Jack-Os ending with Sol where she accepts herself as an individual that's allowed to pursue happiness is very sweet and probably my favourite resolution that came out of Strive's story mode, I hope we see more moments of them and with their family in non Earth threatening scenarios.
The fact sol stopping jack-o from sacrificing herself and forcing the "hard mode" path to deal with i-no because he finally got his girl back and absolutely refuses to repeat the whole Wife gone. Think about wife. Regret. Phases is the most sol thing ever alongside him not really caring if it's aria or jack-o is why they deserve their happy ending.
I appreciate that you actually follow lore of fighting games, not alot of people like to do that and disregard fighting game lore in general, guilty gear is a little more complex but you seem to have it down. Respect my man!
Actually, Sol is still a Gear but lost the source of his powers (“the seed”) making him less powerful than he was throughout the series. He even said it himself that he’s not fully human.
And their son-in-law Ky. And Ky and Dizzy's adopted daughters who are also clones of the same woman Sol's new wife was cloned from. And Sol's 3-year-old teenage grandson who is the biological son of Sol's rival.
My time spent learning Guilty Gear's lore has prepared me for this! It's amazing how far Frederick and Aria have come; with Frederick being turned to Sol Badguy by Asuka/"That Man" and, towards the end of Strive, reverted back to Frederick by the same person; while Aria became Justice, and would later have her soul fused with Jack-o Valentine, so that they would both would be able to reunite after over 100 years! ^^
To be fair, Asuka does say some of the stuff we have associated with him was done by happychaos and the crusades were never part of the plan. That was the universal will having a bit of a laugh. Still though, looking at Jack-O I think you could make the argument it was all worth it.
i've seen the flashback cutscenes Xrd has, what he wanted Aria to do before the universal will decided to FUCK EVERYTHING was to stop the US from spamming gears for military reasons. It's just that the Universal Will decided to do it's thing that forced him to obliterate japan and Aria fucking broke as a result, going haywire

I *could* simply not help them, OR... I wake Aria up, turn her into a gear like Fred (which nearly drove him crazy) AND give her control over ALL gears EVERYWHERE. What could possibly go wrong? yeah, definitely the latter's the better idea. *Turns Aria into Justice, humanity is nearly wiped off the face of the Earth* *Asuka* : OK, but Fred and Aria are both alive and (kinda) happy! *Fred kills Aria* *Also, turns out Aria had been pregnant for a 100 years and decided to lay her egg before being killed, out of which came Dizzy* *Asuka* : Alright, given my record here, I *could* just leave it at that, OR... *Jack-O*!
Eh, a lot of the bad shit that was blamed on That Man was just Happy Chaos fucking shit up for a laugh or two or the Universal Will advancing it's plan to wipe out Mankind. Asuka was only responsible for like, 1 or 2/4 of all of that.

The story is ridiculous, to say the least, but I could not help myself smiling the whole time after the "Godzilla" line. Definitely a fun bizarre story.
Alright, theory time: I believe that jack-o is not some special artificial personality put into this clone of aria, but rather a front created by Aria herself to avoid having to face the world that she destroyed as Justice. Like, isn't it just a little bit wierd that Aria who believes her time with Fredrick is literally more valuable than life itself would just be fine with some robot personality getting with her boyfriend while she just has to sit like a prisoner in her own body? It completely goes against Aria's established character, however if my theory is correct it handily explains everything. For example: because Aria views her time with Friedrick as sort of the ultimate happiness in life, she's hesitant to get with him again as jack-o because she believes she doesn't deserve it because of all the suffering she put him through as Justice, and then at the end of Strive she, once again, makes the decision that time with Fredrick is more important than life itself by choosing to not save the world. Anyways, this *is* just a theory, for all I know the devs might well decide that Aria has actually been an alien from an ancient civilization that lived on the moon or something this whole time
I can safely say, that as someone who studies different stories to become a better writer, Jack-O is the most unique and insane character I have ever seen on a writing perspective XD Then again, more to come, I suppose!

