There is obviously more to this story than meets the eye. Zheng Shuang, by all accounts appears to have been the breadwinner, who had to work to provide for the family. There is something about this Zhang Heng character that is suspect. Something tells me he is not to be trusted. He reminds me of another case I read about a man who targeted a celebrity and married her in order to bring her down and ruin her career. Something smells amiss here.

This is a CUSTODY case, unless there was any question about the children's parentage will forensics be used. Unless you are talking about the forensics behind the audio recording? Those were not admissible in court because they were released to the public before the court date. However, they can be used to paint a picture to the public and that was what happened. It had no weight on the outcome of the case but definitely was a big factor in the public's perception of ZS's character. They didn't "accept evidence of ZS cuz it's legit". In fact, she had lied multiple times in court too. One very big lie is that she had no idea that the children were born until ZH contacted her. ...I think all adults are aware that pregnancies take 9 months. The timeline of events that occurred were: ZH+ZS hired 2 surrogates that were both successful --> Their marriage breaks down because ZH allegedly cheated on her so they separate --> She didn't want the children anymore so she went behind ZH's back to contact the surrogacy agencies to terminate the pregnancies and the agencies tell her it was not possible because babies are not goods that can be returned or refunded. After that, she basically ghosted the agency. The agency was worried as the date drew near and contacted ZH for which ZH told them he had no knowledge of ZS's request of the terminations and that he will take responsibility for them. Throughout the pregnancies, ZH maintained contact with the 2 surrogates and the agency, even made further plans to bring the babies home. BEFORE YOU SAY ANYTHING: all of these were proven in court via email documents provided by the agency. They included the emails from ZS and also ZH and unless you tell me the agency falsified them (which they didn't), this aspect of the story is true --> ZS is then informed by ZH of the children's births and she GAVE HER CONSENT for ZH to bring the babies home without her present in person. That is a legality that is required. Without this consent form, ZH will not be allowed to pick the babies up alone from the hospital. During this time, ZS made NO plans for the children. She continued to book projects and films, all in the month of the babies' birth. The JUDGE challenged her on multiple occasions (i understand both english and mandarin and so I watched the court videos): Why did you not buy flights when the births drew near? Why did you take on new filming projects in the same months they are expected to be born? She was unable to answer these questions because the answer was that she didn't want the children anymore. Simple. He never "hid" in the States, the children were BORN in the States. They were US citizens and needed ZS's signature to apply for passports, for which ZS REFUSED (because she didn't want them back in China at the time since they were secrets). Hence why there is a clause in the final COURT VERDICT that ZH gets sole legal custody as well as being able to obtain legal documents for the children without the approval of the other party. ZS could have made things easier by signing a piece of paper, allowing ZH to apply for passports and then settle legal matters back in China. But ZS didn't want the babies in China. She refused to sign the form to allow them passports before the news broke out of their existence. 2. "The court even order him to pay her money back." --> This is a totally separate case, not even on the same day let alone the same judge or proceedings. This was straightforward. She lent him money, he claimed that it was shared expenses because they were married at the time but there was a single text message with the word "loan" that ruled in her favour so he would have to pay her back. Nothing to do with custody, but doesn't paint him in a nice light either. In fact, she has been fined for tax evasion and has been fined by the chinese govt 299 million yuan (US$46 million) so if you must compare the 2........ 3. She never contacted ZH before the children's births and never made any plans to meet the children. She wanted them gone. She wanted them adopted. This video is a bit confusing. Here is the summary. Zhang Heng filed for sole custody. Zheng Shuang requested for joint. The final ruling was sole custody to Zhang Heng with visitation rights to Zheng Shuang. That is not the same as joint custody so Zheng Shuang did NOT win. With sole custody, Zhang Heng doesn't legally need permission or consent from Zheng Shuang with any decisions with the children (ie making their passports or flying them back to China etc) Zhang Heng has been granted permission to make all the important decisions in the children's lives. Here is the final ruling: At the end of the day, when the evidence that was presented is stripped to the core, the Court is left with the following conclusions: - Father is the only parent that the children know and has been their primary caregiver for almost eighteen months. He, alone, ensured that they were brought safely into the world and into a loving home, and he, alone, has ensured that their needs have been met - Mother is someone the children have seen a couple of times with helpers and, at best, is a very casual acquaintance, at worst a stranger, but certainly not a parent. - Mother has not demonstrated to this Court a desire to become a significant caregiver to the children or taken a parental interest in them, nor has she shown the Court that she has the motivation or stability to care for them.

