One of only a hand full of youtube reviewers for grownups. No spastic distracting hand waving. Good job sir.
I like this review. I didn't sense any exaggeration or hype. Very objective, to the point, and highlights the subjectivity inherent in speaker preferences based on musical taste.
I also have the A130, do you think the Studio 620/630 would be a worthy upgrade given the price difference (A130 is $200 in my country, 620/630 is around $500-$700 here)
Yes definitely 👍
I think there are even bigger speakers in the stage series. I wonder how those will sound
Right sir...I had the same Q....??
Hope they will be mosterous
Excellent review. Keep up the good work. Thanks!
Just confirmed my thoughts that this speaker was not for me. Excellent review with comparisons, interior shots and pros and cons. Kudos for honest review which is a rarity.
JBL has been selling A130 with incorrect alignment. The "correct" polarity is wrong. Mismatched polarity both left and right reveals A130 to be a marvel of engineering with mind bending imaging, texture. Gone are recessed vocals and the mid bass boom.
A130 are an engineering and architectural triumph. They have stunning imaging and resolution, however, JBL has been selling A130 with incorrect alignment. The "correct" polarity is wrong. With alignment restored you will enjoy mind bending imaging, texture. Gone are recessed vocals and the mid bass boom. They sound decent as sold and the error would go unnoticed. With alignment restored however they are astonishing. Mine were purchased in 2023 direct from JBL. My discovery is the result of crappy sounding bass when using the tone dial on my RX-V1900.
Perfectly done! Thanks for this review.
Like JBL always boosting that their monitor speakers are used in most recording studios, movie theaters and concert stadiums. JBL aims for a live like sound. The only downside is fatigue for daily use.
Thank you for another wonderful review. I own these and the Elac B6.2’s and I agree with your assessment. If like you said “tone down” the highs a little bit. They become, in my experience very balanced. I’m personally big on EQ. It takes quite awhile to get right but it’s well worth the time and effort.
which do you prefer in clarity overall? the 6.2 or the jbl?
which do you prefer in clarity overall? the 6.2 or the jbl??
frank gonzales chara clarity and bass the Elac B6.2 wins but not by much overall presentation I’d give the A130’s hands down. The JBL’s have a lot of detail and sound very smooth. Where the Elacs almost sound grainy in comparison. The JBL’s are much livelier than the B6.2. In the same regard one could say the Elac is more neutral. However I must admit I enjoy both based on the contrast of their respective presentations. I hope this helps.
I have a set of elac dbr-62.. Which I think can beat these easily, but the dbr-62 cost a lot more.
I'm also looking at these two for nearfield desktop use. I don't plan to use any subwoofer in the setup. Just 2.0 stereo. Which one would you suggest?
Speakers are very good as you said, but I'm missing high or not bright enough :)
Not sure how to correct it
Play with treble control and toe them in towards your listening position.
Nice looking speaker with a NICE looking price tag. As usual great work on the review man! Great work on the commentary.
Thanks, well done. Can’t wait for the Klipsch review and comparison. I noticed you disappeared at the end, do the monitors disappear that easily too? 😀
He vaporized.....
very well done, sir
I can't tell if it was my Internet connection or your video editing, but I kept seeing what look like tiny jump cuts which became pretty annoying for me. I'd rather see natural gaps and stumbles in your narrative than a tightly edited version.
Would you?

How about vs the older arena 130? Now available at discounted clearance price.
Is they good for movies
I have a 15*14 room is it fine for that. I will use a subwoofer and maybe upgrade to two down the line. I currently plan on using A130 as front channels a120 as surrounds , q Acoustics 3090i as centre channel and 2 ceiling speakers for Atmos.🙏🙏🙏
Technically it will work fine, to be honest I’m not a fan of mixing two different sounding speakers in one system.
Are they good choice for my Denon 600 ? Small-medium room
Would you recommend these speakers for a mini hi-fi system. With mostly Rock but some new age, classical as well. I just want clean well balanced sound in low to medium volume
They will work great for your need, it will sound even better with a sub. Thanks

Hello, great review ! As a comparison, as I used to own JBL Studio 530, how would you compare both regarding treble (the 530 treble was fine, and not harsh to my ears) and soundstage ? Thanks !
130 have better bass than 530, less boomy but clarity of highs are much better on 530s.

This JBL speaker responds to a very wide sound frequency range. 😀😃
James B. Lansing was a genius. Hard to believe he committed suicide at the dawn of his life. The legend lives on.
Sad to hear. Had old 1977 JBL L100s. Have Stage A130 on desktop. Had for over year. Sounds fine. Easy to drive with 35 watts per channel.
Thank you
I think you should get a pair of R-51M to compare with these. Those are some fantastic speakers for $250!
Those Klipsch are less refined than JBL 130, this one is as good as RP500M.
Tharbamar oh awesome! Thanks for the feedback
Great review. Do you prefer these JBL`s or the Klipsch RP-600M?
THE JBL ARE VERY GOOD SPEAKERS I HAVE THEAM THE SOUND IS AMAZING ON THE JBL STAGE A130
Please try swapping polarity at the posts on both left and right. JBL sold some of these with a phase error. With incorrect phase the vocals are recessed, treble loses crispness and there is some boominess in the mid-bass
How do these compare with Dali Spektor 2
Hey buddy amazing video as always.
What amp would you recommend for these JBL’s. I’m looking to set them up in my living room for light listening and with my TV just to help with the movies. I don’t like sound bars.