Every wonder why the series is called Guilty Gear? Well because I have no life and I went through several wiki's and videos regarding the matter myself I'm gonna share it with you anyway. So here you go. Though this is not the actual beginning or end to the lore of the series to understand why Guilty Gear is called Guilty Gear the first thing you need to know is that in the Guilty Gear series all technology has been outlawed and in its place magic has been adopted as it’s substitute. A Gear is any organism that has been injected with Gear cells. Gear cells increase the strength, resilience, energy, self-regeneration ability, etc. of whatever they touch. Basically Gear cells make whatever it’s injected into a super version of itself, but the cost is that usually the organism will lose most if not all higher brain function and turn into a mindless brute monster. Three scientists, Asuka, Fredrick, and Aria are placed as the heads of The Gear Project. The Gear Project was initially started in hopes of curing terminal diseases/protecting mankind, but power hungry nations quickly sought out the opportunity to militarize Gears. All three are good friends but Fredrick and Aria eventually fall in love and become a couple. Aria then ends up contracting a terminal disease that will kill her in a short time. Asuka and Fredrick want to cryogenically freeze her until they can find a cure but she rejects the idea wanting to spend her last days with Fredrick. It’s a bit unclear but I believe she does eventually die but not before Asuka injects her with Gear cells and then cryogenically freezes her body. He also injects Fredrick with Gear cells. He did this in hopes of finding a cure to save Aria and thus allowing them both to have time to spend the rest of their lives together once a cure for Aria is found as anyone injected with Gear cells doesn’t really age. Fredrick was infuriated by his Gear transformation and destroyed the lab before running away, The Gear Project was soon after shut down. Asuka continued secretly researching The Gear Project on his own but the military kept intervening in hopes of militarizing his research. To combat military use of Gears he developed Justice, a “complete” Gear capable of commanding all other Gears made after it. This way regardless of who or what got access to Gears Justice could always reel them back in. However The Universal Will (kind of like God in the Guilty Gear universe but not really), whose goal was to restart the human race by wiping it out completely intervened and caused Justice to command all Gears to attack humans. This started The Crusades, a 100 year war between humans and Gears. During this war there’s only about four people of major importance, Sol Badguy, Ky Kiske, Kliff Undersn, and Testament. Sol Badguy is a bounty hunter who seemingly showed up out of nowhere during The Crusades and started killing all Gears he came across. He earned his name from the general public not really knowing what else to call him based on his very rash behavior. Ky Kiske was a sword prodigy who did a lot of great things within the Holy Order (a large organization that spearheaded fighting Gears during The Crusades) during The Crusades to fight against Gears. Kliff Undersn was the commander and one of the most prominent killer of Gears during The Crusades, also Ky’s mentor. Kliff fought Justice numerous times during The Crusades and while he was never able to kill Justice neither was Justice able to kill him. Testament is Kliff’s foster son. Testament at some point was captured by government agents and converted into a Gear against his will. Now a Gear he is now able to be controlled by Justice and under Justice’s control he was ordered to switch sides and join in destroying humanity. He meets his father Kliff in battle and Kliff defeats him though he does not kill Testament. Justice is later weakened in a battle with Sol but Sol is unable to kill her. Instead Justice is sealed away in a dimensional prison by the Holy Order, this ends The Crusades. About five years later there is a rumor than Justice will return. To prepare for her possible return the Holy Order proposes a tournament to decide the strongest fighter to take on Justice should she actually return. The tournament was open to all and killing was allowed. Sol ultimately reigns victorious in this tournament and it is then revealed that the tournament is not a precaution to prepare for Justice’s return but instead every fighter that was killed in the tournament is to be a blood sacrifice to revive Justice, and Testament, still under Justice’s influence orchestrated the entire thing. Testament says only one more sacrifice is needed to revive Justice and so Sol and Testament fight with Sol being the winner. Testament then decides to sacrifice himself to revive Justice thus freeing her from her dimensional prison. Both Ky and Kliff lose to Justice but Sol defeats her. During the fight Sol’s headband is broken and it reveals a marking on his head similar to the one Justice has, this reveals Sol to be a Gear. Justice attempts to control him but cannot. Sol tells her the reason she can’t is because she can only control Gears made after her but he is the original prototype Gear. This reveals Sol to actually be Fredrick, one of the three scientists that originally worked on The Gear Project. In her dying words Justice tells Sol she wishes the three of them could have one last conversation together. This reveals Justice to be Aria, the woman Fredrick (now Sol) fell in love with so many years ago working on The Gear Project. Sol is now stricken with an immense amount of guilt as he believes himself to be responsible for the worlds last 100 or so years of disaster. He was one of the original researchers of The Gear Project that ultimately led to him becoming the first prototype Gear, that then lead to the creation of Justice, to the 100 years of war that was The Crusades, he then failed to kill Justice which led to her being only sealed away and then being released, to now standing over the body of his once love that he himself just killed. Sol Badguy is now a GUILTY GEAR.
I haven't watched any of the cinematic but have tried to keep up with the lore through wikis since the Xrd era. I've always felt... Am I just not really getting it? But then to hear others explain it, I'm like, oh okay-- T-that's just how it is. I got it!