ZS can issue for full custody later. First she needs to bond with the kids, because they just met their mother and feel uncomfortable around her. ZH's parents sold their property and gave money to buy everything for the children. Maybe they're more responsible being able to sacrifice for their grandchildren. And ZH's mom helps him taking care of them. Seems like a good granny.

That actually isn't true. He was silent for a year, the year he was raising their 2 children alone in the states. The court order dated September 2021 did not make any changes to the outcomes of the order dated in May. I am Chinese and well versed in English, so not only did I watch/listen to her statements, I also read the FULL court order of the case. She isn't a brave mother. Here are some of the facts that you have missed about the case. 1. She did not want the kids. One of the points raised by the judge was the fact that she took on multiple projects during the months that the babies were expected to be born. Not only did she not purchase any tickets or made plans to travel, she virtually had no time to take care of the children. Of course, an argument can be made that she gave permission to Zhang Heng to pick up the kids after their birth + the pandemic making it difficult to travel, but that doesn't discount the fact that she took on other filming projects while she would have not one but TWO newborns at home. THe judge saw through that, knew that she had no intentions of taking care of the children before the lawsuit happened. Here is a word for word quote from the court order: "Father took responsibility for the children when Mother sought to abandon them. Upon learning of Mother's inquiries about placing the children for adoption, Father mobilised. He immediately accepted responsibility for them and made clear that he would not let them be adopted by strangers. Father met with each surrogate. He set up a household for the children and put in place resources to assist him in caring for the children. Father made sure that he would be present at the births and picked up each child. He has been caring for the children full-time for the past fifteen months.........Mother provided the Court with no confidence that she wants to be a parent to the children and will commit to devoting her life to doing so. The Court appreciates that she is here now and that it is challenging for her to manoeuvre in a foreign country, and that she has taken steps to furnish a home for the children at least temporarily. However, she has not shown that she is highly motivated to parent the children, failed to establish that she has any understanding of how to parent young children, or that she will do what is necessary to develop a parental relationship with the children. Accordingly, the Court cannot conclude that she is able to place the children's interests ahead of her own." 2. She tried to terminate the surrogate pregnancies behind ZH's back. There were emails presented during court, provided by the Surrogacy agency. They had to tell ZS that the babies "cannot be returned". After which, she cut off all contact with the agency completely. Concerned, they then contacted ZH, who had no idea she wanted to terminate the pregnancies and immediately stepped up, assuring the agency that he would take care of the children. 3. She stayed silent for her kids? No, she stayed silent because she didn't want anyone to know she had kids. From points 1 and 2, it was obvious that she never wanted to acknowledge them if this didn't happen. And after ZH exposed her, she was VERY vocal on social media. She started writing essays of incoherent sentences, talking about how she had a medical condition hence why she couldn't get pregnant, exposing that ZH was a cheater and that she broke no law. HERE IS MY ISSUE WITH THOSE STATEMENTS: The big problem wasn't that their relationship broke apart, neither was it because surrogacy was illegal in China, but the fact that she ABANDONED 2 innocent children. She didn't see it as anything wrong, using ZH's infidelity as justification for her actions. And she continued to do so in court; This was something that the judge actually expressed their frustration with. There is fault with ZH too in this court case, where none of them discussed thoroughly the psychology of the children, but instead "hear a great deal about the parties' unhealthy relationship". But here is the difference: ZH had taken care of the 2 children for 18 months despite this, while ZS hadn't. This was the basis of the court decision of granting AH full custody of decision making for the children while granting ZS visitation rights. Newest court updates in September 2021: ZS is NOT seeking full custody. idk where you read that from but that is not the case. The case was initiated because there were breaches with the scheduling agreement. tldr: ZH wanted to take the children on holiday and tried to get approval from the courts and AS but both were denied, be he did so anyway, taking the children to San Francisco. ZH also tried to file for them to move out of Colorado for which he was denied. Due to their travels, ZS have missed some parenting time, for which she filed this complaint. So what the conclusion is is that ZH has been ordered to return to Colorado no later than the 8th (oh it's today!), and that the children's passports will be held by ZH's counsel to prevent him from travelling with the children without notice. ZH is prohibited from travelling with the children in a way that interferes with ZS's parenting time. And ZS can choose to arrange for a reschedule to make up for the parenting time she missed. ...THat's it. 5. Update from ZS: She has recently been fined for tax evasion in China and is planning to pay the full fine. She is trying