  • Grandaddy is an American indie rock band from Modesto, California, formed in 1992 by Jason Lytle, Aaron Burtch, and Kevin Garcia, later joined by Jim Fairchild and Tim Dryden. Known for their DIY ethos and the significant role of Lytle in their music production, Grandaddy released their debut album "Under the Western Freeway" in 1997, which gained traction in Europe and featured the notable single "A.M. 180." The band initially self-released music, leveraging their homemade studio. After several albums and a breakup in 2006, Grandaddy reformed in 2012, releasing "Last Place" in 2017. However, following Garcia's death in 2017, the band went on hiatus. In 2024, Lytle revived Grandaddy, releasing the album "Blu Wav." The band's journey reflects their evolution from skate punk influences to a distinct indie rock sound, marked by critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase.