Explaining this character's lore is like, trying to explain why chapter 40 of a story happens the way it does without having read any of it. She makes total sense, but man you need to know a lot for that. I swear guys tho, her story is pretty tragic, this conclusion was awesome as a GG fan.

I think the definition of the Valentines are more so that they are beings that originate from the Backyard and don't actually have any direct connection to Aria. Jack-O's resemblance is intentional by Asuka's design and the first Valentine's resemblance was basically pure coincidence.
Her halo completely dissappears at the end of the strive, just like when Justice and jack-o merge i wonder what's the explanation behind it and what it could mean
Well when Sol asks her why she hasn't gotten rid of it she says she just likes it and then there's some talk about personal preference. I wouldn't be shocked if there wasn't a deeper meaning to it but I also would be shocked if she could just pull the thing out of her pocket whenever she wanted to, lol.
So the point here is it's all the original's fault since he went to the backyard. I'm just happy Sol and Jack O' will grow old together and maybe live in the moon doing a three man radio show.
Everything about this franchise is the Original's fault, since he is the one that discovered magic, created the Universal Will and led to the Y2K bug which changed the timeline from ours to the GG one.
Great vid, but Just a couple of things 1)I think that when I-no became god she kinda fused with the Backyard, so when Jack-O went inside her she was essentially going into the Backyard and was gonna delete system 32 on the computer that was god I-no. 2) It’s not entirely clear if Sol is a full normal human. If im remembering right he says he’s not *quite* human but he is close enough and definitely doesn’t have his full gear strength anymore.
Great video, I find the lore interesting. I plan to pick up and beat the older games story modes to learn more. I see PC is best to have them all on one platform.
Just know that a lot of the story modes for characters in the X2 games either get partially retconned, fully retconned, or were never canon in the first place. It makes it a bit of a mess.

@@tulegaming415 Starting with Xrd: Sign they finalized a set story background from the older 2D games and began telling the story through basically movies. If you start with Sign they will explain all the important bits from previous games. Xrd: Rev2 was a continuation of Sign and Strive directly follows Rev2. Now if you wanna play the old games anyway.... Original GG is nuts, gameplay wise. Balance was not a major concern. Story-wise, if I remember correctly, most of the character stories are kept canon. It'll be a good intro to some of the more important characters. GGX has more "false" endings with the characters. X2 has multiple iterations. Each version added a few characters, moves, etc and had balance changes. You can jump straight to Accent Core +R and not miss out on anything the other X2 games had. This one has 2 endings per character, some characters have 1 canon and 1 non-canon ending, and some characters have no canon endings. Skip Isuka. It doesn't matter and never will. OR you can check out the 7 part video series Woolie Vs did covering the GG timeline. He does an amazing job covering all the major plot succinctly.

