It doesn't need side view mirrors. Our family kept a 1986 model till 2000. Once we were rear ended by a DCM DEAWOO CIELO. We got out of the car only to find a small dent in the middle of the rear bumper, and the other guy's headlights, bumper and radiator were gone. 😋 Wish someone brings back this car as a modern classic like Mini or 500.

Trust me the wipers on the car were 'manual' - You had to move them by hand when it rained. Handbrake was a luxury. But still I loved the Padmini :)
We used to have the same car having same color and model. Had to discard it due to the aging issues of the car. Learned to drive on it. Neighbor and friends used to mock and make fun of us , they would never understand the worth of the emotion, attached to this car. We even took her wipers off as a memory to keep with us ,before bidding her a final goodbye.

Both the vehicles (Pal and Amby) are iconic. Today's vehicles cannot compete with the performance of these two. My father had a long back Amby with HM+ 1500 cc diesel engine. I enjoyed driving Amby a lot those days.

What? I was watching your video casually. At about 11:00, I realised that you are driving this car just around my house in Hyderabad. The very same road where I drive my car daily almost at the same time of the day to office. You should have taken that left at 12:55 instead of struggling with brakes and gears to reach my house. Had I known, I would have offered my car also to drive. Seriously amazed.

Hey Faisal as i commented on ur Insta story too. I infact drove this car extensively during my initial driving days. Infact both of our Ambassador and Padmini had column mounted shift with Amby it was a bit of struggle though to find the right gear and u often would find urself double declutching. But yeah ours was '95 model with the ignition key under steering with lock and it had an after market National Panasonic a/c fitted where this car had the music system. It was tough to part with it but we didn't have enough parking for more than 1 car. Now i feel that we could have kept her and probably if we had some good car custom House like Chip Foose or West Coast customs in USA could have got it modified completely. I mean it had enough space under its hood to fit in a V6 or V8... 😄 Cant imaging completely souped up Padmini with V6😁... Btw even i liked the engine sound too while revving it up.
Hi, I learnt car driving in tnis Premier Padmini (Desi version of Italian Fiat) which was an Off white color, I still remember in 1982 in Matunga Five garden area.
I learned driving in this car in the year 1995 when I just finished my 6th grade and had my summer vacations, my dad had one from 1987 to 2000. You found the engine sound so soothing because it was nostalgic :) , I am sure about this. And that is not how you slot the 3rd gear, from 2nd we come back to neutral with the same hand position palm upwards, then we twist the forearm and now palm is downwards, push the lever forward and then pull upwards in the 3rd gear.. :)) Peace!

We have a 30 year old Fiat Premier Padmini 1.1 litre. It starts under 5 secs and if it is left for months. It still starts quickly without soo much effort. And still it can go 90kmph without any hassle and it may even go further.