Thanks for the reply. I would love to know how you make out. Are you noticing the improvement in vocal presentation? Certainly not all sets of these were sold with the "mistake".
Should I use them as front left and right channels in home theatre as I want bookshelves or should I use them for Surrounds. And if I use them for fronts can I use A-120 for Surrounds. Please reply 🙏🙏🙏

What about compared with wharfedale diamond 220 would the JBL be good Upgrade?
I have both and I love them both. I don’t think I’d call the JBL a big upgrade, but it does sound good. I’d be interested to know if you ended up getting the JBL, and if so, how you feel the two compare with each other.
How would you compare the JBL A130 to the JBL Studio 530, which is now $300 a pair on Amazon.
A130 is more transparent and slightly brighter than 530.
@@Tharbamar So which is the better speaker in your opinion, all things considered?
@@JamaicaSocial A130 is trash vocal due to its high-end frequency peak, I bought it last month. check the frequency response from the internet. so I will say get 530 to have better luck even though I've never owned 530.
Would these work well with a Polk subwoofer or would it be better to also buy the JBL sub?
Yes I would start crossing over around 55hz and fine tune it from there.
Love your channel I'm deciding between these speakers and The wharfdell diamond 225, I can get both speakers for the same price which one do you think is a better overall speaker I would appreciate your input?

I would go B6.2 for it because front ported design is easier to work with.

Are JBL still designed in the US like you said? I thought they were owned by Samsung now, but they could still be running JBL here in states.
While Samsung may own the group that owns JBL they are still designed in America and some of their speakers are made in America as well. Which models are made in America I am not sure off.
Samsung has not come in and just said build Samsung speakers.
whats the texture of the horn is it rubberized like the jbl 220?

Hi, Tharbamar. Would you choose these over diamond 225 for 2 channel listening?
Yes I would for more dynamic sound but if you preferred smoother sounding speakers 225 is way to go, I still love 225.
@@Tharbamar Thank you
@corky dude, May be one day in my system but I don’t think it can beat 225 in price to performance ratio base on limited experience at a friend’s system, 225 put out better bass than 11.2 but midrange is a bit better on 11.2.
Hi ! How will you compare them with Dali Zensor 3 ?
IYO, how do these compare to the PSB Alpha P5? Well, you compare the two, in this video, with respect to the lower-bass frequencies. How about with respect to the upper-midrange and the treble - Between the PSB Alpha P5 and this, the JBL Stage A130 - which get your award for 'bright-highs', but which one is actually more 'HD", able to broadcast more microscopic details? Since you mention the Elac 2.0 Debut 6.2, which one, out of the three - PSB Alpha P5, JBL Stage A130, or Elac 2.0 Debut 6.2, is best suited to providing the listener the most microscopic detail in the upper-midrange/treble? Thanks.

For that price I would go for B&W or KEF towers and for upstairs you can’t go wrong with either or both produce high quality sound .
Tharbamar Thank you so much for your advice and help. Keep up the good work with the videos I love them.
Thanks for the review.
I replaced my old Paradigm Atom front speakers, so I was looking for a new pair of budget front speakers. I tested the jbl a130 (paid 300cad new), the sony ssc5 (paid 80cad used) and the elac debut 6.2 (paid 330cad new) for several weeks.
From my unbiased point of view, the elac is significantly better than the other two. Best soundstage I've ever heard in the budget speaker class.
Elac delivers precise, detailed and controlled sound.
Jbl sounds flat, it has no midrange, the sound is empty. The bass is a bit deeper compared to the Elac, but the treble is too bright. I'd say a cold sound signature. Not comfortable for long listening. The reviewer mentioned that jbl has a better sound stage than elac. I completely disagree. My main selection factor was the sound stage because you cannot change it. The sound stage is directly related to the design of the speaker, the geometry and the quality of the woofers. For bass I have a subwoofer. The treble can be adjusted with the EQ. With my eyes closed, I could hear and point to the source of the sound delivered by the JBL speakers played in stereo. With ELAC, the sound was everywhere, especially at mid to high volumes.
Sony's sound signature was very similar to JBL's, except for the bass, which was significantly better on JBL. Sony's soundstage and sound detail were also a bit better than JBL's. Very good for the price I paid of 80cad per pair :). But the sony is not even close to the sound of the elac.
In conclusion, I like the look of the jbl (white woofer) but the sound of the elac.
JBL sold thousands of units with phase error. You've never really heard them. They will blow your mind with the polarity at the binding posts reversed.
