How can you compare one with the other? The Beatles are way beyond Candle Flop , and the record company who sanctioned the cover needs to be sanctioned by the UN for crimes against talent.
Record company does not have to sanction a cover, that is only for use of the original recording. Anyone can cover the song, just have to pay the publisher royalties
The Beatles all day but candy flip brought back some great memories 😅😅😅
Candy Flip was a drug reference of the time-1990 with the acid house rave scene they were from. It was a big hit here in the UK, but they were one hit wonders. Very faithful to the original which was surprising for a dance act & about as a good a cover as you can do of it.
I bought the Candy Flip version and its pretty good, but sorry but The Beatles version is on a different planet, maybe the best song of all time(especially with headphones) A feasr for the ears.
Totally with you ❤❤
Hats off to the requestors for trolling the channel with this lol but if they were serious then I fear they are damaged by Candy flipping! Now I have to erase them again from my memory, cheers for that!
Good luck with not getting Beatle-blocked!
😉👍
And yay, first to comment! 😁
Or Beatle Bummed !
(I could've also typed "Jay" instead of "yay"! 😄😉)
@@davidellis5141 - Ohhh, what was _that_ again?! Blur, I think!? 😀
Sir Jay will be put out that he wasn't first 😂
SO put out mightyV that I decided to have another snooze before replying 😆

The Beatles version is weird - it's actually two different takes recorded months apart spliced together in different tempos and keys. It's wild that it actually works.
Thank you for doing this, it's always appreciated when you do a suggestion of mine. For me it's a win for The Beatles, the cover was actually a good attempt at a difficult song to cover, but Candy Flip did a good job.
How much did you pay Team Hanier to have that awful noise to be showcased? 😂
@@Starburst_Candytold you SC ! Adam’s got laminated photos of some seedy goings on at chez Hanier 😅.. it’s the only explanation
👍🏴
@@jaymacgee_A_Bawbag_Blethering They must be absolutely salacious ( the sort of thing I love to get up to ) for Adam to hog the channel. Adam needs to post them and let us all join in.
@@Starburst_Candy what are you like ? Delightful , Starburst 👏 😝
I will say this though , Adam and OnceWas are music lovers , clearly - and use the scatter gun approach , so we can’t blame them . Adam especially, seems like a thoroughly nice and decent bloke who, unlike you and I , 😆, has never said a bad word about anyone . So I can hear the genuine frustration in you n col’s comments , Ive voiced them too 😳.. it’s just an idea , but why don’t we see how overnight “ Fri Favs “ go and meanwhile post a comment with literally tens of your fav tracks in bullet point format and join in the scatter gun approach ? Get Col to do the same 🤷♂️. If you count , there are 12-15 regulars who comment every day , like and view to the end of the vid , the bedrock of this channel if you will , if you can’t get one or more of your list played in a short but reasonable space of time then you know your not valued and .. well .. I can guess the end of that story tbh . Those same 12-15 folk are the main reason I’m here if truth be told , I love the banter and getting one of my picks every now n again is superb , cos unlike some of the things skinned Johnnies on here I DO like discourse and opinion on my picks , wether fair or foul . So before I lose 2 of my fav folk on here I urge you to set aside some time this weekend and put a giant list of requests in each .. I have ZERO doubt I’ll hate most of them 😄.. but that’s not the point SC , I want your requests played so I can “ thrash “ them with gay abandon … 😝…but also to be surprised by an odd request that is a secret fav of mines that I didn’t know we shared !
To quote Timmy from the 70’s soft core T n A Confessions films ,” How about it ? “

@@jaymacgee_A_Bawbag_Blethering I think we'll fight our corner lovely Jay.
Adam is a top guy, and as a former serviceman, I'm sure that he wouldn't mind being the centre of banter. Adam is a bootneck and I have been friends with many bootie wives. ( No we never out our keys in the bowl) Once was has suggested some great music, as has Adam, and the odd howler too.
I think the frustration is about a lack of respect when people make the effort and it's not reciprocated. I'm hopeful that C n C will take this into consideration and find a fairer system.
Candy Flip?????>
AAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!
Well no comparison in my view THe Beatles..yes the other was good cover but still a cover. I understand Strawberry Fields was an asylum and now knowing that read the lyrics and they do make more sense than ever.
Keep Safe Keep Strong 🦘🦘🦘🦘❤❤🎵🎵🎶🎶🎵🎵
The Beatles are a no doubt winner .. The Chameleons do a nice Tomorrow Never Knows ..
They do indeed!
This cannot be a real question.
My suggestion again is Temple of the king, between Rainbow and Axel Rudi Pell.
When the orchestra was recorded, they discovered that John's vocals were a quarter tone sharp compared to the track the orchestra played. George Martin asked John to come in and re-record his vocals. Being the eternal slacker, John said, "Now I am sure you can fix it George", not wanting to come back to work. George slowed John's vocals a bit to match the tone when the orchestra comes in. Lennon's laziness paid off.
I thought Candy Flip were just a cash in when just about everyone in Manchester wearing a baggy sweater was being given a record deal
Definitely a cash in from the real talent but according to Wiki they were from Stoke-on-Trent.
Well, I appreciate it when a band takes a song and makes it their own. I don't think Candy Flip quite did that, but it wasn't a bad attempt. The danger of doing a Beatles song is that we have had it in our heads for 50 years or more (well, us oldies anyway!!) and it is hard to put those 50 years aside. I think they did a reasonable job, modernising the keyboard parts and adding new bits. The drums, well, my name here is Notanotherenigma... I love the music of Enigma, and they use lots of similar beats. Their genre is called World music, but to be honest, I think it is baby making music!!! I'm going to suggest Return To Innocence if you are not familiar with them.
And again, I'm going to recommend Beatles Vs Doug Parkinson with Dear Prudence. Musically not that different, but Doug's vocals hits it out of the park!
That Candy Flip one could only exist in 1990
The Beatles, together with George Martin, were the real innovators in "modern" music. It was them that pathed the way for bands such as Pink Floyd.
So it was THEIR fault ?… why I aughtta !!