Thanks for this given all I really knew of Jack-O was that she was essentially a clone or at least homunculus of Sol's love interest, so getting more details was appreciated. Nothing too surprising here (to me), down to the "love conquers all" ending that romanticizes an attitude that could, you know, *doom the world* but conveniently doesn't because there just happens to be another way. Yay.... That said, as someone who still hasn't watched the _Guilty Gear Strive_ story, it *was* pretty hilarious to see Sol just casually having his hand inside of I-no given all of the innuendo that she normally makes. Rather easy to imagine all of the jokes she would make about it if she wasn't hideously depressed enough at the time to the point that she's essentially trying to end the world.
11:14 you said jack-o close too fast to where it smushed into yakko from animaniacs I recently picked up a CRT monitor and was thinking to myself the animation seems a bit choppy on my regular LCD panel but might look pretty good on the CRT I played guilty gear before just for a quick play and it didn't seem very different from games like King of fighters or your traditional 2D fighter but there seems to be some story line behind it if so I might give it a shot I've been more of a story guy in recent years for video games

Noice vid. Love hearing more and more lore for characters in the GG world. One thing I'm concerned with is, does this make it the last Guilty Gear game? Cause Sol is the Guilty Gear and now he's no longer a Gear and Guilty anymore does that mean we just leave him behind? And only focus on Ky as a Gear and make him Guilty for somthin? IDK but I love the story and lore of the games and want to see more of the world and the characters be happy.
There is at minimum another full story mode coming at the end of the season 1 dlc. The story ain't over yet, and GG as a franchise will exist for many years to come
I love this videos Rooflemonger. A little side note/correction: The reason why Justice killed billions was that the universal will (Ariels) hijacked and corrupted Justice. Not because he wanted to kill everyone for the sake of the love story of his best friends.
sure, but in the end that mans plans resulted in the death of millions regardless of his original intention or what happened along the way. Besides the whole thing is Aria is still awake during this inside justice and feels guilty for all of it to boot
One bit of lore. Justice was meant to bring peace to the world cause she had the abillity to stop and control all the gear weapons used by the nations in wars. Outside intervention by the universal will caused her to lose control, which resulted in the mess. So yes, the world got fucked due to asuka acting matchmaker but it wasn't on purpose.
Quite ironically, if Asuka hadn't been the best wingman ever, everything would've ended up much, much worse. Without Justice, Universal Wills second attack would've succeeded, causing pretty much just the end of the world. Sure, Asuka using Justice to destroy Japan to stop that caused the Crusades and all, but in the end the world didn't quite end.

To be absolutely fair. We dont know 100% Sol is Human now. In classic Daisuke story telling Fashion. Ky asks "Sol are you Human now?" Sol says "No at least not entirely." So is he half gear? or is he not OP undying mega gear like before?" WHO KNOWS. Thanks Daisuke.

The way I saw it, he had to be converted into a gear in order to handle the Flame of Corruption seed. That seed was basically what made him a top teir gear and basically indestructible, ensuring he would be around when Aria came out of cold sleep. Removing the FoC likely means he won't have access to his higher end Dragon Install power, but is still abnormally strong due to the base gear cell treatment. I'd say he's at least on par with Testament, another full gear that retained their human mind and body.
@@vigorouslethargy Sol made the Original Outrage that got split into seven pieces after he was made into a gear against his will. Dragon Instal is was a temporary release into his true form. The headband was the limiter. There is more to go other but honestly its not worth it because everything is speculation.

