lived in Pasadena I used to galavant endlessly looking at building structures .. Paul Williams designed a house that is mistakenly called the Batman house, you can see the back of it from the Colorado Bridge.... perhaps you’ve covered it already.... I’m not suggesting you do just mentioning it ...
What would really be interesting is if you could highlight the areas in Southern California that were called the “ black beaches “ that were created during the days of segregation because black folks couldn’t go to the beaches white folks went to, CA was just as racist as the Southern states... I will find the link to the history of the segregated beaches in CA.... I no longer live in CA but would like to see those areas... again thanks to both of you....

If you stand straight in front of the house there is a walk way to the right it’s closed to the public but it’s a long trail full of wonder I made it all the way and found a area where it’s all solid soft rock something out of this world

3:21 Did you know you were standing in the pool? :) The first time I went there, I didn't notice until later when I was looking at the photos I'd taken.
If you are visiting the trails and ruins in the Los Angeles region.. Please do one thing for the environment.. Whatever you take in please take you're trash out as well... It will ensure everyone gets to enjoy a place without it looking like a trash dump later for others visiting the site..

@@OddityOdysseys They enjoyed the ruins and waterfall. Instead of heading back the same way to the parking lot, we took the trail that goes up the Malibu Mountains and got a clear view from the top. I think that view impressed them more haha
That's great! When we went to Solstice before shooting the episode, we took the trail you spoke of back as well. Awesome views from up there.