to make a comeback; when the Kris Wu case happened, she released a statement about how she was infertile and tried to garner sympathy. (To me that's proof that she doesn't have her priorities in order and that she is really tone deaf, but that is just my opinion) 6. Yes, I did watch most of her interviews and shows. I was a fan of hers hence why I know so much about this case.... This is a long read, but I hope you got through it all Basically none of them are the best options for the children, honestly. But ZH has proven himself whereas ZS has yet to do so, hence why the Court + the majority of the cnets dislike ZS more than ZH. I also want to add on another layer of context, as if this isn't already long enough of a read lol. ZS used to be a celeb that "could do no wrong". There were so many instances where she showcased her flawed perspectives or bad attitude on broadcast, not only was she not hated, but fans defended her, myself included. It takes A LOT to overturn this, but she did. She is no "evil" person by any means, but please accept that she is wrong. She isn't a "brave mother", she is an inept mother who made mistakes. Zhang Heng used the surrogacy and the child to blackmail Zheng Shuang for money，and ZS refused to be blackmailed. Zheng Shuang never thought of abandoning children. After Zhang Heng's blackmail failed, he wanted her to lose custody and obtain a high amount of support. In this lawsuit, Zheng Shuang sued Zhang Heng to obtain joint custody rights. It is good that the kids now have a home to stay which is with the dad. One thing though, he will also guarantee to get financial support from the mom (if the mom has more money than him) for the next 18 years. There is obviously more to this story than meets the eye. Zheng Shuang, by all accounts appears to have been the breadwinner, who had to work to provide for the family. This is a CUSTODY case, unless there was any question about the children's parentage will forensics be used. Unless you are talking about the forensics behind the audio recording? Those were not admissible in court because they were released to the public before the court date. However, they can be used to paint a picture to the public and that was what happened. It had no weight on the outcome of the case but definitely was a big factor in the public's perception of ZS's character.
They didn't "accept evidence of ZS cuz it's legit". In fact, she had lied multiple times in court too. One very big lie is that she had no idea that the children were born until ZH contacted her.
...I think all adults are aware that pregnancies take 9 months. The timeline of events that occurred were: ZH+ZS hired 2 surrogates that were both successful --> Their marriage breaks down because ZH allegedly cheated on her so they separate --> She didn't want the children anymore so she went behind ZH's back to contact the surrogacy agencies to terminate the pregnancies and the agencies tell her it was not possible because babies are not goods that can be returned or refunded. After that, she basically ghosted the agency. The agency was worried as the date drew near and contacted ZH for which ZH told them he had no knowledge of ZS's request of the terminations and that he will take responsibility for them. Throughout the pregnancies, ZH maintained contact with the 2 surrogates and the agency, even made further plans to bring the babies home. BEFORE YOU SAY ANYTHING: all of these were proven in court via email documents provided by the agency. They included the emails from ZS and also ZH and unless you tell me the agency falsified them (which they didn't), this aspect of the story is true --> ZS is then informed by ZH of the children's births and she GAVE HER CONSENT for ZH to bring the babies home without her present in person. That is a legality that is required. Without this consent form, ZH will not be allowed to pick the babies up alone from the hospital. During this time, ZS made NO plans for the children. She continued to book projects and films, all in the month of the babies' birth. The JUDGE challenged her on multiple occasions (i understand both english and mandarin and so I watched the court videos): Why did you not buy flights when the births drew near? Why did you take on new filming projects in the same months they are expected to be born? She was unable to answer these questions because the answer was that she didn't want the children anymore. Simple. He never "hid" in the States, the children were BORN in the States. They were US citizens and needed ZS's signature to apply for passports, for which ZS REFUSED (because she didn't want them back in China at the time since they were secrets). Hence why there is a clause in the final COURT VERDICT that ZH gets sole legal custody as well as being able to obtain legal documents for the children without the approval of the other party. ZS could have made things easier by signing a piece of paper, allowing ZH to apply for passports and then settle legal matters back in China. But ZS didn't want the babies in China. She refused to sign the form to allow them passports before the news broke out of their existence.
2. "The court even order him to pay her money back." --> This is a totally separate case, not even on the same day let alone the same judge or proceedings. This was straightforward. She lent him money, he claimed that it was shared expenses because they were married at the time but there was a single text message with the word "loan" that ruled in her favour so he would have to pay her back. Nothing to do with custody, but doesn't paint him in a nice light either.
In fact, she has been fined for tax evasion and has been fined by the chinese govt 299 million yuan (US$46 million) so if you must compare the 2........