A few characters in Xrd and Strive have made passing mention that his power is getting more chaotic everytime he uses Dragon Install. I think that is specifically due to the seed. Sol and Justice were in a league of their own, and Justice had the Scales of Juno so it makes sense. Not sure why you mentioned the Outrage. That was just meant to be an anti-gear weapon of mass destruction, but unfortunately it ended up being so powerful not even Sol could weild it. Heck, we see what insanity his Junkyard Dog can do, and that's just the Fireseal and Flashing Fang combined.
The Jack-O minions are actually a ref to GG Overture. The Dota game of Guilty Gear. Before league came out, there was GG2, and before GG2 there was the warcraft 3 dota mod. As the first Valentine used less cute minions for the majority of the game. PS: bets on Jack-O and Sol having Aria as a daughter? Cause that'd be the most cliche anime ending.
I'll always love this character! Jack-o or Aria, but to me is great. Just finding out that Jack-O wants to be someone is very interesting to me and starts developing emotions crazy and I love that. She may be an AI, but if she wants to be someone, that is something I can respect and could see myself helping her out if I was in Sol's position too. Life truly is a wonderful thing. It's great they both had a good ending!
Honestly if you trim out all the lasers, robots, and different dimensions, you end up with a nice and charming romcom plot about a woman who's in an accident, loses her memory and wakes up as a completely different person, and now her husband has to learn how to love again. Guilty Gear is The Vow.
Her fighting style is based closely on the Valentine from GG Overture. Valentine (like Justice) had the ability to manipulate active gears, as well as spawn her own personal servants that were called "The Vizuel". Jack-O's minions are just the appearance her backyard summoning magic takes on. Just a cuter less grotesque version of the Vizuel. I'm just mad she never did it in the main story to fight 😑
Not too surprising when _Tekken_ unfortunately boils down to "Mishima family soap opera where Heihachi cyclically screws over everyone and then gets screwed in turn by son and grandson he abused because he's the big bad...until _Tekken 7_ suddenly decided he isn't due to retconning his wife as the original evil one." All of the "craziest" elements in that series outside of whatever the hell Ogre is are basically tied to that Mishima melodrama since almost every other character in that series who isn't involved with it gets basically no character development, especially the weirder ones. Meanwhile, _Guilty Gear_ basically *started* with a couple of humanoid immortals, an unintentional time traveler, a man with a sentient shadow, and a woman with sentient hair among other unusual characters and basically only got crazier from there. At least outside of Axl and I-no the series mercifully stayed away from time travel unlike _Blazblue_ (by the same company), which has a borderline impenetrable story because of that and other elements.

My time spent learning Guilty Gear's lore has prepared me for this! It's amazing how far Frederick and Aria have come; with Frederick being turned to Sol Badguy by Asuka/"That Man" and, towards the end of Strive, reverted back to Frederick by the same person; while Aria became Justice, and would later have her soul fused with Jack-o Valentine, so that they would both would be able to reunite after over 100 years! ^^

To be fair, Asuka does say some of the stuff we have associated with him was done by happychaos and the crusades were never part of the plan. That was the universal will having a bit of a laugh. Still though, looking at Jack-O I think you could make the argument it was all worth it.
i've seen the flashback cutscenes Xrd has, what he wanted Aria to do before the universal will decided to FUCK EVERYTHING was to stop the US from spamming gears for military reasons. It's just that the Universal Will decided to do it's thing that forced him to obliterate japan and Aria fucking broke as a result, going haywire

Alright, theory time: I believe that jack-o is not some special artificial personality put into this clone of aria, but rather a front created by Aria herself to avoid having to face the world that she destroyed as Justice. Like, isn't it just a little bit wierd that Aria who believes her time with Fredrick is literally more valuable than life itself would just be fine with some robot personality getting with her boyfriend while she just has to sit like a prisoner in her own body? It completely goes against Aria's established character, however if my theory is correct it handily explains everything. For example: because Aria views her time with Friedrick as sort of the ultimate happiness in life, she's hesitant to get with him again as jack-o because she believes she doesn't deserve it because of all the suffering she put him through as Justice, and then at the end of Strive she, once again, makes the decision that time with Fredrick is more important than life itself by choosing to not save the world. Anyways, this *is* just a theory, for all I know the devs might well decide that Aria has actually been an alien from an ancient civilization that lived on the moon or something this whole time

I can safely say, that as someone who studies different stories to become a better writer, Jack-O is the most unique and insane character I have ever seen on a writing perspective XD Then again, more to come, I suppose!