@@jaymacgee_A_Bawbag_Blethering Yes, blame them! However, without Pink Floyd, ELP, and King Crimson, there would be no punk! 🏴☠️🏴🇬🇧

Reading the comments I expected a absolute roaster from candy flip, surprise surprise, it's ok , just because I like the top the singer was wearing, candy flip get my vote,, interesting factiod about the James brown drum thing, I never knew that and shall keep a " ear out" for it🏴 happy healthy peace ✌️
Obviously the Beatles version is a masterpiece but Candy Flip version is surprisingly good. People need to stop being so precious about covers of classic songs.
Why ? It’s my genuinely held opinion , are you one of those fascists who despise honest criticism ?… you do YOU bugsby and I’ll continue to do ME as I please .

...so defensive... 😉
@@hanierfamily perhaps so , but I never genuinely question anyones motives or preferences and that persons insistence that others views are flawed and their view is the only reasonable one is just infuriating. They should stick to their own opinions of the music and I’ll do mine . 🤷♂️

Never watched a video on your channel ... so let me educate you ... the defining cover of this song came out I believe in 1990 depending on which version ... the Fuzzy Warbles or Collins Hermits .... same version and features the lead singer/founder of XTC on vocal.s The cover blows Candy Flip out of the water and rivals the original version seriously ... what makes the version so amazing is the fact that no that much technology is used ... all the parts played by one man and recorded old school on a tape recorder. Check out this version and be prepared to wowed. Its one of my favorite covers of all time .. right up there with "All Along The Watchtower" the Jimi Hendrix Experience" version which of course is a landmark cover.
Who did Strawberry Fields best? Isn’t that a redundant question? 😂
Love both but the Beatles’ versions of their own songs are the best. And that’s the law 😂😂❤❤
Is this a serious question?
Great to have an easy choice from you. The Candy Flip version is one of the worst abominations known to popular music. It's not because it's particularly disrespectful to the Beatles, that doesn't matter, but it was totally a cynical exploitation to make money. It was around the peak of the trippy Madchester sound of the late 80's/early 90's (Happy Mondays, Charlatans, Inspiral Carpets etc.) , and someone just thought "Let's take this sound and put a great old tune with it, we'll rake it in".....
seriously
Candyflipping is doing acid and ecstasy at the same time.....the acid enhances the effects and duration of the E.
Took me years to find out what this reference meant, as it was generally southern/English term and its grim up north.
Also, The Amen Break would like a word with you regarding The Funky Drummer, Chris!
So, who did it first, because the Funky Drummer sounds very similar, but slower.
@@hanierfamilyI think its The Amen Break, it's from 1969, i believe Funky Drummer is from 1970.
It's difficult to know which has been used more, both have been sampled thousands of times
My favourite Amen Break video...

Fabulosos Cadillacs and debbie harry was gr8.. Beatles do it best
All i will say is there is nothing artistically creative or expressive about the Candy Flip cover, unlike the Beatles original.
Candy flip's version is horrendous
Well. Yeah, there's that. I'm the wrong person to judge being an annoying Beatles fan boy. Another comparison you might try is "Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime." by The Korgis and Beck.
Silly question nobody does anything betterthan the beatles
I didn't think I could miss Ringo so much. Candy Flip were an insipid abomination.

@@Starburst_Candy I think this one was an easy target for a few people.
Don’t even need to hear to know the Beatles are far superior to Candy whoever, who I wouldn’t have remembered had you not featured it here
Fun fact - the reason Candy Flip were a one hit wonder was that immediately upon the release of this pox filled , disease ridden trash , they were arrested and convicted on charges of musical crimes against humanity …👀
It’s not a serious comparison but the methodology of this thang requires me to say I prefer The Beatles ..🤪

😂❤
Was this an excuse to put another Beatles song on our channel? I mean, it was requested...
@@hanierfamily But yet again, the same person. It's becoming a running joke that Adam's choices are forever being featured.
@@hanierfamily I’m not sure I follow you C n C tbh .. 🤷♂️

@@Starburst_Candy We chose the song because it was The Beatles. Not because it was Adam. Ryan's requests get chosen about as much. It's because they've requested so many songs, it's hard to avoid them.
The Beatles win by lightyears. The Candy Flip cover is weak and pathetic.
The nerve. they took Lennon's attitude out of it.
candy flip....can't stand the beatles