She never contacted ZH before the children's births and never made any plans to meet the children. She wanted them gone. She wanted them adopted.
In fact, this can also be considered a LIE since without PASSPORTS for the children, how would ZH even bring the children back? Simple logic really but you might have missed it.

If he works for her and she was his boss, was he supposed to work for free just because she was married to her? That's fraud... and exploitation. But nonetheless, it wasn't "manager fees", it was investments into the business they shared. However, because it was referred to as a "loan" in writing as per text messages, after the dissolution of their marriage, he will be expected to pay her back.

Many business transactions are documented, as they should be, hence why it took a long time for ZH to find them to use against ZS to prove her tax evasion. He used to be her manager. A good manager would have copies of their client's contracts... Maybe he just never deleted them. But that doesn't negate the fact that she broke the law.
ALSO, ZH is fined by the govt for aiding ZS in her tax evasion. So he isn't doing this just as a "smear campaign", he is being charged as well.

This video is a bit confusing. Here is the summary. Zhang Heng filed for sole custody. Zheng Shuang requested for joint. The final ruling was sole custody to Zhang Heng with visitation rights to Zheng Shuang. That is not the same as joint custody so Zheng Shuang did NOT win. With sole custody, Zhang Heng doesn't legally need permission or consent from Zheng Shuang with any decisions with the children (ie making their passports or flying them back to China etc) Zhang Heng has been granted permission to make all the important decisions in the children's lives.
Here is the final ruling:
At the end of the day, when the evidence that was presented is stripped to the core, the Court is left with the following conclusions:
- Father is the only parent that the children know and has been their primary caregiver for almost eighteen months. He, alone, ensured that they were brought safely into the world and into a loving home, and he, alone, has ensured that their needs have been met
- Mother is someone the children have seen a couple of times with helpers and, at best, is a very casual acquaintance, at worst a stranger, but certainly not a parent.
- Mother has not demonstrated to this Court a desire to become a significant caregiver to the children or taken a parental interest in them, nor has she shown the Court that she has the motivation or stability to care for them.
I think she only ask fir custody for her public image.. So people wont be mad at her or else she would be there when the children were born.. But seeing that shes only there a couple of times says a lot..

I'm happy for children but there's so much into the story that we don't know. Zhang Heng isn't even that innocent and doesnt care about children as much as he shows in the public
ZS can issue for full custody later. First she needs to bond with the kids, because they just met their mother and feel uncomfortable around her. ZH's parents sold their property and gave money to buy everything for the children. Maybe they're more responsible being able to sacrifice for their grandchildren. And ZH's mom helps him taking care of them. Seems like a good granny.