Every wonder why the series is called Guilty Gear? Well because I have no life and I went through several wiki's and videos regarding the matter myself I'm gonna share it with you anyway. So here you go.
Though this is not the actual beginning or end to the lore of the series to understand why Guilty Gear is called Guilty Gear the first thing you need to know is that in the Guilty Gear series all technology has been outlawed and in its place magic has been adopted as it’s substitute. A Gear is any organism that has been injected with Gear cells. Gear cells increase the strength, resilience, energy, self-regeneration ability, etc. of whatever they touch. Basically Gear cells make whatever it’s injected into a super version of itself, but the cost is that usually the organism will lose most if not all higher brain function and turn into a mindless brute monster. Three scientists, Asuka, Fredrick, and Aria are placed as the heads of The Gear Project. The Gear Project was initially started in hopes of curing terminal diseases/protecting mankind, but power hungry nations quickly sought out the opportunity to militarize Gears. All three are good friends but Fredrick and Aria eventually fall in love and become a couple. Aria then ends up contracting a terminal disease that will kill her in a short time. Asuka and Fredrick want to cryogenically freeze her until they can find a cure but she rejects the idea wanting to spend her last days with Fredrick. It’s a bit unclear but I believe she does eventually die but not before Asuka injects her with Gear cells and then cryogenically freezes her body. He also injects Fredrick with Gear cells. He did this in hopes of finding a cure to save Aria and thus allowing them both to have time to spend the rest of their lives together once a cure for Aria is found as anyone injected with Gear cells doesn’t really age. Fredrick was infuriated by his Gear transformation and destroyed the lab before running away, The Gear Project was soon after shut down. Asuka continued secretly researching The Gear Project on his own but the military kept intervening in hopes of militarizing his research. To combat military use of Gears he developed Justice, a “complete” Gear capable of commanding all other Gears made after it. This way regardless of who or what got access to Gears Justice could always reel them back in. However The Universal Will (kind of like God in the Guilty Gear universe but not really), whose goal was to restart the human race by wiping it out completely intervened and caused Justice to command all Gears to attack humans. This started The Crusades, a 100 year war between humans and Gears. During this war there’s only about four people of major importance, Sol Badguy, Ky Kiske, Kliff Undersn, and Testament. Sol Badguy is a bounty hunter who seemingly showed up out of nowhere during The Crusades and started killing all Gears he came across. He earned his name from the general public not really knowing what else to call him based on his very rash behavior. Ky Kiske was a sword prodigy who did a lot of great things within the Holy Order (a large organization that spearheaded fighting Gears during The Crusades) during The Crusades to fight against Gears. Kliff Undersn was the commander and one of the most prominent killer of Gears during The Crusades, also Ky’s mentor. Kliff fought Justice numerous times during The Crusades and while he was never able to kill Justice neither was Justice able to kill him. Testament is Kliff’s foster son. Testament at some point was captured by government agents and converted into a Gear against his will. Now a Gear he is now able to be controlled by Justice and under Justice’s control he was ordered to switch sides and join in destroying humanity. He meets his father Kliff in battle and Kliff defeats him though he does not kill Testament. Justice is later weakened in a battle with Sol but Sol is unable to kill her. Instead Justice is sealed away in a dimensional prison by the Holy Order, this ends The Crusades. About five years later there is a rumor than Justice will return. To prepare for her possible return the Holy Order proposes a tournament to decide the strongest fighter to take on Justice should she actually return. The tournament was open to all and killing was allowed. Sol ultimately reigns victorious in this tournament and it is then revealed that the tournament is not a precaution to prepare for Justice’s return but instead every fighter that was killed in the tournament is to be a blood sacrifice to revive Justice, and Testament, still under Justice’s influence orchestrated the entire thing. Testament says only one more sacrifice is needed to revive Justice and so Sol and Testament fight with Sol being the winner. Testament then decides to sacrifice himself to revive Justice thus freeing her from her dimensional prison. Both Ky and Kliff lose to Justice but Sol defeats her. During the fight Sol’s headband is broken and it reveals a marking on his head similar to the one Justice has, this reveals Sol to be a Gear. Justice attempts to control him but cannot. Sol tells her the reason she can’t is because she can only control Gears made after her but he is the original prototype Gear. This reveals Sol to actually be Fredrick, one of the three scientists that originally worked on The Gear Project. In her dying words Justice tells Sol she wishes the three of them could have one last conversation together. This reveals Justice to be Aria, the woman Fredrick (now Sol) fell in love with so many years ago working on The Gear Project. Sol is now stricken with an immense amount of guilt as he believes himself to be responsible for the worlds last 100 or so years of disaster. He was one of the original researchers of The Gear Project that ultimately led to him becoming the first prototype Gear, that then lead to the creation of Justice, to the 100 years of war that was The Crusades, he then failed to kill Justice which led to her being only sealed away and then being released, to now standing over the body of his once love that he himself just killed. Sol Badguy is now a GUILTY GEAR.
I like these types of videos as strive is my first guilty gear and I don't know anything about the lore. Nice video man

Explaining this character's lore is like, trying to explain why chapter 40 of a story happens the way it does without having read any of it. She makes total sense, but man you need to know a lot for that.

