Definitely a close contender to the Volvo XC 70 t5 in the UK you can get them quite cheap as they were used as police vehicles my dad has one he bought it in 2013 for £5000 it had 150,000 miles on the clock he’s already put 70,000 miles on it and it’s seven years as our family car I also got a chance to drive it and that’s why I bought one as well for around £1500 cracking daily driver

I have the Polestar tune on mine ~ 250hp chassie/brakes upgrades, and I must say it keeps up/with alot of todays performance orientented hot hatches, gotta love the T5 🤟

Do you have the stock intercooler with this tune? Also did you upload the Polestar tune yourself or have the dealership do it? I have an 08 C30 T5, and after upgrading suspension, this will be next up.
@@johnsorrentino6630 The Polestar tune got uploaded by the Volvo dealership, Volvo also registrated the new power output in the "car-register". I run stock intercooler and I feel so far that it manage the power, but I will uppgrade to a bigger one from xc60 which fits "bolt on" and also focus RS oilcooler, for the trackdays.
Nice car 👍 I have my v70r awd '98 stage 1 Lovely sound and can take on many cars. I'm soon ready for 3" downpipe and exhaust. I might do straight pipe just to hear what it will sound like. 5 banger all the way
If you haven’t already straight piped it, I recommend getting a valved muffler so that you can switch between straight-piped and bearably quiet volumes. If the drone gets unbearable I recommend adding sound deadening material in the rear cargo area to reduce reverberation.
I just picked up a c30 t5 with the polestar tune and it’s a huge difference from the 1.8. It’s a bit of a pig on gas but it’s hard to resist because of the low to mid range torque that makes it effortless to accelerate.

(I have a Volvo C30 T5, and I have done these upgrades to it) 1: Larger upgraded intercooler, the stock intercooler is too small to sufficiently cool a modified engine 2: Larger downpipe and exhaust that provides more flow, allows for the turbo to spool up more efficiently 3: Larger turbo intake pipe, same story as above. (an open-air filter is optional, I kept my stock airbox and added a performance filter) ^ When you have done these things, take it to a tuner and get it tuned. 4: Larger or perforated brakes with good quality brake pads, going fast is important but so is slowing down quickly. 5: Upgraded motor mounts, they tend to wear out and new mounts can improve throttle response 6: When you are aiming for large amounts of power, the plastic intake plenum can crack after a while, it is advisable to upgrade it to an alloy one after you have done all of the above. 7: Improve handling characteristics with a stiffer rear sway bar and front strut bar. Optionally you can put lowering springs or shocks on your car to get the center of gravity lower to the ground. 9: Enjoy :)
The nice thing about C30 is that it is a cheap car and 300 km/h is pretty much close, so with some upgrades like air filter, sports exhaust and a turbo upgrade, it can reach that speed
Guys the factory turbo on these cars is too small for this 2.5 engine. Borg warner only rate the turbo for 250bhp... The K04 turbo matched to this engine will give excellent midrange torque with a remap, but at high rpm there is no power because it cannot push enough air for the 5 cylinder motor. This 2.5T low pressure version is more suited for pulling heavy XC90 SUV than as a hot hatch car. That is the reason why S60R and Focus RS MK2 changed to bigger turbo (K24 and K16 respectively) for use with this 2.5 block. You gotta think of these C30 / S40 T5 and MK2 focus ST as more of a torquey GT, than an outright boosted performance car. Personally, I would be happy to run a 250bhp C30 that used a slightly bigger turbo to make that 250bhp higher in the rev range, like the original 2.3 T5 engines volvo used.
Definitely hard to come by, especially with lower mileage. I lucked out and found one on CarMax with only 37k miles on it. Having it shipped in from their Colorado Springs store to their Waterbury, CT store. The sales guy was even like I can try to find you something closer. But nah I have wanted one of these since my 20's. Can't wait for it to come.

Stage 1 is generally just software. Stage 2 is software with a downpipe and maybe an intake. Stage 3 *normally* is all the above plus intercooler and hybrid turbocharger. Anyways, stages don't mean anything.

I have a volvo s40 t5, better intercooler, software, K&N filter and soon 3'' whole stainless exhaust from turbo to back, no cat. Last summer I got it running 240kmh. Also upgraded brakes and tires. Maybe will up the boost also.

@@two_stroke_rider yeah, I get about 110-130 miles out of £20 based from about a smidgen below half tank to the red mark. So I recon about 35 miles per Gallon or so even though a V50 is heavier than a C30/ S40. Mind you, recently my rear calipers are dragging as they done their bit after 122k miles so I get slightly less. Have a pair of new calipers I ordered last week so just a matter to actually replace them.
How did you get so little power out of the chip? Like i got 850 T5, and it has 224hp as stock, but now it's approx 300hp. With chip and turbo from 850R
@@GronforsR different engines, specially the turbocharger. The s40 uses a k04 with a small compressor housing which limits it quite heavily, great for low end torque tho. The 850, s60, s/v70 first and second generation uses the mitsubishi td04 turbos which can support more airflow.

It is quite possible to have the R-design body kit without the interior kit. My c30t5 had R-design body kit and 20mm lower sports chassi, but no r-design interior. I do however agree with you. Without the bodykit, the c30 looks weird.
It is just the black plastic I dont like for the non R designs. Not sure why they couldnt paint the whole thing.. Also I have a C30 R design, 2009. I have the winter package, and I will say that the seats are a lot more comfortable than the regular R design seats.

Straight pipe will drone very badly. It did on my P1 S40 M66 AWD. I went back to stock exhaust.