Next, the court order. The court order dated September 2021 did not make any changes to the outcomes of the order dated in May. I am Chinese and well versed in English, so not only did I watch/listen to her statements, I also read the FULL court order of the case. She isn't a brave mother.
Here are some of the facts that you have missed about the case.
1. She did not want the kids. One of the points raised by the judge was the fact that she took on multiple projects during the months that the babies were expected to be born. Not only did she not purchase any tickets or made plans to travel, she virtually had no time to take care of the children.
Of course, an argument can be made that she gave permission to Zhang Heng to pick up the kids after their birth + the pandemic making it difficult to travel, but that doesn't discount the fact that she took on other filming projects while she would have not one but TWO newborns at home. THe judge saw through that, knew that she had no intentions of taking care of the children before the lawsuit happened.
Here is a word for word quote from the court order:
"Father took responsibility for the children when Mother sought to abandon them. Upon learning of Mother's inquiries about placing the children for adoption, Father mobilised. He immediately accepted responsibility for them and made clear that he would not let them be adopted by strangers. Father met with each surrogate. He set up a household for the children and put in place resources to assist him in caring for the children. Father made sure that he would be present at the births and picked up each child. He has been caring for the children full-time for the past fifteen months.........Mother provided the Court with no confidence that she wants to be a parent to the children and will commit to devoting her life to doing so. The Court appreciates that she is here now and that it is challenging for her to manoeuvre in a foreign country, and that she has taken steps to furnish a home for the children at least temporarily. However, she has not shown that she is highly motivated to parent the children, failed to establish that she has any understanding of how to parent young children, or that she will do what is necessary to develop a parental relationship with the children. Accordingly, the Court cannot conclude that she is able to place the children's interests ahead of her own."
2. She tried to terminate the surrogate pregnancies behind ZH's back. There were emails presented during court, provided by the Surrogacy agency. They had to tell ZS that the babies "cannot be returned". After which, she cut off all contact with the agency completely. Concerned, they then contacted ZH, who had no idea she wanted to terminate the pregnancies and immediately stepped up, assuring the agency that he would take care of the children.
3. She stayed silent for her kids? No, she stayed silent because she didn't want anyone to know she had kids. From points 1 and 2, it was obvious that she never wanted to acknowledge them if this didn't happen. And after ZH exposed her, she was VERY vocal on social media. She started writing essays of incoherent sentences, talking about how she had a medical condition hence why she couldn't get pregnant, exposing that ZH was a cheater and that she broke no law.
HERE IS MY ISSUE WITH THOSE STATEMENTS: The big problem wasn't that their relationship broke apart, neither was it because surrogacy was illegal in China, but the fact that she ABANDONED 2 innocent children. She didn't see it as anything wrong, using ZH's infidelity as justification for her actions. And she continued to do so in court;
This was something that the judge actually expressed their frustration with. There is fault with ZH too in this court case, where none of them discussed thoroughly the psychology of the children, but instead "hear a great deal about the parties' unhealthy relationship".
But here is the difference: ZH had taken care of the 2 children for 18 months despite this, while ZS hadn't.
This was the basis of the court decision of granting AH full custody of decision making for the children while granting ZS visitation rights.
"Father is the only parent that the children know and has been their primary caregiver for almost eighteen months. He, alone, ensured that they were brought safely into the world and into a loving home, and he, alone , has ensured that their needs have been met.

4. Newest court updates in September 2021: ZS is NOT seeking full custody. idk where you read that from but that is not the case. The case was initiated because there were breaches with the scheduling agreement. tldr: ZH wanted to take the children on holiday and tried to get approval from the courts and AS but both were denied, be he did so anyway, taking the children to San Francisco. ZH also tried to file for them to move out of Colorado for which he was denied. Due to their travels, ZS have missed some parenting time, for which she filed this complaint. So what the conclusion is is that ZH has been ordered to return to Colorado no later than the 8th (oh it's today!), and that the children's passports will be held by ZH's counsel to prevent him from travelling with the children without notice. ZH is prohibited from travelling with the children in a way that interferes with ZS's parenting time. And ZS can choose to arrange for a reschedule to make up for the parenting time she missed.

5. Update from ZS: She has recently been fined for tax evasion in China and is planning to pay the full fine. She is trying to make a comeback; when the Kris Wu case happened, she released a statement about how she was infertile and tried to garner sympathy. (To me that's proof that she doesn't have her priorities in order and that she is really tone deaf, but that is just my opinion)

Basically none of them are the best options for the children, honestly. But ZH has proven himself whereas ZS has yet to do so, hence why the Court + the majority of the cnets dislike ZS more than ZH.
I also want to add on another layer of context, as if this isn't already long enough of a read lol. ZS used to be a celeb that "could do no wrong". There were so many instances where she showcased her flawed perspectives or bad attitude on broadcast, not only was she not hated, but fans defended her, myself included. It takes A LOT to overturn this, but she did. She is no "evil" person by any means, but please accept that she is wrong. She isn't a "brave mother", she is an inept mother who made mistakes. Sadly that’s not true. Everything he did was for money. Zhang Heng cheated on a huge amount of money and defrauded Zheng Shuang of 36 million yuan. Zhang Heng used the surrogacy and the child to blackmail Zheng Shuang for money，and ZS refused to be blackmailed.
Zheng Shuang never thought of abandoning children. After Zhang Heng's blackmail failed, he wanted her to lose custody and obtain a high amount of support. It is good that the kids now have a home to stay which is with the dad. One thing though, he will also guarantee to get financial support from the mom (if the mom has more money than him) for the next 18 years. It is sad but true that sometime people will do anything just to get money. I didn't say this is really happening in this case but the possibility is there.