Jack-O in Strive is like Venom and Zato's bastard child gameplay-wise.
I think the definition of the Valentines are more so that they are beings that originate from the Backyard and don't actually have any direct connection to Aria. Jack-O's resemblance is intentional by Asuka's design and the first Valentine's resemblance was basically pure coincidence.
Her halo completely dissappears at the end of the strive, just like when Justice and jack-o merge i wonder what's the explanation behind it and what it could mean
Well when Sol asks her why she hasn't gotten rid of it she says she just likes it and then there's some talk about personal preference. I wouldn't be shocked if there wasn't a deeper meaning to it but I also would be shocked if she could just pull the thing out of her pocket whenever she wanted to, lol.
So the point here is it's all the original's fault since he went to the backyard. I'm just happy Sol and Jack O' will grow old together and maybe live in the moon doing a three man radio show.
Everything about this franchise is the Original's fault, since he is the one that discovered magic, created the Universal Will and led to the Y2K bug which changed the timeline from ours to the GG one.

1)I think that when I-no became god she kinda fused with the Backyard, so when Jack-O went inside her she was essentially going into the Backyard and was gonna delete system 32 on the computer that was god I-no.
2) It’s not entirely clear if Sol is a full normal human. If im remembering right he says he’s not *quite* human but he is close enough and definitely doesn’t have his full gear strength anymore.

Great video, I find the lore interesting. I plan to pick up and beat the older games story modes to learn more. I see PC is best to have them all on one platform.
Just know that a lot of the story modes for characters in the X2 games either get partially retconned, fully retconned, or were never canon in the first place. It makes it a bit of a mess.

Starting with Xrd: Sign they finalized a set story background from the older 2D games and began telling the story through basically movies. If you start with Sign they will explain all the important bits from previous games. Xrd: Rev2 was a continuation of Sign and Strive directly follows Rev2. Now if you wanna play the old games anyway....
Original GG is nuts, gameplay wise. Balance was not a major concern. Story-wise, if I remember correctly, most of the character stories are kept canon. It'll be a good intro to some of the more important characters.
GGX has more "false" endings with the characters.
X2 has multiple iterations. Each version added a few characters, moves, etc and had balance changes. You can jump straight to Accent Core +R and not miss out on anything the other X2 games had. This one has 2 endings per character, some characters have 1 canon and 1 non-canon ending, and some characters have no canon endings.
Skip Isuka. It doesn't matter and never will.
OR you can check out the 7 part video series Woolie Vs did covering the GG timeline. He does an amazing job covering all the major plot succinctly.

Thanks for this given all I really knew of Jack-O was that she was essentially a clone or at least homunculus of Sol's love interest, so getting more details was appreciated. Nothing too surprising here (to me), down to the "love conquers all" ending that romanticizes an attitude that could, you know, *doom the world* but conveniently doesn't because there just happens to be another way. Yay....
That said, as someone who still hasn't watched the _Guilty Gear Strive_ story, it *was* pretty hilarious to see Sol just casually having his hand inside of I-no given all of the innuendo that she normally makes. Rather easy to imagine all of the jokes she would make about it if she wasn't hideously depressed enough at the time to the point that she's essentially trying to end the world.

11:14 you said jack-o close too fast to where it smushed into yakko from animaniacs I recently picked up a CRT monitor and was thinking to myself the animation seems a bit choppy on my regular LCD panel but might look pretty good on the CRT I played guilty gear before just for a quick play and it didn't seem very different from games like King of fighters or your traditional 2D fighter but there seems to be some story line behind it if so I might give it a shot I've been more of a story guy in recent years for video games

Noice vid. Love hearing more and more lore for characters in the GG world. One thing I'm concerned with is, does this make it the last Guilty Gear game? Cause Sol is the Guilty Gear and now he's no longer a Gear and Guilty anymore does that mean we just leave him behind? And only focus on Ky as a Gear and make him Guilty for somthin? IDK but I love the story and lore of the games and want to see more of the world and the characters be happy.
There is at minimum another full story mode coming at the end of the season 1 dlc. The story ain't over yet, and GG as a franchise will exist for many years to come

One bit of lore. Justice was meant to bring peace to the world cause she had the abillity to stop and control all the gear weapons used by the nations in wars. Outside intervention by the universal will caused her to lose control, which resulted in the mess. So yes, the world got fucked due to asuka acting matchmaker but it wasn't on purpose.

Quite ironically, if Asuka hadn't been the best wingman ever, everything would've ended up much, much worse. Without Justice, Universal Wills second attack would've succeeded, causing pretty much just the end of the world. Sure, Asuka using Justice to destroy Japan to stop that caused the Crusades and all, but in the end the world didn't quite end.

The way I saw it, he had to be converted into a gear in order to handle the Flame of Corruption seed. That seed was basically what made him a top teir gear and basically indestructible, ensuring he would be around when Aria came out of cold sleep. Removing the FoC likely means he won't have access to his higher end Dragon Install power, but is still abnormally strong due to the base gear cell treatment. I'd say he's at least on par with Testament, another full gear that retained their human mind and body.

The headband was the limiter. There is more to go other but honestly its not worth it because everything is speculation.

A few characters in Xrd and Strive have made passing mention that his power is getting more chaotic everytime he uses Dragon Install. I think that is specifically due to the seed. Not sure why you mentioned the Outrage. That was just meant to be an anti-gear weapon of mass destruction, but unfortunately it ended up being so powerful not even Sol could weild it. Heck, we see what insanity his Junkyard Dog can do, and that's just the Fireseal and Flashing Fang combined.

The Jack-O minions are actually a ref to GG Overture. The Dota game of Guilty Gear. Before league came out, there was GG2, and before GG2 there was the warcraft 3 dota mod. As the first Valentine used less cute minions for the majority of the game.

I'll always love this character! Jack-o or Aria, but to me is great. Just finding out that Jack-O wants to be someone is very interesting to me and starts developing emotions crazy and I love that. She may be an AI, but if she wants to be someone, that is something I can respect and could see myself helping her out if I was in Sol's position too. Life truly is a wonderful thing. It's great they both had a good ending!

Honestly if you trim out all the lasers, robots, and different dimensions, you end up with a nice and charming romcom plot about a woman who's in an accident, loses her memory and wakes up as a completely different person, and now her husband has to learn how to love again. Guilty Gear is The Vow.

Her fighting style is based closely on the Valentine from GG Overture. Valentine (like Justice) had the ability to manipulate active gears, as well as spawn her own personal servants that were called "The Vizuel". Jack-O's minions are just the appearance her backyard summoning magic takes on. Just a cuter less grotesque version of the Vizuel. I'm just mad she never did it in the main story to fight 😑

GG lore is way more confusing than Tekken
Not too surprising when _Tekken_ unfortunately boils down to "Mishima family soap opera where Heihachi cyclically screws over everyone and then gets screwed in turn by son and grandson he abused because he's the big bad...until _Tekken 7_ suddenly decided he isn't due to retconning his wife as the original evil one." All of the "craziest" elements in that series outside of whatever the hell Ogre is are basically tied to that Mishima melodrama since almost every other character in that series who isn't involved with it gets basically no character development, especially the weirder ones.
Meanwhile, _Guilty Gear_ basically *started* with a couple of humanoid immortals, an unintentional time traveler, a man with a sentient shadow, and a woman with sentient hair among other unusual characters and basically only got crazier from there. At least outside of Axl and I-no the series mercifully stayed away from time travel unlike _Blazblue_ (by the same company), which has a borderline impenetrable story because of that and other elements.
